VCA Animal Hospitals Urgent Care - Skokie

I took my dog Thor to the Skokie VCA Urgent Care after he injured himself playing fetch and had to get a toe nail removed. The staff was incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive throughout the entire visit. The facility was clean and comfortable, which made a stressful situation much easier. Highly recommend!

Really positive experience at this new VCA urgent care facility. It was very clean and peaceful. No front desk when you walk in, just a quiet room with some snacks and drinks while you wait to be called into a private patient room. We got there early so we waited a while but they have an online waiting room system that gives you a pretty accurate estimate of when you’ll be seen so you can arrive when they’re ready for you. The staff was really attentive and kind and you could tell they were not only very knowledgeable but true animal lovers. The doctor had a sense of humor and a demeanor that calmed our nerves and lessened the gravity of our anxieties about our dog. The staff wasn’t pushy about adding services or medications and was upfront about costs. Like most vet visits it wasn’t cheap but it was way less costly than going to the emergency hospital. We were really happy with our experience here.

This was the absolutely best experience I’ve ever had with my dog Bishop at a vet urgent care/emergency setting. It’s an absolute CRIME to shut this place down!! They are spectacular and you can’t find this kind of service anywhere near this area. The urgent care in Northbrook treated Bishop terribly so I’m so sad to see this place go. Amazing staff, Vet, Prices and a clean and inviting atmosphere! Bishop injured his paw suddenly this morning and i got to the clinic super early and they let me come inside and wait. He’s a little shy and acts very delicate but the vet was so gentle with him. Loved this clinic so much! I hope to encounter this staff and vet again.

I am quite frankly disappointed at this facility. It has taken some time for me to review as I visited this location last week on Sunday. My baby was having problems using the bathroom. I brought her there to be seen and diagnosed. First of all the doctor (I unfortunately don't have his name) had said Pepper was suffering from a stress related uti based on what I told him. He also noted she was dehydrated as well. He had the tech give her antibiotics but no fluids for the dehydration. He also didn't take a blood sample. Very bad on his part as I thought he was a reputable professional. I took my girl to her regular vet place the next day and requested them to help with the dehydration. They thought this urgent care place should have given her fluids and thought it strange they didn't. I think it is best they are officially closing this location at the end of this month as I wouldn't have recommended them moving forward.

We had a great experience with our cat Louie Provenza at VCA Urgent Care in Skokie. Tara (our patient coordinator), Sandy (our vet tech), and Dr. Sixsmith were professional and personable. I highly recommend them. Also, they send a payment link to pay with a card, so don’t expect to pay with cash or check. One more thing for this year only: We unexpectedly had the exam fee waived because our cat is in VCA’s Care Club. As I understand it, that will no longer be the case next year.
