I adopted my pup (boxer pit mix) from them in February of 2024. Very nice staff when handling the adoption process. But I was told there was extensive tests done on him to make sure he was in good health. Was told he was perfectly fine and healthy, as the papers said he tested negative for everything. When I brought him home he would itch about every 5 minutes. He would sleep an incredible amount (he’s a puppy yes but it was excessive). I took him to my vet I have used for years where he was diagnosed with MANGE, two types of intestinal worms, and 2 parasites. He had to be treated for all of his diagnosis. I called to let them know that my dogs brothers and sister most likely had mange and they really showed no care, nor apologized for the situation. Through the adoption process they were extremely helpful but after they sell that dog, they couldn’t give a damn what happened to it in their care.

Vulcan Park Animal Care Introduce

Welcome to Vulcan Park Animal Care, a Pet Hospital situated at 1779 Valley Ave, Homewood, AL 35209, USA. As a local Pet Hospital, we are committed to serving the veterinary needs of the Homewood community and surrounding areas. Our services encompass a range of care for your animal companions, and we also facilitate pet adoptions. You can reach our dedicated team at (205) 870-4500 or our mobile number, +1 205-870-4500, to inquire about our services or the adoption process.

As a Pet Hospital, Vulcan Park Animal Care offers a variety of services to support the health and well-being of your pets. One long-term client, who has been utilizing our practice for over 20 years for three different dogs, attests to the personable nature and quality of care provided by all of our care providers. This client highlights their positive experiences, noting that their dog even enjoys visiting the treatment rooms, particularly the cat room, indicating a comfortable and perhaps stimulating environment for their pet. This long-standing relationship suggests a consistent level of general veterinary care, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and management of various health concerns over the years.

The same long-term client also praises our ability to provide excellent care even in unusual situations and our "great ability to think outside the box." This suggests that our veterinary team is experienced in handling complex or less common medical issues and is willing to approach challenges with creativity and resourcefulness to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients. This adaptability and problem-solving capability can be a significant benefit for pet owners facing unique health challenges with their animals.

In addition to providing veterinary care, Vulcan Park Animal Care also facilitates pet adoptions. One reviewer shared their experience adopting a puppy in February 2024. They noted the staff was "very nice" during the adoption process. However, this review also raises concerns regarding the thoroughness of pre-adoption health assessments. The adopter reported being told that extensive tests were performed and that the puppy was in good health and tested negative for everything. Unfortunately, upon bringing the puppy home, the adopter observed excessive itching and sleepiness, leading to a diagnosis of mange, two types of intestinal worms, and two parasites by their long-term personal veterinarian. This discrepancy highlights a potential area for improvement in our pre-adoption health screenings and communication regarding the health status of adopted animals.

The review regarding the adoption process also indicates a perceived lack of concern or apology from Vulcan Park Animal Care when informed of the puppy's multiple health issues shortly after adoption. The adopter expressed disappointment in the post-adoption follow-up, suggesting a disparity between the helpfulness during the adoption process and the perceived lack of care afterwards. This feedback is valuable for us to consider in improving our communication and support for adopters and ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care, both before and after adoption.

While the reviews provide insights into both the positive aspects of our long-term veterinary care and a concerning experience with our adoption process, there is limited information available regarding the specific environment of Vulcan Park Animal Care. However, the positive feedback from the long-term client suggests a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for pets, as indicated by the dog's willingness to explore treatment areas. We strive to maintain a clean and organized facility where pets can receive care in a safe and supportive setting.

Specific details about the full range of services offered at Vulcan Park Animal Care are not exhaustively provided in the reviews. However, based on the positive long-term client experience, we can infer that we offer general veterinary services, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for various illnesses and injuries. The mention of handling "unusual situations" and thinking "outside the box" suggests a broader scope of medical and diagnostic capabilities beyond routine care. As we also facilitate adoptions, we likely provide initial health screenings and care for animals awaiting adoption.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, our long-standing presence in the Homewood community and the positive experiences of a client over two decades suggest a commitment to providing reliable and valuable veterinary care. For local users seeking a Pet Hospital with experienced and personable care providers who are willing to tackle complex medical issues, Vulcan Park Animal Care may be a suitable option. We encourage potential clients to contact us directly to discuss their pet's specific needs and to learn more about our services.

In conclusion, Vulcan Park Animal Care is a Pet Hospital in Homewood, AL, offering veterinary services and facilitating pet adoptions. While a long-term client praises our personable and resourceful care providers and their ability to handle unusual situations, a recent adoption experience raises concerns about the thoroughness of pre-adoption health assessments and post-adoption support. We are committed to learning from all feedback to improve our services in both veterinary care and adoption processes. For local users seeking a Pet Hospital with experienced veterinarians, we encourage you to contact us to discuss how we can meet your pet's healthcare needs. We aim to provide quality care and build lasting relationships with our clients and the community.

I took my guinea pig in for a check up and to get her claws clipped. The staff were so kind to us. We did have to wait for about an hour to see the vet. I'm sure he was busy. The facility was clean. This will be our new vet moving forward.

Dr. Lamb and his vet tech were wonderful. They took time with my turtle, Regina, and answered all my questions.

Adopted a dog they had received. Picked up after she was fixed. She was not clean, still had dead fleas on her backside and under chin when I bathed her because she kept scratching. Very irritated skin all over belly and groin from shaving for fixing. Never spoke with a Vet regarding anything they did or knew about her. Right eye looks very cloudy with some type of discharge and now I'll have to deal with the eye problem. They wrote in my paperwork she is 10, which I never knew but is okay with me. They sure did not clean her up for a proper adoption which pisses me off.
