Welcome to WagHab: Asheville Dog Exercise and Aquatic Gym

WagHab: Asheville Dog Exercise and Aquatic Gym, located at 1446 Brevard Rd #103, Asheville, NC 28806, USA, operates as a specialized facility within the broader "Pet Hospital" category, focusing exclusively on canine rehabilitation, exercise, and aquatic therapy. While not a traditional veterinary hospital offering acute medical care or surgery, WagHab provides essential complementary services that are often prescribed by veterinarians for post-operative recovery, injury rehabilitation, pain management, and general fitness for dogs. It serves as a vital resource for pet owners seeking to improve their dogs' mobility, strength, and overall quality of life, particularly for those with chronic conditions, injuries, or age-related issues.

The environment at WagHab is consistently described as "super clean" and designed for the comfort of both "pets and parents." This dedication to a clean and welcoming atmosphere is crucial in a rehabilitation setting where dogs may be anxious or in pain. The facility likely features specialized equipment for canine therapy, such as an indoor heated swimming pool and multiple underwater treadmills, which are designed to support and exercise dogs safely. The emphasis on individual attention and a calm environment ensures that even dogs initially apprehensive about water or new surroundings can feel safe and comfortable, as evidenced by a dog learning to swim and enjoying the experience. The space is thoughtfully arranged to accommodate various therapeutic exercises and provide a quiet, focused area for one-on-one sessions, allowing for personalized care and minimizing distractions.

The services offered at WagHab are highly specialized and focused on canine physical rehabilitation and fitness. Their core offerings include hydrotherapy, primarily utilizing an indoor heated pool and underwater treadmills. Aquatic exercise is particularly beneficial as it provides buoyancy, reducing stress on joints, while the resistance of the water helps build muscle strength and endurance. This is ideal for dogs recovering from orthopedic surgeries (like ACL tears), those with arthritis, hip dysplasia, neurological conditions, or simply those needing a safe way to lose weight or improve overall fitness. Other key services include laser therapy, which aids in pain reduction and tissue healing; manual therapy, such as massage, to improve circulation and reduce muscle tension; and various land-based exercises tailored to each dog's specific needs and goals. They also offer digital thermal imaging and ultrasound as diagnostic tools. The staff at WagHab, including Megan Day, a physical therapist and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP), are highly knowledgeable in these modalities, creating customized game plans for each dog. Services extend to helping dogs maintain strength and agility as they age, improving sport performance, and assisting in the complex process of pursuing prosthetic limbs, showcasing their comprehensive approach to canine mobility and wellness.

The standout features of WagHab are deeply rooted in its highly skilled and compassionate staff, as frequently highlighted in customer reviews. Megan Day is consistently praised for being "amazing," "super knowledgeable," and "really good at what she does," with a genuine care for the dogs. Her background as a human physical therapist provides a unique and valuable perspective on canine rehabilitation. Staff members like Chloe are also celebrated for their patience and ability to build trust with the dogs, even teaching fearful dogs to swim safely and comfortably. The entire team is described as "kind, patient, and welcoming to dogs and humans." This human-animal bond and empathetic approach are crucial for successful rehabilitation outcomes, as pets often respond better when they feel secure and cared for. WagHab's commitment to respecting clients' time, with minimal waiting for scheduled appointments, further enhances the positive experience. The availability of "super cool/helpful tools and equipment" indicates a modern facility dedicated to providing the best possible care with advanced technology. Their expertise in pain assessment, therapeutic interventions like massage and laser therapy, and guiding clients through complex processes like fitting prosthetic legs truly sets them apart as a premier canine rehabilitation center.

Promotional information for WagHab emphasizes its specialized services and the positive outcomes achieved for its canine clients. Their contact phone numbers, (828) 633-7004 and mobile +1 828-633-7004, are prominently displayed for inquiries and appointments. The address, 1446 Brevard Rd #103, Asheville, NC 28806, USA, clearly establishes their location. WagHab actively promotes its core services like aquatic exercise and rehabilitation for various conditions, including post-surgical recovery, arthritis management, and mobility issues. They often leverage success stories and client testimonials, which vividly describe the transformative impact their services have had on dogs' lives, turning struggling pets into more mobile and comfortable companions. Their website likely details their certified professionals and the advanced equipment they utilize, reinforcing their expertise and capabilities. Being the "only one of its kind in WNC" (Western North Carolina) for dedicated physical rehabilitation and fitness for dogs serves as a powerful unique selling proposition. Furthermore, they emphasize their strong relationships with local veterinarians, often receiving referrals, which speaks to their credibility within the professional veterinary community. By highlighting the potential for dogs to "discontinue or reduce the use of pain medications" and experience "noticeable and life-changing" quality-of-life improvements, WagHab effectively communicates the profound benefits of their specialized care to potential clients. Their promotional efforts focus on showing how WagHab can "give you your best friend back," enabling dogs to run, play, and enjoy life more fully.

Brief summary: Waghab has been a tremendous resource to help me give my tripawd puppy her best and fullest life--including pursuing a prosthetic leg. I highly recommend! We love Waghab! My girl, Magnolia, was born with a "lucky fin," so we visited Waghab for the first time when she was only a few months old (almost a year ago!). First of all, Megan is amazing. She has been a tremendous help to my little tripawd and me--she regularly checks Magnolia for pain/tenderness/issues, she created a game plan when Magnolia's hind end was out of sorts, she provided Magnolia with massage and laser therapy that helped her heal, and more. Megan is super knowledgable, she's really good at what she does, and she's also just an all around great human. Chloe has also been a huge help--she taught Magnolia how to swim in a way that made Magnolia feel safe and comfortable. She's one of Magnolia's favorite people (and Mags still tries to fall asleep on her when she's tired from swimming!). Everyone who has worked with me at Waghab has been kind, patient, and welcoming to dogs and humans. They have super cool/helpful tools and equipment, and the place is always super clean. Also worth noting: they respect people's time--I've only ever had to wait a few minutes for a scheduled appointment. Last, but not least, we found out that Magnolia is a good candidate for a prosthetic leg! Of course Megan has done most of the legwork (pun intended) to help me navigate this process. I cannot sing her praises or the praises of Waghab enough!

Megan has been absolutely incredible throughout the entire rehab process following my dog's stifle surgery, and she continues to do amazing work as we transition into strengthening phase. Despite the challenges and bumps along the way, she has been a steady guide, helping us navigate this rollercoaster with everything that's been needed at each stage. From manual therapy, myofascial release, and massages, to flossing/gliding, laser treatment, an underwater treadmill plan, and guidance on the appropriate exercises that are challenging but without adding too much stress on the tissues during healing phase, Megan has been there every step of the way. She is always present during the entire session and never overlooks anything I feel needs attention or clarification. It's a 5-hour drive for me to and from Waghab but it's a small price to pay when I know my dog is in such capable hands. Words can’t fully express how grateful I am for all the time, care, and expertise Megan has given to my pup. THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart!

Waghab programs have been terrific for my 13 yo shepherd, who has arthritis. The staffs’ care and concern is awesome and reassuring, and he loves his visits there.

Took our foster here to learn more about how to help her with her past broken pelvis. Staff was very knowledgeable and they have a wide array of equipment to give the best care possible. We learned so much and feel ready to help our girl.
