Beyond love. I put my fur baby to sleep today. My vet was beyond great. She cried with me. They brought Big Guy , my 22 year old cat to me in a blanket after getting her relaxed with meds., and I held her like a baby. They left me alone with her. I have lost many fur babies. But they knew exactly what to do. I will always be grateful for their compassion. Thank you so much. ❤️

Welcome to Watson Road Veterinary Clinic

Watson Road Veterinary Clinic, located in St. Louis, Missouri, is a Pet Hospital providing veterinary care to the local community. Based on recent customer feedback available online, the clinic appears to offer a range of services for pets. Understanding the experiences of other pet owners can be valuable when choosing a veterinary provider. The reviews for Watson Road Veterinary Clinic present a mixed picture, highlighting both compassionate end-of-life care and concerns regarding appointment wait times and the handling of urgent versus scheduled cases.

While specific details about the clinic's physical environment are not extensively described in the provided reviews, one positive aspect mentioned is the compassionate approach taken during end-of-life care. A customer who had to euthanize their 22-year-old cat, Big Guy, shared a deeply moving experience. They described the veterinarian as "beyond great" and noted that the vet cried with them. The clinic staff took the time to ensure the cat was relaxed with medication before bringing her to the owner wrapped in a blanket, allowing for a peaceful final moment. The reviewer expressed gratitude for the compassion shown and stated that the staff "knew exactly what to do" during this difficult time, indicating a sensitive and understanding approach to euthanasia and grief support for pet owners. This suggests that Watson Road Veterinary Clinic prioritizes empathy and provides a comforting environment for owners saying goodbye to their beloved pets.

However, another customer shared a significantly different experience involving a scheduled appointment for a dog in the late stages of kidney failure. This review raises concerns about appointment wait times and the clinic's prioritization of cases. The customer reported waiting for almost 1.5 hours despite having a 2:30 pm appointment. Subsequently, they waited an additional 25 minutes in the examination room to see the doctor, nearly leading them to leave. When the veterinarian finally attended to their dog, the reviewer felt that their pet was not the priority, as the doctor reportedly attended to a cat that was vomiting first. The customer expressed understanding that all pets matter but was taken aback by this prioritization. The consultation itself appeared brief, with the veterinarian offering options for continued fluid and medication administration or considering end-of-life care, seemingly without a thorough physical examination of the dog, who remained wrapped in a cover and was reportedly assessed "from across the room." This experience contrasts sharply with the compassionate care described in the other review, suggesting potential inconsistencies in service or prioritization based on the perceived urgency of the case.

Based on these two contrasting reviews, the services offered at Watson Road Veterinary Clinic appear to include:

  • Euthanasia and End-of-Life Care: The positive review highlights a compassionate and supportive approach to euthanasia, including pain management for the pet and providing a private and comforting environment for the owner to say goodbye. This suggests that the clinic recognizes the emotional difficulty of this process and strives to handle it with sensitivity.
  • General Veterinary Consultation: The negative review indicates that the clinic does offer consultations for various pet health issues, including chronic conditions like end-stage kidney failure. However, the reported lack of a thorough physical examination in this instance raises questions about the standard protocol for all consultations.
  • Medication and Treatment Options: The veterinarian discussed continuing fluids and medication for the dog with kidney failure, indicating that the clinic can provide these treatments.
  • Potential for Emergency/Urgent Care Prioritization: The decision to attend to a vomiting cat before a scheduled appointment for a dog with a chronic condition suggests that the clinic may prioritize cases based on perceived urgency. While prioritizing emergencies is a common practice in veterinary medicine, the impact on scheduled appointments and communication with waiting clients is an important consideration.

A key feature highlighted by one customer is the compassionate and empathetic approach of at least one of the veterinarians, particularly in sensitive situations like euthanasia. This level of care can be a significant factor for pet owners facing difficult decisions about their animal's well-being. However, another feature that emerges from the reviews is the potential for significant appointment delays and a perceived lack of prioritization for scheduled appointments when urgent cases arise. The connection mentioned between Watson Road Veterinary Clinic and Hampton Vet (being on the "same network or whatever") might be relevant for clients who utilize both facilities, but the differing experiences reported suggest that service quality or operational procedures may vary between locations or on different days.

Located at 3725 Watson Rd in St. Louis, MO 63109, Watson Road Veterinary Clinic is physically accessible to local pet owners. The phone number provided is (314) 644-1544 (also accessible via mobile at +1 314-644-1544) for inquiries and appointments. However, the negative review highlights the importance of efficient appointment management and clear communication regarding potential delays, especially when dealing with pets with serious health concerns.

The provided information does not include any details about specific promotional offers or discounts at Watson Road Veterinary Clinic. Potential clients may need to contact the clinic directly to inquire about any current promotions or pricing for specific services.

In conclusion, Watson Road Veterinary Clinic in St. Louis, MO, appears to offer compassionate end-of-life care, which is a significant strength for pet owners facing such difficult times. However, the reported experience of long wait times for scheduled appointments and concerns about case prioritization warrant consideration. While one customer praised the empathetic approach of a veterinarian, another reported a less thorough consultation and a perceived lack of urgency for their pet's chronic condition. These contrasting experiences suggest that while the clinic may provide compassionate care in certain situations, there might be inconsistencies in service delivery or appointment management. Local pet owners considering Watson Road Veterinary Clinic may want to weigh these factors and potentially inquire about their appointment protocols and emergency care procedures to ensure it aligns with their pet's needs.

This place is a joke! If I could give negative stars I would. My normal vet is Hampton vet but unfortunately my pets doctor was leaving and they were closing for the day yesterday. So I was told to go to Watson rd vet (they our on the same network or whatever) I waited for almost 1.5 hours just to be seen and mind you I had an appointment for 2:30pm. My dog is at the end stage of kidney failure and is showing all the symptoms. We got to a room finally and waited for another 25mins to see the doctor (we almost walked out) But whenever I was finally seen they made it clear she wasn't their first priority instead they went with a puking cat. I understand all pets matter when it comes to vet needs but wow this just blew my mind. Just for them to tell me, I can keep doing fluids and medicine or I can think about end of life. My pet was never physically seen just from across the room and she was wrapped in a cover. I already had a feeling earlier that day that's it's her time to go. But no way in hell was I about to do it there. They told me my dogs doctor would be back in tomorrow. I called her normal vet and her doctor is off today, her normal day off which I didn't know this. Luckily a doctor that is there has recently seen my dog a couple times. After all this I still have to say goodbye which is the hardest thing a pet owner will ever have to do.

I’ve been taking our senior pup here since he came home with me from the St. Louis Senior Dog Rescue. Everyone at treats him with care and kindness and they’re very patient with him. They also take the time to explain to me anything that is wrong if there is something wrong and work with me to understand anything that should or needs to be done. I highly recommend this vet if you’re looking for honesty and communication.

Dr Zeis is the best. He takes the time to explain everything. My wife has used his services for about 30 years. They are excellent at the clinic. The ancillary help and techs are wonderful

After 15 years with my beloved Seamus, I had to say goodbye this week. Thanks to the compassionate care of Dr. Schwartz, his medical team and everyone at Watson Road Vet Clinic, from the front desk to the back room and beyond, I know he passed peacefully and we were, as always, treated with respect and kindness. I have been taking my pets, which have been many, to Watson Road since the 1980s, and although there have been some recent changes, it is reassuring to know this is still Watson Road Vet Clinic. OK, one difference...more and better chairs in the lobby. Yay!
