My pit/staffy mix had a torn ACL and we were referred to VSS for a consultation. The staff was great and so sweet with our girl. Our surgeon explained what the procedure and recovery would look like for her and was happy to answer all of our questions. We went ahead with her surgery and are really glad that we did! The recovery was long of course, but within 3-4 months post op she was pretty close to completely mobile and no longer limping or seemingly in pain. We are about 1.5 years post surgery and she is able to fully run, jump, play, and romp around as if nothing ever happened! I would absolutely recommend VSS. They gave my 3 year old dog her mobility back so she can be with us for a long time and I couldn’t be more grateful! Pro tip: get your pup a donut collar for comfort after surgery if allowable! Way more comfy for them! Second pic is our happy girl able to walk and play now that she is all fixed up and healed 😀 Thank you Dr. Yarnall and VSS!

Mar 06, 2025 · Nicole RookWe used VSS on 1-19-25 for emergency care for my Buddy. While the outcome was heart wrenching, the care was not. After arrival we were quickly moved to a room and evaluation was started and tests run. When tests came back less than ideal, we were presented with an option for care or a humane exit for our beloved boy. We appreciated the honesty in the overall cost for a treatment that under the circumstances probably would not have worked, but cause undue stress for Buddy. Due to age, we opted to let him go. Dr. Black and the entire staff were so helpful at this most difficult time. They showed love and compassion for our sweet boy. They were so caring and gentle in his final hours and gave us the time we needed to say goodbye. Despite hating the process and loosing our baby, VSS made it easier. We were pleased with Buddy’s care.
Jan 21, 2025 · Rachel DistelrathWe've unfortunately had multiple experiences with VSS for various cat emergencies. I will say VSS seems tremendously expensive BUT I would still rate them 5/5 stars --- because if there were an emergency, I know that our furry friends would get the best care, 24/7.
Feb 12, 2025 · Wayne LewisVSS is great. I had to have an emergency visit with my dog a few days ago, and everyone from the front desk to the tech to the doctor were all great. We were back quickly, everything was explained well in detail, and all follow up instructions were clear. I came in feeling so overwhelmed and nervous about the situation and thanks to them I left feeling calmer and that my dog would be okay.
Feb 28, 2025 · Grace LodesAfter the neighborhood stray cat was mauled by a neighbor’s dog, we took him to look at his eye, which was no longer in its socket. Even though we made it clear that we were taking financial responsibility of him, the care he received (or should I say lack of) was both infuriating and nauseating. Since it was a Sunday evening, we made plans to transfer him to our vet on Monday. We asked VSS to please stabilize him and make him comfortable. When my daughter and I finally got notice for his transfer, we headed up and waited roughly 45 minutes for them to simply hand him off in his crate with zero instructions or information. I even had to call from the vet to have them fax Gus’s records, and the receptionist said it would be awhile because there was nothing in his chart. He smelled horribly and his clearly unviable eye was left hanging on his face. When our vet took him out of his crate, he had on a used, filthy cone attached with rags. His entire bottom and tail had also been shaved, with no reason given. Dr. Ivan, our wonderful vet, took one look/smell and handed him to a tech to be cleaned up and ready his eye for removal. I later found out that upon his initial evaluation at the vet, Gus also had a broken jaw, a crushed sinus cavity, and maggots in his eye socket and mouth. When Dr. Ivan called VSS to question his handling there, she was told, “He’s just a stray.” We had made it clear to their doctor that we planned to keep him as ours. I was furious-that an animal should receive substandard care because it’s a stray, especially when we paid the $600+ bill. After nearly a week he was finally stabilized enough to close his eye wound and wire his jaw. Gus is now a member of our family and is thriving (minus an eye)! I would definitely NOT recommend!!
