The staff here are really great. You can tell they all care about and love what they do. Both the Doctor and tech were amazing with my cat, not to mention extremely knowledgeable and thorough. This place really impressed me and I feel at ease knowing my cat is in such good care. And shout out to Terri who got me in on the cancellation list! Easy 5 stars

Welcome to Veterinary Healing Arts
Veterinary Healing Arts, located at 2740 S County Trl, East Greenwich, RI 02818, USA, presents itself as a distinctive "Pet Hospital" that integrates both conventional veterinary medicine with holistic and alternative therapies. This approach aims to provide comprehensive care that addresses not only symptoms but also the overall well-being and balance of the pet. The practice, led by Dr. Jody, strives to offer a wide range of services, catering to pet owners seeking a more integrated approach to their animal's health in East Greenwich and the surrounding communities.
As a traditional "Pet Hospital," Veterinary Healing Arts operates from a dedicated facility designed to accommodate a blend of conventional and alternative medical practices. The environment likely includes standard examination rooms, a reception area, and potentially specialized spaces for therapies like acupuncture. While specific details about the interior design are not provided, a clinic focused on "healing arts" often aims for a calm, comforting, and less clinical atmosphere to support the holistic approach. It’s a place where modern diagnostic tools and surgical capabilities coexist with rooms or areas conducive to therapies like acupuncture or herbal consultations. The physical space is equipped to handle various procedures, from routine check-ups to more specialized treatments, ensuring a broad spectrum of care is available under one roof. The staff's demeanor, described as "great" and caring, also contributes significantly to the overall welcoming and reassuring environment within the clinic.
Veterinary Healing Arts offers a broad array of services, spanning both conventional and holistic veterinary practices. This integrated approach is a key differentiator. Their services include, but are not limited to:
- Conventional Veterinary Medicine: This encompasses routine wellness exams, vaccinations, preventative care, and diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses. They are equipped to handle various medical conditions using standard veterinary protocols.
- Diagnostic Services: Like a typical pet hospital, they offer necessary diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and likely imaging services like X-rays to accurately diagnose conditions.
- Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services are often a part of a full-service veterinary hospital, ensuring oral health is maintained.
- Surgical Procedures: It's expected that they perform various surgical interventions, from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft tissue surgeries, supported by appropriate anesthetic and monitoring protocols.
- Acupuncture: This is a core holistic therapy offered, used to treat a variety of conditions, from pain management and arthritis to neurological disorders and internal organ imbalances.
- Herbal Medicine: The use of plant-based remedies to support healing and overall health, often tailored to individual pet needs.
- Nutrition Consultation: Recognizing the importance of diet, they likely provide guidance on appropriate nutrition, possibly including a holistic perspective on food choices.
- Allergy Consultations: As evidenced by a customer review, they offer consultations for specific conditions like allergies. However, it's important to note that the depth and approach to such specialized consultations can vary.
The clinic emphasizes finding the underlying causes of health issues, promoting "optimal vitality" and preventing recurrence, aligning with their holistic philosophy. They aim to reduce the need for traditional medications and invasive procedures when possible, often integrating these alternative therapies into a comprehensive treatment plan.
Veterinary Healing Arts stands out due to several key features, though client experiences can offer varying perspectives:
- Knowledgeable and Caring Staff: Multiple reviews praise the staff, including both the doctors and technicians, for being "extremely knowledgeable and thorough" and for genuinely caring about their work and the animals. This indicates a team committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care. Terri, a staff member, was specifically mentioned for her efficiency in managing appointments.
- Integrated Medical Approach: The blend of conventional and holistic therapies (like acupuncture and herbal medicine) is a significant feature, offering pet owners more diverse treatment options than typically found in purely conventional clinics. This approach aims to provide a more personalized and comprehensive healing journey for pets.
- Focus on Overall Wellness: Beyond just treating symptoms, the clinic's philosophy appears to emphasize achieving "optimal vitality" and preventing future health issues, aligning with a proactive and holistic view of pet health.
- Personalized Consultations: The aim is to provide thorough evaluations and explanations, helping pet owners understand their pet's condition and treatment options. The positive reviewer highlights the doctor and tech being "amazing" with their cat and providing a sense of "ease."
However, it's also important to acknowledge a contrasting client experience. One review describes a significant waiting period for a specialized allergy consultation, a high consultation fee ($270), and a feeling of not receiving new information or specific testing (like skin testing) that was expected. This particular experience highlights that while staff may be professional, expectations for specific diagnostic approaches or the perceived value for cost can vary. It suggests that while the clinic provides a valuable service, clients might need to have clear discussions about the expected scope of specialized consultations and associated costs to manage expectations.
Veterinary Healing Arts promotes its services by emphasizing its unique integrated approach to pet care. Their core promotional messages likely revolve around:
- Holistic and Conventional Blend: Highlighting their ability to combine the best of both worlds – advanced conventional diagnostics and treatments with natural, complementary therapies like acupuncture and herbal medicine.
- Personalized Patient Care: Stressing their commitment to treating each pet as an individual, developing customized treatment plans to achieve "optimal vitality."
- Expertise in Alternative Therapies: Promoting their specialized knowledge and experience in areas like acupuncture and herbal medicine, which might attract pet owners seeking alternatives or complements to traditional veterinary care.
- Compassionate and Knowledgeable Team: Leveraging positive testimonials that speak to the caring nature and expertise of their staff and doctors.
- Direct Contact: Encouraging inquiries via phone at (401) 885-1163 (which also serves as their mobile number) for appointments and more information about their services.
While specific promotions like discounts are not provided in the given information, their strong emphasis on a unique service model and commitment to thorough, caring interactions form the cornerstone of their promotional efforts. Pet owners seeking a clinic that offers a wider range of healing modalities beyond conventional treatments would likely find Veterinary Healing Arts to be a compelling option, though they should be prepared to discuss the details and costs of specialized consultations upfront.

Apr 22, 2025 · Laura BI waited four months for my dog’s appointment, he was experiencing a severe flare-up at the time of scheduling. By the time he was finally seen, my dog’s skin had improved. I expected a thorough evaluation, including allergy testing, especially given the $270 consultation fee. However, no skin testing was offered, and I was charged an additional $70 for yeast testing on my dog’s ears and feet. In the end, I left without any clear answers regarding my dog’s allergies. The information provided was no different from what I had already researched or discussed with my regular veterinarian. While the staff was friendly and professional, the overall experience felt more like a costly business transaction rather than a truly helpful consultation. For those with unlimited financial resources, this clinic may be a fine option. However, for pet owners looking for real solutions without excessive costs, I would recommend seeking care elsewhere. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.
Mar 03, 2025 · Leah LouWhat a wonderful practice! I brought my dog, Lt. Barclay, in due to an ongoing ear infection that would not go away. My initial appointment was scheduled several months out. However, delightful Terri got me on the waitlist and I received an appointment MUCH sooner. The staff here are so loving, caring, and professional, and made me feel like my pup was the most amazing, special, perfect good boy in the whole world (he is). Dr. Tapp completed a thorough exam of Barclay's ears, complete with yeast testing. She explained everything to me in a clear, understandable manner. I love that she began Barclay with the simplest treatment option, and gave options for next steps if that did not help. I am so happy that my regular vet referred me to this office, and I could not be more pleased with the treatment and care. Thank you Dr. Tapp and friends!
Apr 14, 2025 · LMDr. Tapp is an angel! After years of trying every different type of dog food, a thousand shampoos, many visits to the Vet and all the Allergy medications on the market. Dr Tapp has finally saved my little Luna. She takes the time to teach you about allergies and how they work. She listens to you and answers any questions. It’s been a long road, finally, my little girl Luna is seeing some relief. Dr. Tapp has a phenomenal team. Christine and Haley are the sweetest. They have patience and kindness and understand how nervous pups can be. They put me and my baby at ease. Thank you, Veterinary Healing Arts!!!
Mar 05, 2025 · Laura SchmidtBefore coming here, I had seen 3 different vets. Those other vets put my dog through hell, couldn’t figure out what was wrong with Mrs Brady. She had different scans/drugs/shampoos and nothing worked. I called Healing Arts, was able to get a next day appointment (luckily due to a cancellation) and within 2 minutes of being there dr Tapp knew what was wrong with my dog. Her and her team were incredibly nice , accommodating but most importantly competent. Within 48 hrs, my dog was back to her old self. We received follow up calls to check in with my dog and also being proactive with the holidays coming, making sure I had what I needed. Couldn’t recommend enough, I will not go anywhere else!!!
