I had the scariest experience when my dog got attacked and had to have an emergency surgery. The VEG handled myself and my dog with care from the moment we walked in and throughout all the visits we had to go back for re-bandaging and just to check if she was getting better. Everyone that worked with us was very informative, passionate, and efficient. I couldn’t have gone through this stress with out their help to ease me and my dog. They made me feel welcomed and heard every visit. I am so thankful for the VEG! and i want to give a huge shoutout to Zoe and Hannah for giving my dog extra loving and care ❤️

Nov 27, 2024 · Meg KrullThis was one of the most painful and traumatic experiences of my life that I hope no one ever has to go through. Our sweet bunny, Margie Rose, was staying at a nearby exotic animal hospital for emergency seizure care and had to be transferred to VEG for overnight care of IVs and medication. She left the animal hospital for transfer to VEG in a critical but much more improved condition than earlier that day. Things were improving and looking up. We were so excited to hang out with her and provide love to her at this place. But the horror began as soon as we got there. It took a staff member about 20 minutes to give us basic vitals. She was on seizure watch, and we asked a few times to the staff members if she should have an IV, and they brushed us off. We were not more insistent because we were spending more time loving and cuddling her since she was finally seizure-free at the moment and stabilized. After waiting 2 hours, we got into the exotic animals room, even though it was open the whole 2 hours we waited. She had her first seizure soon after we got into the room, and she was injected with some seizure medication, but still no IV. She continued to seize, with each time being worse, and the staff got slower and more carefree each time. It reached a point where I needed to make a scene to get someone to get off their computer or have any urgency to take care of our sweet girl. The doctors and the nurses were horrific. Our doctor and her coworker spent more time asking and running our payments than caring for our little girl. It was so egregious that at one point, Margie Rose was having back-to-back seizures, and they were in the front running payments with the IV and the seizure drip sitting in the room, not even close to being set up for our sweet, beautiful baby. We were told by one of the doctors on staff that we needed to sign a contract for 12-hour care, which they charged us for, and she died about one and a half hours later. Anytime we asked her questions, it was an “I don’t know” or “I am not sure” with no intention of finding anything out. It seemed they had given up on her and us very early on. With each seizure, they kept bringing up the idea of putting her down. Over time, as the seizures got to be more excruciating, we decided to put our sweet, beloved Margie Rose down. She was in so much pain towards the end and did not deserve any of this. Afterward, we spent time saying our goodbyes. We wanted to leave and bring our girl home. They had no urgency to come to check in on us, and the doctor had to be flagged down to come back and get her ready to bring home. I am heartbroken and devastated about my little girl. She was my beautiful, unique, sweet baby. Margie Rose was my world, my best friend, and my other half. My family and I are beyond distraught and heartbroken that our girl is not with us here today. Our other bunny and dog have realized she is no longer with them, and they are devastated. They stare and lay where she used to be. We and our animals are grief-stricken without our Marge. We are forever traumatized by what VEG allowed our girl to go through. She DID NOT DESERVE THAT AT ALL. PLEASE NEVER BRING AN EXOTIC ANIMAL HERE.
Aug 16, 2024 · Natalia RybarczykIf I could give 0 stars ⭐️ I would. I had taken my puppy Izzy to VEG in Oak Brook on 6/3/24 and it has taken me a few months to post this since I am still dealing with the loss of my sweet girl. Izzy was not feeling well at all. She wasn’t eating, very lethargic & had diarrhea. They recommended bloodwork as well as X-rays. The total was $1,257 which shocked me but I agreed since I wanted her to feel better. The whole time Izzy & were there, the staff was on there computers, it was never easy to get someone’s attention to answer questions. When your pet, which is your family member, is suffering you want to feel that people care but it didn’t feel that way. After getting the results of the tests, they had no helpful information & my little girl wasn’t any better. I then explained that I was concerned that she may have lost a lot of fluids & asked what could be done. Instead of talking to me I received a text with a total of $175 for fluids. I tried numerous times to get someone’s attention to speak about other alternatives since I already paid $1,257. They finally acknowledged me then gave me information on what I could do for her at home. She still wasn’t improving so I got her into her regular vet and they did an ultrasound which was $600. I got the results and Izzy had cancer. She took a drastic turn for the worst just a few days later. I couldn’t let her suffer any longer so Izzy went to Rainbow Bridge on 6/21/24. It kills me that my beautiful girl is gone & I’m still paying CareCredit for the VEG bill and they did absolutely nothing to help her. They didn’t even offer to do an ultrasound. Her regular vet was so caring & much more reasonable. I know you are paying for the convenience of after hours care but the care received was not acceptable especially since my little girl wasn’t helped & I don’t think it needed to cost so much. Some additional back story, I had to take Izzy there in May 2023 for a growth on her paw. They diagnosed it as an infection & gave antibiotics. It actually ended up being a mast cell tumor. Izzy ended up having an amputation & did amazing after everything she went thru. 2 separate visits to VEG & both were awful. Any further emergencies with my other pet, I definitely don’t plan to go to VEG. They also need to work on caring & compassion.
Sep 08, 2024 · Denise McLain10/10 experience overall. If I could rate higher I would. The receptionist at my veterinarian office referred my cat, Norman, to VEG because her pets have been patients there as well. We were seen immediately, the staff was so kind, and they made sure to clearly communicate with me through everything. There was a massive rush of people coming in while we were there and the staff didn’t let it rattle them at all. Their patience and kindness never wavered once. I denied one service due to financial restraint, which can feel embarrassing sometimes, but the staff was so kind with providing me with alternatives and reassuring me my cat would be taken care of regardless. Overall the cost was reasonable, staff was AMAZINGGGG and I was at peace when I left knowing that Norman truly got the best care he could have received that day. Thank you VEG and Dr. Todd!
Sep 02, 2024 · Taylor TOur sweet Freya was treated with the utmost respect and care from the second we arrived until our final goodbye. We are forever grateful for the time and space to say goodbye to our sweet girl...there was nothing else anyone could do for her except allow us to love on her in her final moments and make her as comfortable as possible. Thank you for making a truly terrible situation as comfortable and bearable as possible.
