Dr. Sears is truly the most incredible vet I have ever been to. She takes the time to listen, research, and provide her input from her extensive knowledge. She is not pushy and takes the time to educate. She was incredibly compassionate and went above and beyond when I lost my dog, and she has spent ample time making sure I am comfortable with my new puppy’s course of action. Truly thankful to God she was referred to me!

Established in 1970 and purchased by Dr. Kim Sears in 1998, Village Animal Hospital has a long-standing history of prioritizing progressive, up-to-date medical practices. They are an AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) Accredited Practice, a certification held by only a small percentage of veterinary hospitals nationwide, signifying their commitment to the highest standards of veterinary excellence. Furthermore, they are a Certified Cat Friendly Practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners and employ Certified Fear Free Professionals, ensuring a stress-reduced environment for all pets.
Village Animal Hospital prides itself on creating an environment that minimizes stress and maximizes comfort for pets and their owners. As a Fear Free certified practice, their staff is trained to reduce anxiety and fear during visits, transforming a potentially daunting experience into a positive one. This commitment extends to their facility, which is maintained as a state-of-the-art facility with up-to-date technology and treatment protocols.
The clinic’s mission to provide care in the "least stressful way possible" is evident in their approach. While specific details about the waiting areas or exam rooms are not explicitly provided in the reviews, the focus on Fear Free methods suggests a calm and accommodating space where pets are handled with gentle techniques and positive reinforcement. The long tenure of their supportive staff further contributes to a consistent and reassuring environment, fostering a sense of familiarity and trust for returning clients.
Village Animal Hospital offers a wide array of veterinary services for both cats and dogs, reflecting its status as a multifaceted care facility. Their services are designed to address every stage of a pet's life, from puppyhood and kittenhood to senior care, and include:
Wellness & Preventive Care: This is the cornerstone of their practice, with comprehensive wellness plans covering routine exams (including six comprehensive exams in some plans), unlimited nail trims, and vaccinations (Rabies, Bordetella, DAP, Leptospirosis for dogs; PureVax® 3-in-1, Leukemia, Rabies for cats). They also offer deworming, fecal testing, and ear mite checks.
Diagnostics & Imaging: Equipped with in-house Idexx laboratory, digital radiographs, digital dental radiographs, and ultrasound, they provide swift and accurate diagnostic capabilities for various conditions.
Surgery: They offer a range of surgical procedures, from routine spay/neuter to more complex laparoscopic surgeries, ensuring comprehensive surgical care.
Dental Care: Beyond routine dental cleanings under anesthesia, they utilize digital dental X-rays to assess the health of teeth below the gum line, crucial for overall pet health.
Emergency & Critical Care: The hospital is prepared to handle emergency situations, providing prompt and compassionate care when pets are in crisis.
Laser Therapy & Acupuncture: Offering advanced therapeutic options for pain management, rehabilitation, and various medical conditions.
Boarding & Grooming: Providing comfortable and safe boarding facilities, including secluded cat suites on a separate floor, and grooming services for hygiene and well-being.
End-of-Life Care & Grief Support: As highlighted by client testimonials, the clinic excels in providing incredible compassion and support during a pet's final days and even after their loss. Dr. Sears, in particular, goes "above and beyond" in these difficult times, demonstrating a deep understanding of the human-animal bond.
Behavioral Consultation & Homeopathic/Nutraceutical Remedies: Addressing holistic aspects of pet health, including behavioral issues and alternative treatment options.
They also provide individualized care from routine annual vaccinations and lab work to emergency and critical care situations, demonstrating their versatility and dedication to comprehensive pet health.
The most compelling feature of Village Animal Hospital is its team of veterinarians and staff, particularly Dr. Kim Sears. Clients describe her as "truly the most incredible vet," highlighting her extensive knowledge, willingness to research, and ability to provide input without being pushy. Her commitment to educating pet owners is a recurring theme, ensuring clients are comfortable and fully understand their pet's condition and treatment plan.
The clinic's adherence to stringent standards is another key feature. Being an AAHA Accredited Practice means they voluntarily undergo regular evaluations to ensure they meet over 900 standards of care, including facility, equipment, and patient care. Coupled with their Cat Friendly Practice certification and Fear Free Professional certifications, this demonstrates a proactive commitment to providing high-quality, stress-free care for all pets.
The compassion shown by the entire staff, especially during emotionally challenging times like the loss of a pet, is consistently praised. Their ability to make owners feel supported and appreciated, even after a pet's passing, creates a strong and lasting bond with the community. This empathetic approach extends to new pets, with the team spending "ample time making sure I am comfortable with my new puppy’s course of action."
While specific limited-time promotional offers are not detailed in the provided information, Village Animal Hospital's strongest "promotional" asset is its stellar reputation built on consistent, exceptional care and word-of-mouth referrals. The heartfelt testimonials, such as being "truly thankful to God she was referred to me!" and "I can’t say enough how much I appreciate all of them and highly recommend Village Animal Hospital for all your fur baby needs!", serve as powerful endorsements.
Furthermore, Village Animal Hospital actively promotes Canine and Feline Wellness Plans. These structured plans are designed to provide comprehensive preventive care over a year, covering exams, vaccinations, diagnostics, and even procedures like spay/neuter or dental cleanings, depending on the plan chosen. These plans are a promotional strategy to ensure pets receive consistent, proactive care while potentially offering cost-effective solutions for pet owners.
Their commitment to safety and compliance with established guidelines from various government bodies and associations further reinforces their trustworthiness. For pet owners in Lexington seeking a veterinary partner that combines advanced medical expertise with unparalleled compassion, a commitment to stress-free visits, and a strong history of excellence, Village Animal Hospital is an outstanding and highly recommended choice.

Apr 26, 2025 · Charlene RileyEveryone here was great! My cat had an emergency last Saturday morning and I was calling frantically around to any vets around to see if they could take my cat before having to resort to an urgent care. They told me to bring him in. They immediately got him back to look at him. They gave him great care, were super transparent about pricing before doing anything, and my cat loved them. I will be switching to them as my primary vet! Thank you to everyone here that made me and him feel comfortable and well taken care of.
