They were very nice and handled my cat work care. Did cost me $170 for shots and flea treatment with a coupon for a free first visit (109.00 discount). So if this seems expensive for you, you may want to check around.

As a prominent establishment in the Pet Hospital category, Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital aims to be a trusted partner in ensuring the health and well-being of your pets. While specific details about the hospital's environment are not explicitly provided in the given information, it is reasonable to infer that a professional veterinary setting prioritizes cleanliness, comfort, and a welcoming atmosphere for both pets and their owners. A well-maintained and organized environment is crucial for delivering effective medical care and minimizing stress for animals during their visit. Typically, a pet hospital like Vetco Total Care would feature examination rooms equipped for various procedures, potentially a surgical suite for more complex interventions, and possibly separate waiting areas to accommodate different types of animals and reduce anxiety.

Based on the available information, Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital offers a range of essential veterinary services. One customer review specifically mentions receiving shots and flea treatment for their cat. This indicates that the hospital provides preventative care services, which are vital for maintaining the long-term health of pets. Vaccinations are crucial for protecting animals from various infectious diseases, while flea treatment is essential for their comfort and to prevent infestations that can lead to other health issues. The mention of a coupon for a free first visit (resulting in a $109.00 discount) suggests that Vetco Total Care may offer promotional incentives to attract new clients, making their services more accessible to pet owners in the Salem area.

Beyond basic preventative care, it is highly probable that a full-service Pet Hospital like Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital offers a broader spectrum of medical services. These typically include:

  • General Wellness Exams: Regular check-ups are essential for early detection of health issues and maintaining overall well-being.
  • Diagnostic Services: This can include laboratory testing (blood work, urine analysis, etc.), imaging (X-rays, ultrasound), and other procedures to diagnose illnesses and injuries.
  • Surgical Procedures: From routine surgeries like spaying and neutering to more complex operations, a well-equipped animal hospital often provides surgical interventions.
  • Dental Care: Maintaining good dental health is crucial for pets' overall health, and services may include teeth cleaning, extractions, and treatment of dental diseases.
  • Emergency Care: While not explicitly mentioned, many animal hospitals offer services for urgent medical situations. It would be advisable to contact Vetco Total Care directly to inquire about their emergency protocols and hours.
  • Medication and Prescription Services: Providing necessary medications and prescriptions for various health conditions.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Offering guidance on proper diet and nutrition to support pets' health at different life stages.
  • Microchipping: A vital service for pet identification and increasing the chances of reuniting lost pets with their owners.

One of the standout features of Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital, as highlighted in a customer review, is the exceptional quality of care and the compassionate approach of their staff. The reviewer specifically praised Dr. Hagenloh, Karlee, and Crystal for making them feel "seen, and validated, and generally cared for." This level of personalized attention and empathy is crucial in veterinary medicine, as it can significantly ease the stress and anxiety often associated with vet visits for both pets and their owners. The reviewer further noted that all concerns were addressed in an "informative and compassionate manner," leaving them feeling "heard, respected, and knowledgeable about all the options available." This positive feedback underscores the importance of clear communication, patient education, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare at Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital.

The fact that a customer who initially experienced a booking error at another location expressed gratitude for the mix-up and stated they would "absolutely be returning" speaks volumes about the positive experience they had at Vetco Total Care. This suggests that the level of service and care provided exceeded expectations and left a lasting positive impression.

While the first review mentioned the cost of services, noting that $170 was spent on shots and flea treatment after a $109 discount, it's important for pet owners to understand that veterinary care costs can vary depending on the specific services required, the size and species of the animal, and the geographical location. The reviewer themselves advised potential clients to "check around" if the cost seemed high, which is always a prudent step for any healthcare service. However, the overwhelmingly positive experience described in the second review suggests that the quality of care at Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital may justify the cost for many pet owners who prioritize a thorough and compassionate approach.

In summary, Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital, located in Salem, Oregon, appears to be a reputable Pet Hospital dedicated to providing a range of veterinary services, including preventative care such as vaccinations and flea treatment. A significant feature highlighted by customer feedback is the exceptional and compassionate care provided by their team, including Dr. Hagenloh, Karlee, and Crystal. While costs should always be a consideration for pet owners, the positive experiences shared suggest that Vetco Total Care prioritizes patient well-being and clear communication, fostering trust and confidence in their services. For local users in Salem and the surrounding areas seeking a reliable and caring Pet Hospital for their animal companions, Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital is certainly worth considering. I ended up here due to a booking error at the other Salem location (my fault) and am so grateful for the mix up - I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Dr. Hagenloh, Karlee, and Crystal! I have never felt so seen, and validated, and generally cared for in a doctor's office of any kind, including a vet. All of my concerns were addressed in an informative and compassionate manner. Despite walking in ready to just crash out, and getting potentially worrisome news, I left feeling heard, respected, and knowledgeable about all the options available to me. 10/10 recommend, will absolutely be returning.

We arrived 10 minutes early as my text reminder instructed me to do, and then sat in the hot, uncomfortable cubicle for ages. My appointment was set for 11. We left at 11:30 without seeing a vet, without anyone coming to tell us they were running behind, what sort of ETA they might have, or anything. I have a stressed cat, with issues of coughing that I'm worried about, and we're not given the time of day. I could hear the vets going into other appointments and apologize for being late, but 30 minutes without checking in is insane. When we left, the front receptionist was sitting there and said nothing to us as we passed. If they care about any pets, it's dogs, IF that. This isn't the first time it's taken ages for us to be seen at VetCo. I'm cancelling my VetCo monthly service and switching vet providers.

Took our dog Koda for an annual check up appointment and to remove her drain from her incident of being attacked by another dog, which was not on a leash in our apartment complex last Thursday (March 27th). The staff were friendly, patient and helpful when it came to her recover instructions.

The staff was incredibly kind, helpful and understanding. I had a tough decision to put my dog down, but they made the experience as good as it could be. I would recommend the Commercial Street Vetco and will be back for the same procedure in the future.
