I adopted my dog from a Humane Society in Washington State 4 years ago. He was surrender by a family that abused him, he showed up to the pound with a broken leg, and was extremely skittish and became easily aggravated when I adopted him. I had to change my entire life to accommodate his needs, and he became the most important thing in my life. He is by my side all the time. He has become an incredibly calm, well adjusted, and responsive dog, I am immeasurably proud of him. We are currently moving from Washington to Georgia, funds are tight, and we are driving across the country in my car. My dog has had reccuring ear infections, and had a collection of health issues when he was surrendered. All of which has subsided in the last 4 years. He has never had fleas, ticks, or worms. When I am at home I cook him homemade food, but during this transition I have been feeding him dog food. Leading up to leaving Washington I began to ween him back onto processed dog food, knowing that most of the hotels, and hostiles I was going to be staying at do not have a kitchen for me to cook his food in. 3 days ago he started to bite at his tail, which he has never done. I found a singular flea on him, so I had him treated for fleas. But he continued to bite at his tail, and the wound started to become infected, he also became to scoot, so I wondered if his anal glads were assessing and thought he might need to have them expressed. So I made an appointment to take him to this veterinary clinic knowing I would be passing through Franklin at this time. They had a coupon for a free first exam, which was releaving because I am on a strict budget right now. There was no wait time, they called me back almost immediately when I arrived. Because of my dog's time in the pound he becomes quite anxious when in the vet, he is significantly less well behaved. Back home I have a friend who is a veterinarian, and she makes home visits for him, which aids this anxiety. This is the first time he has been in a vets office in years. They were very accommodating to his anxiaty, and we're very helpfull. The veterinarian gave me helpful advise, and wrote me a script for antibiotics for his infection. hey expressed his anal glads, and said that they wern't absessing. She stated that he should be eating home cooked food, which I already knew, and told me not to give him chicken (which was new information for me). She stated that he was most likely scooting because of the processed food, and that his reoccurring ear infections were also due to the processed food. Which was a shock to me because he has only been eating processed food for two weeks, including the time I weened him onto it. I am very greatfull for there help, advice, and understanding. I will say at one point the veterinarian commented on my diet, and insinuated that I was unhealthy because I was drinking a red bull during our visit, which felt very unperfessional, and made me quite uncomfortable. But other than that it was a great experience.

Nov 25, 2024 · Izzy WheelerDr. Eva Decozio is nothing short of an incredible vet. She was throughout, diligent and kind about our sweet Stella. She saved my sweet pups life! Dr. Decozio made me feel heard and showed loving compassion for my Stella!!! She is wonderful! I love that she had many natural recommendations to help my pup. You won’t regret seeing her! She’s a diamond in the rough!
Mar 03, 2024 · Nicole BartonWhere to begin!! Back in 2021 our sweet dog came down with a bad cough and was very lethargic. We took her in, had a full work-up and x-rays of her chest and they said it was probably just kennel cough. I noted that she had not been around other dogs for weeks so I thought that was unlikely, but that’s what we went with. Fast forward to 3 days later and my dog could barely breathe or walk. Took her back over here without an appointment and was asked to wait in the car and they would send a doctor out to me. A super sweet lady came out and asked what was going on, then said she was going to go look at the x-rays from 3 days earlier. She immediately saw that my dog had pneumonia based on the x-ray, which should’ve been found the first time, and my dog was admitted to an animal hospital where she spent 5 days under their care. It cost $5,000 and my wife and I were an emotional wreck over the fact we might lose our dog. She had deteriorated so fast that she had to spend 2 days in an oxygen chamber. If it wasn’t for her youth, she probably would have died! Thankfully, over the next couple weeks she got better. Accidents happen, we were just so happy to have our sweet girl in good health that we were willing to give it another shot here because that lady was so sweet and found out what was really going on. Routine visits have all been fine, however here we go again. Our dog gets sick and they totally miss again! This time our dog seemed like she had an allergic reaction to something and was treated with Benadryl and antibiotic ear drops for an ear infection. Waited a couple weeks, the allergic reaction was gone but one of her ears was still awful. Took her back in, they said it was still just an infection and to continue the drops. Took her elsewhere because I just couldn’t trust them, what do you know they were wrong again!! She has ear mites and after googling a picture about them after leaving the other vet I cannot believe they didn’t know immediately!!! It is literally the most obvious lookalike picture I have ever seen! Thousands of dollars wasted for horrible veterinary service, this place is lucky animals can’t speak…they’d be out of business quick!
Oct 03, 2024 · Michael JonesThey take outstanding care of my pets. Kind, knowledgeable and understanding.
Apr 01, 2025 · Leanne WI would recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone. The staff are very caring about their clients and families. I have known one of the vets for over 30 years. My mother drove from East Tennessee with her dogs to see Dr. Gerone, he is that good! For the best care, anywhere is worth the drive to McKay's Mill.
