**PET PARENTS BEWARE** The staff at this clinic is either not knowledgeable enough, lacks experience or they are just scared to deal with some situations. Also prices are pretty excessive. My cat Karma was having diahrrea and vomit on a wednesday. By thursday night she was already looking better but then friday morning I noticed her very lethargic and with heavy breathing. Thinking she was getting dehydrated I decided to take her to the vet. After a few calls to different doctors I made the choice on VCA. The price for the physical exam was higher than other places ($115) but they had a coupon for a free exam on first visits so I headed there. Coming in everybody was really nice, the nurse asked me questions and explained what the plan was. They were going to charge me $115 for a fecal exam. I agreed to it, so they took Karma to check her vitals. Well, here is where everything took a turn. After a few minutes the doctor comes through the door and drops the biggest bomb on me. She tells me Karma's heart is failing and her lungs sound like they have fluid in them. An x ray needs to be done to get a diagnostic and she might need oxygen so she says I need to take her to ER but warns me I might be looking at a $2000-$3500 bill or more if she needs a cardiologist and still she can't guarantee Karma will get better. At this point I'm already a mess but then she suggests that if I don't have the funds for that, the other option is to put her down...When I tell you the emotional damage this caused me! I asked about doing the x-rays there at VCA instead, expecting it to be cheaper. I was told it would cost me $800 to get them done there plus I think she said other $400 to keep her there until they had time to deal with her... Looking back none of this made sense but I was in such poor mental state that I wasn't processing it. Now, the only reason I am giving 2 stars is because they truly honored the cupon and didn't charge me anything. I left. I ended up refusing everyhting and taking Karma somehwere else for a second opinion. Best thing I did. I took her to Birkdale Animal Hospital in Huntersville by somebody's reccomendation. They only charged me $250 for the x-rays, kept her in observation for $0 and diagnosed her with pneumonia. We were sent home with antibiotics and only a $417 total bill. Karma is now fully recovered and doing well. I belive the staff at VCA had the best intentions to help but just don't think they are super competent. Always get a second opinion if you're able to.

My heart is heavy writing this review. I had a 4pm appointment for my German Shepherd who was not being her usual self. After letting her use the potty outside, I walked in at 4:03 PM and stood behind another customer dropping off her dog to be boarded and who was inconsiderately chatting away with the girl at the desk. When it was my turn (now 4:13 PM) I got the, "I'm sorry you are more than 10 minutes late, we cant see you". "You can wait to be squeezed in and it'll be a 1.5 - 2 hour wait, or you can come back tomorrow morning" I told her I wasn't late and that I'd been standing there the whole time and she nodded and said she'd go ask her manager since "technically it's my fault you waited this long to be checked in " - the girl comes back and says "the doctor is busy with a Euthanasia situation, so its going to be a while - I recommend you reschedule for tomorrow " I Reiterated that I felt like my girl wasnt well, but received Zero compassion or understanding in return. I waited 30 minutes and then made the decision to go home and let my dog rest comfortably rather than the stressful environment of being at the vet. I chose to go to another vet the next morning. It was too late 💔💔 We had to say goodbye to the most gentle, sweetest dog anyone could ask for. I am not pointing all the blame on VCA completely... but had she been seen at her appointment rather then the desk girl chatting away and then saying I was late when in fact I was not , things could have had a very different outcome, and my girl would still be here with us. 💔 Do better please VCA. 😔

I've taken my pup here for a year now and while it's pricier than where I used to live I think the higher cost of living in charlotte accounts for that. The staff is friendly and currently has curbside dropoff/pickup available although if you live nearby and walk there's a bench outside you can wait on. The service is speedy, I've never had to wait long and they'll go over everything with you on the phone. I like the convenience of this location and they also offer boarding and daycare.

Had such a great experience coming here for the first time. They were able to get my kitty in same day even though he was a new patient. The front office staff and technician were wonderful, friendly and very efficient. Dr. Moskowitz was such a kind vet that you can tell really cares. She was so patient, took her time, and was very understanding when we went over treatment options for my budget. I look forward to continuing to come here and bring my other kitty for her annual!!

Would avoid having Caroline the vet service your pet if possible. After my dog was attacked by a pitbull I brought him into VCA where he is seen normally and knew he would be safe and comfortable with them. Once they were done the vet called me back into the room to blame me basically for my dogs attack she showed no empathy concern or care for me or my dog other than trying to rack up an even higher bill. Telling me to neuter my dog (which “they can do right there”) who I wish to have puppies so why would I do that, told me I don’t have flea and tick prevention and is careless of me to do so which I do but is sourced outside of their office being that it’s cheaper and instead of her asking first she went straight to berating. This was such an emotional and traumatizing event to see your dog be attacked and there’s little you can do and VCA being my dogs primary vet I’m considering switching him to a new vet due to the lack of care or empathy I was shown from Caroline.
