Dr. Mitchell loves his patients and takes the time to listen to your concerns. He is very empathetic and his main assistant Liz is always upbeat and has great customer service skills. His prices will beat any other vet. My dog adores him, and you know that’s a good sign.

Westport Animal Hospital, for my family was an on time blessing, and God sent. My sweet fur baby cat “Lloyd” was badly injured by a hit and run. He was in need of surgery for a fractured bone. I was quoted an astronomical amount of money for his surgery from a well known competitor specialist in town. Dr. Mitchell fee schedule was more than feasible for our one income household. Dr Mitchell made an attempt to perform the surgery on Lloyd. However, unfortunately, due to the severity of Lloyd’s injuries he didn’t make it underneath mild local anesthesia. Although, deeply sadden, my heart is rested knowing that God is ultimately in control overall all living creatures. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. He is Sovereign, and in control over all things. Nonetheless, my heart is forever grateful to Dr. Mitchell, who showed our family kindness, by giving us a substantial financial discount for his services, in our time of need. If you are looking for a kind, competent, professional, veterinarian, with competitive wages that lean in the customer’s favor, I would highly recommend Westport Animal Hospital. Big shoutout to Dr. Mitchell and his team for getting my sweet boy Oliver in the same day for an emergency after being turned down by so many other vets. They were very understanding and listened to me and immediately sprung into action and kept him overnight when they realized how sick he was. They took amazing care of him and didn’t charge me a ton to do it either. I highly recommend and thank you again Dr. Mitchell and team! 🩷

I cannot recommend Dr. Mitchell at Westport Animal Hospital highly enough. When my cat Lucy sustained a broken arm, I was terrified I might lose him. However, Dr. Mitchell’s expert care, from diagnosis through surgery to recovery, was nothing short of exceptional. He not only ensured Lucy's swift and thorough recovery but also provided me with reassurance and support throughout the process, making a difficult situation much easier to handle. Lucy is recovering, thanks to Dr. Mitchell's outstanding skill and compassion. For anyone seeking veterinary care, entrust your pets to Dr. Mitchell; he truly goes above and beyond.

Dr. Mitchell is hands down the best vet I’ve ever taken my 12 year old beagle to. She had some large growths that were recommended to be operated on; other vets quoted me no less than $2500 for the procedure. I was despondent, stressed to the max and working my fingers to the bone. Then someone recommended Dr. Mitchell for a 2nd opinion and not only was I blown away by the price difference (I’m talking 1/3 the price of all the other animal hospitals), I was immediately made to feel comfortable, I felt listened to and like he was taking all of my concerns seriously. He has treated my girl for other various health issues a half dozen times since that procedure, and I won’t take her anywhere else now! It’s so hard to find a veterinarian that’s affordable, compassionate, caring, empathetic, outlandishly qualified & experienced, but most of all he treated my girl like she was his. So thankful I found Westport Animal Hospital!
