I trust this clinic with all my heart and appreciate all the receptionist, tech, assistants and vets who work here. My 13 year old Great Dane has gone here since she was a puppy and we typically see Dr. Arthur Lahm, but I have also had the pleasure of being seen by Dr. James Schulke for one of my cats’ spay appointments. As someone who owns a cat who is TERRIFIED at the vet I appreciate the really quiet lobby and compassionate love and care every one of my animals have received here. It’s definitely on the pricier end and I can’t always afford to do everything for them here but it’s always worth the price. I like VCA in general for having an app I can use that has access to all my pets records and information

Welcome to VCA Delta Oaks Animal Hospital
VCA Delta Oaks Animal Hospital, located at 1020 Green Acres Rd Ste 5, Eugene, OR 97408, USA, is a prominent veterinary practice serving the community of Eugene, Oregon, and its surrounding areas. As a facility operating under the "Pet Hospital" category and part of the larger VCA Animal Hospitals network, it aims to provide comprehensive medical care for beloved companion animals. For appointments or inquiries, the hospital can be reached at (541) 345-7970 or via mobile at +1 541-345-7970.
As a VCA Animal Hospital, VCA Delta Oaks is designed to offer a professional and functional environment for veterinary care. This typically includes a welcoming reception area, comfortable waiting spaces, private examination rooms, and specialized areas for diagnostics, surgery, and hospitalization. A notable environmental feature, as highlighted by a client, is the "really quiet lobby." This is a significant advantage, particularly for pets who are easily stressed or "TERRIFIED at the vet," such as cats. A calm and low-noise environment helps reduce anxiety in animal patients, making the veterinary visit a less traumatic experience for them and their owners. The overall design aims to create a setting where medical procedures can be performed efficiently while prioritizing the comfort and safety of all animal patients.
VCA Delta Oaks Animal Hospital offers a wide array of veterinary services to address the diverse health needs of pets throughout their lives. As a "Pet Hospital," their offerings are expected to include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Preventive & Wellness Care: This foundational aspect encompasses routine physical examinations, customized vaccination protocols to protect against common diseases, effective parasite control (including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention), and individualized nutritional counseling. Wellness plans are often available to help clients manage the costs of preventive care.
- Diagnostic Services: The hospital would be equipped with advanced diagnostic tools to accurately identify and assess health conditions. This typically includes comprehensive in-house laboratory testing for quick results (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams), as well as advanced imaging techniques such as digital radiography (X-rays) and ultrasonography for detailed internal assessments.
- Medical Treatment & Internal Medicine: Providing thorough care for a wide range of illnesses, chronic conditions, and complex internal medical issues. This involves precise diagnosis, appropriate medication prescription, and the development of tailored treatment plans.
- Surgical Services: Offering both routine and advanced surgical procedures. This would include common surgeries like spaying and neutering (as mentioned in a review for a cat's spay appointment), as well as soft tissue surgeries for mass removals, wound repair, and other necessary interventions. State-of-the-art anesthetic monitoring and pain management protocols would be in place to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services are crucial for overall pet health, including professional dental cleanings, dental X-rays, and extractions when necessary.
- Emergency and Urgent Care: While not specified as a 24/7 emergency clinic, most VCA locations provide urgent care during business hours for unexpected injuries or sudden illnesses, ensuring pets receive timely attention.
- Pharmacy Services: An in-house pharmacy for convenient dispensing of necessary medications, pain management, and prescription diets.
- Referral to Specialists: As part of the VCA network, they can facilitate referrals to specialists for highly complex cases that require expertise beyond general practice, ensuring pets receive the most advanced care possible.
VCA Delta Oaks Animal Hospital possesses several key features that contribute to its reputation and service quality:
- Experienced and Trusted Veterinarians: The hospital benefits from experienced veterinarians, with Dr. Arthur Lahm and Dr. James Schulke specifically mentioned in client feedback. Dr. Lahm is a long-standing veterinarian for a 13-year-old Great Dane, indicating long-term trust and consistent care. Dr. Schulke is also positively noted for his care during a cat's spay appointment. This highlights the presence of skilled medical professionals dedicated to their patients.
- Compassionate Love and Care: Clients consistently praise the "compassionate love and care every one of my animals have received here." This empathy is a crucial factor for pet owners, especially during stressful vet visits, and indicates a team that genuinely cares for the well-being of the animals.
- Client-Friendly Technology (VCA App): A significant modern feature is the availability of the VCA app. This app allows pet owners to access all their pets' records and information, which is a valuable tool for managing pet health, tracking vaccinations, and staying informed about their pet's medical history.
- Quiet Lobby Environment: As previously mentioned, the "really quiet lobby" is a distinct feature that significantly benefits anxious or "terrified" pets, contributing to a less stressful visit for sensitive animals.
- Perceived Value of Care: Despite being described as "on the pricier end," at least one long-term client affirms that the care is "always worth the price." This indicates a strong belief in the quality and value of the veterinary services provided, even at a higher cost.
VCA Delta Oaks Animal Hospital, being part of the VCA Animal Hospitals network, likely benefits from centralized promotional efforts and offerings. Common VCA promotions often include:
- VCA Wellness Plans: These are structured preventive care plans that allow clients to budget for annual pet health needs with predictable monthly payments, often including exams, vaccinations, and other services.
- New Client Offers: VCA often provides incentives like a "FREE First Exam" for new clients, encouraging individuals to experience their services firsthand.
- Online Presence and Tools: The VCA app is a major promotional and convenience tool, allowing clients easy access to records, appointment scheduling, and communication with the clinic. Their website would also provide comprehensive information on services, doctors, and possibly educational resources.
However, it is crucial to address the mixed client feedback. While the professional medical care and the veterinarians themselves receive high praise, there is significant concern raised by a client regarding the front office communication and professionalism. The recounted incident involves perceived disrespect and unhelpful responses during a follow-up interaction. This highlights that while the core veterinary care might be exceptional, the initial or peripheral client interactions can heavily influence overall satisfaction and retention. For potential clients, this mixed feedback means weighing the acknowledged high quality of veterinary care against concerns about customer service at the administrative level.
In conclusion, VCA Delta Oaks Animal Hospital presents itself as a dedicated "Pet Hospital" in Eugene, OR, offering comprehensive veterinary services with experienced and compassionate veterinarians like Dr. Lahm and Dr. Schulke. Its quiet environment and the convenience of the VCA app are notable advantages. While the quality of medical care is highly regarded, prospective clients might consider the varied experiences reported regarding front office interactions when making their choice.

May 18, 2024 · Annamae OconnellI got a follow up text the day after my visit that was initially appreciated. I responded with a short story stating her temperament and said thank you for checking back. I wanna know why the lady, I believe it was Sherri, texting me said “well I would keep her away from the unfixed males in the house. Have a nice day.” … I never said she was going to see them at all, and I never asked for that advice. I was just letting her know my cat was okay. So I called the clinic to ask if that was the type of interaction she meant to have with me. I called, my call was picked up, I announced myself and was hung up on. I called again to clarify that I was being treated in that way. “I’m sorry you feel that way” was the resolution to the disrespect I encountered. 0/10 would not recommend. If the receptionist can’t even do her job with respect, I wonder what standards the rest of the practice follows behind closed doors.
Jan 28, 2025 · Lora JamesThe doctors at VCA Delta Oaks are the best. They've been great with new puppies, aging doggos, and there when we had to say goodbye to a beloved family member. They are so kind and supportive, and their staff is amazing.
Jan 21, 2025 · Rita VerdugoFirst time visit for a routine checkup and vaccines for my lab. What a wonderful experience! Easy scheduling, and I was able to fill out all the paperwork pre-visit. Greeted by wonderful staff, my boy received a thorough exam and the Doc and Tech took their time to talk through my dog's medical conditions. We left highly satisfied and we even received a follow-up text the next day to check in on how he was doing after receiving his vaccines. One of the best vet experiences ever. We will return.
Oct 18, 2024 · Todd ThomasIn the past I had left a low rating at this location, however in the last few months they've really turned my opinion around. I know that the staff knew I had left a review that commented on my regret and yet no one has made me feel like my cats wouldn't be given the best care possible still. Dr. Dave as always is still an amazing doctor who can put my mind at ease. I bring my cats in every two weeks because we are in the care club. I originally was really regretful about participating but now I'm glad my cats see their doctor more than I do. Helps put my mind as a new cat owner at ease. Overall, my opinion has changed. Join care club, visit often and make a great choice for your pet.
