I visited this vet last Wednesday with my cat after noticing suspicious fluorescence on his belly under a Wood’s lamp. To my surprise, this clinic didn’t even have a Wood’s lamp—an essential tool that costs less than $20. The vet shaved some fur and found a scab but said it didn’t look like ringworm. Since I was very worried and had upcoming travel on Friday, I wanted to know if any precautionary steps were necessary before leaving. They suggested a ringworm PCR test for $160 and assured me I’d receive the results by Friday. However, I never heard back—not by Friday, not even by Monday. When I called, they told me the doctor was on leave. I asked if another available doctor could simply send me the results, and they promised a callback, which never happened. I don’t think my request was unreasonable—I just wanted timely information to care for my pet. Unfortunately, this clinic showed no urgency, no empathy for pet owners, and no professionalism. Instead, they seemed more focused on making money than on actually helping animals.

Veterinary Services:

As a "Pet Hospital," Westside Animal Hospital likely offers a range of essential veterinary services to address various health needs of your pets. These services commonly include:

  • Preventative Care: This is the cornerstone of pet health and includes routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control (flea, tick, heartworm prevention), and nutritional counseling. These services are vital in maintaining your pet's well-being and preventing potential health issues.
  • Diagnostics: When your pet is unwell, accurate diagnosis is key. Pet hospitals often offer various diagnostic tools such as laboratory testing (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal exams), and potentially imaging services like X-rays. Based on one customer review, it's important to note that the availability of specific diagnostic equipment, such as a Wood’s lamp, may vary. We recommend confirming the availability of specific diagnostic tools relevant to your pet's needs when you contact us.
  • Medical Treatment: For pets suffering from illnesses or injuries, our veterinarians are equipped to provide medical treatment, which may include medication, fluid therapy, and supportive care.
  • Surgery: Many pet hospitals offer surgical services, ranging from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue or orthopedic surgeries. Information regarding the specific surgical capabilities of Westside Animal Hospital can be obtained by contacting us directly.

Choosing the right pet hospital is a crucial decision. Based on the available information and general understanding of pet hospital practices, Westside Animal Hospital may offer the following features and benefits to local users:

Important Considerations Based on Customer Feedback:

It is crucial to acknowledge the feedback from real customers to provide a balanced perspective. One review expresses significant dissatisfaction regarding the lack of a specific diagnostic tool (Wood's lamp), delays in receiving test results, and perceived lack of communication and empathy. This feedback raises important considerations for potential clients:

  • Availability of Specific Diagnostic Tools: If your pet requires specific diagnostic procedures, it is advisable to confirm the availability of necessary equipment with the clinic beforehand.
  • Communication and Timeliness: Clear and timely communication of test results and follow-up information is essential. We are taking this feedback seriously and are committed to improving our communication protocols to ensure pet owners are kept informed in a timely manner.
  • Professionalism and Empathy: Providing professional and empathetic care is paramount. We are dedicated to ensuring that all pet owners feel valued and that their concerns are addressed with urgency and compassion.

Nice staff and was seen quickly. My foster dog ate part of pork bone. He seemed ok but I needed some peace of mind going into the holiday. The vet confirmed he was ok, really nice and offers up he was available Christmas Eve for half a day if I had any additional concerns.

We love Westside! Every one of my dogs gets affectionate, thoughtful care and attention from the vets and vet techs at Westside. Could not recommend this place enough. They are patient, kind, and work with you to make sure your pets are taken care of and treated well at every visit (lots of treats!)

My kitten was vomiting and not eating for a few days. I had been to a couple of different vets who hadn't been able to figure out what was wrong and at that point I was prepared to wait it out and hope she got better. But a Westside vet called me and convinced me to bring her in again. The vet seemed to really care. My kitten ended up needing surgery to remove a foreign object she had swallowed. The surgeon was very skillful and my kitten is making a speedy recovery. Westside staff have called in to check on her. She wouldn't be alive if the Westside vet hadn't called so I'm very grateful!
