Mar 10, 2025 · Nicole WorthyThis is not our regular vet, but we had an emergency & the staff were incredibly flexible with seeing us, & gave us a lot of options with what we wished to do moving forward with our cat. We saw 3 different doctors over 3 different visits & they were all lovely, along with a lovely reception staff. I'm so thankful for them during this difficult time.
Jan 04, 2025 · Kelly McQuittyI recently got a puppy, small black lab. Took her to a couple different vets to see what was in my area and I can say without a doubt I would not use the VCA ever again. Their staff was friendly but all they do is try to push their pet insurance on you and charge ridiculous fees. There are better vets in Kalamazoo that don't charge you an arm and leg. I would definitely explore other options than just this place. Very disappointed in their service and the way the practice at this office. They also work with animal shelters in the area for after pets are adopted which I think was really cool but for the prices they wanted after, def better options where you aren't forced to get pet insurance.
Nov 16, 2024 · Javin HarringMy family has been using this vet practice for maybe 20 years? Before it was VCA. And while the faces have changed over the years, and we have been sad to see some of our favorite people go, great people have joined up. It used to be a little more homey feeling, like you knew everyone and they recognized you. Thats gone now for the most part. But they greet you like friends. The people at the front desk are friendly and personable. They are also kind and compassionate. I have called in tears when my dog was very sick, and they listened through my sniffles. The vet techs are great with the dogs and have treats at the ready for guys who are reluctant to get on the scale. (Who isn't?!) The vets are also knowledgeable and thorough, and they don't rush you. Their love for animals comes through, and our vet gets down to the dogs level. (Which isn't possible for everyone, but is nice when able.) The practice was also very respectful and compassionate when we had to put our beloved dog to sleep. The room they use has its own exit so you don't have to go by everyone potentially with tears streaming. Those are the great things. The downside is, it is very pricey. Vet care everywhere is expensive, and VCA's are not an exception. It is above a lot of the prices around here, at least for things like nail trims and basic exams. They will also charge for everything. What you think is a regular appointment could be billed as a physical, which is higher. Also, buy your medication online. I save 15.00 a month on one, and 12.00 a month on another, not including my flea and heartworm. On the balance, I'm happy. We have thought about changing because of price, but the pros outweigh the cons for us. If cost wasn't a factor, I absolutely recommend it. Good Luck!
Oct 12, 2024 · Andrea WellmanMy old guy was really not feeling well and I needed to get into the Vet asap. My current Vet had a last minute appointment for me but reneged and then could not make space for us. To be fair it was a Monday, which can get kinda crazy at a Vet office. I called Oshtemo Animal Hospital and they got back to me right away to come in as a new client. The front staff was very nice. When I arrived the parking was easy, the lobby was clean and we got into a room quick. Dr. Amber Dickson was great! Loved the ease of her exam and treatment plan. She listened with empathy to my concerns and seemed in lock step with our needs for our pup. We got medications filled and recheck exam set up. I got everything I needed that day and was happy with the price. They are not cheap, nor should they be for excellent care. I believe the pricing to be fair. More so, we are happy to have finally found a Veterinary hospital of quality in the Kalamazoo area. Thanks Dr. Dickson
