BUYER BEWARE! You'd better have a lot of money to go here. Hidden fees, surprise appointments/vaccinations. Have had my dogs groomed at VCA for quite a few years now. In the last year, that cost of the groomer vs. what I'm charged varies. No one at the front desk can explain the extra costs. Just state, "it's how the computer comes up with the total...nothing we can do." I was even charged a "hazard waste disposal charge" when the only thing that was done was my dog being washed. Hidden fees and really high costs all around. Additionally, I keep getting reminders that my dogs are due for their annual visit, yet they were there 5 months prior. When I inquire, they say that they suggest dogs come TWICE a year for preventative maintenance. Interesting how no one said that, nor have I read it anywhere. I just get a postcard with a notice. When I call, they say "it's just a suggestion". I've had much better success in Latham, Clifton Park and Glens Falls. When I asked for my dog's records, they told me they were electronic. I asked for them to print them and was told they couldn't do that, but could email them in the next few days. What the heck??? Again, buyer beware...and search elsewhere for better service. As a side note, Dawn, the groomer is terrific. Too bad where she works simply is not.

Absolutely love it here. I will admit when I first started bringing my dog here about 5 years ago I wasn’t overly happy. The receptions specifically were a bit rude and unhelpful. But in the past few years there has been new staff members added and now I love it here. The reception staff specifically is phenomenal. They are so kind, knowledgeable and compassionate. Any problems I’ve had with my dog they get me in right away and are super flexible. The vet tech/assisting staff is also amazing. Again overall just super kind, knowledgeable and compassionate. The Dr’s are great I personally see Dr.Judge normally and he’s the best! Very informative, caring and trusting of the animals them selves. Having a pit mix I’ve had a few experiences at different vet facilities where you can tell the Dr is a little standoffish and nervous. Not Dr.Judge, he gets right on the floor and close to my pup. Even lets my dog give him kisses while he gets his vaccines. I’ve had to do a couple drop off visits over the years and they are so great about calling and keeping you updated through out the day. Even regular visits if there is something wrong they always have gone out of their way a couple days after the visit to call and make sure my dog is doing well. Can’t recommend this office enough. Thank you for always taking great care of my dog Benny!

So thankful for the team at this location. I just moved here and hadn’t established a vet for my pup. My girl underwent a spay at another location 2 days prior, and I woke up to excessive blood and diarrhea. I had heard good things about this location and was there before they opened the doors. As soon as they unlocked the door they brought us in, addressed all my concerns, came up with a plan of treatment and executed it. This will be my vet moving forward.

I was informed that after my cats first two shots that he would be alright to get neutered. Awesome make the appointment I was told to bring in a feces sample and was NOT informed that it was optional or a paid service, whatever no big deal. Now somehow there was an appointment made for a “booster” which I diddnt make nor was I informed of either. Very dishonest people.

VCA Adirondack Animal Hospital The kitten killers Here comes a rant. I brought my newly found stray to VCA on Ridge road in Queensbury. She was malnourished, but very energetic and healthy otherwise. She was given her first exam where she weighed out at 1 pound 3 ounces. She was aged somewhere between 6-8 weeks. I was told her teeth were healthy, she was most likely a bit underweight for her age which was understandable consider her unfortunate circumstances before we had met. She did however have a flea and tick problem. The vet gave me a dose of revolution to take home that is applied on the back of the neck. She directed me to give her another bath in order to get the remaining “flea dirt” out of her fur, and then apply the revolution flea and tick treatment as instructed once she was dry. I did as instructed. Within the next couple of hours, my new kitten, Chewy, became very lethargic and slightly disoriented. She also almost completely stopped using her litter box and would simply go where she was laying. I decided to look up some side effects of the medicine as I’m aware they are fairly potent. She seemed to have caught some of the side effects so I thought nothing of it. She went in and out of this state several times for the next day or so, which didn’t seem alarming to me. Two days after her treatment was given, in the morning, she has used the litter box and there was a notable amount of diarrhea. I cleaned her off and headed to work, planning to call VCA when they opened and have her seen. Not even a half an hour later, Chewy took her last breaths, and left us. We were shocked and heartbroken. It made no sense to us. I decided to look more into the revolution flea and tick treatment. I had learned that the lowest does was to be given to kittens with a minimum weight requirement of 2 pounds 5 ounces (over a pound more then Chewy weighed!) and at the earliest age of 8 weeks! Now a pound may not seem like a big deal maybe in a developed cat, but with a kitten with a developing immune system, this can be deadly. Unfortunately it was. I will say, when I called VCA, they were very responsive. (Offered to refund me for the care plan I had signed up for.) Until, I received a call from the director. Who was simply there to save face and throw random facts about the medicine in my face that didn’t seem to add up. He even requested that I bring Chewy in for a Necropsy so they can get to the bottom of it. I refused, knowing the place that had carelessly taken the life of my healthy kitten would probably place blame elsewhere to take the blame off of their shoulders. Shame on you VCA Animal Hospital for being so careless with our little Chewy. I hope anyone reading this reconsiders doing business with such an unprofessional and irresponsible staff. If this was a human child the doctor in question would be held far more accountable then a simple sorry, it wasn’t our fault, here’s your money back. Rest in peace, Chewy. We didn’t get to enjoy you for long, but we’ll love you forever 💕
