Took my dog here at the recommendation of a friend for a second opinion regarding a simple skin issue. Had a very poor experience. I have an anxious 70lb rescue dog (pitbull/Amstaff) that typically needs sedation (trazodone and gabapentin) to tolerate the vet. The wait to get into the room was long. Vet tech was rude and unfriendly. I saw Dr. Rebecca Mastroieni DVM. She was cold, dismissive, and insisted on muzzling my dog (which made him even more stressed) even though he has no history of aggression or nipping. She could not diagnose the skin issue or even give me an idea of what she thought it was. She did a woods lamp test and told me it’s most likely not fungal. She charged me $150 for a cone and prednisone. She told me to see a dog dermatologist and that he may need a biopsy. Perhaps, there are better vets here, but I would not recommend Dr. Mastroieni. Update: I went to All Creatures Great and Small Animal Hospital and Urgent Care in Denville, NJ for a third opinion and had the BEST experience. They took me right into an empty exam room so I could finish filling out the paperwork and keep my dog calm. Dr. Silas Ashmore was kind, friendly, and extremely intelligent. He did a skin scraping, tested it on site, and knew exactly what the issue was within 20 min. Turns out he needed an oral antibiotic, a topical antibiotic, and some CHG/ketoconazole wipes. So happy with the care here!!! They did not need to muzzle him (didn’t even suggest it!) or give him medication. He was so calm and peaceful. He did not even flinch or pull away during the skin scraping. Dogs truly read energy and the energy at this place was so overwhelmingly positive. Claudia, the vet tech, was lovely and she treated my dog with such kindness and gentleness. I give this place the highest possible recommendation. Wonderful office staff as well. Super compassionate.

Highly recommend Valley Animal Hospital. Have been going there for about five years since I had my first puppy. Dr. Thompson is our main vet and she is always nothing short of phenomenal, always makes us feel welcome, and is receptive to our needs. Dr. Henderson is a fantastic vet and surgeon who supported us while my pup required surgery for a tumor. The staff is always efficient and friendly. The price is reasonable as they are comprehensive with everything they do. Overall, a great experience. I am happy to bring my new puppy there to receive care.

The husband and I just moved to the area and needed to find a new veterinarian for our cat, Pepper. After asking for recommendations and doing research, we made an appointment at Valley Animal Hospital. The hospital itself is large, very clean, and has a nice view of a garden in the waiting area. We checked in with the front desk, whom were very nice and welcoming. The wait was not long. We meet with Marina, the vet assistant, and we went over Peppers’ medical history. Soon we meet with Dr. Thompson, she checked his vitals and gave him his vaccines. Pepper is usually a chill and playful cat, but at vet visits he turns a 180 and starts hissing. Marina and Dr. Thompson handled him very well, assertively and gently. They answered all our questions and concerns and seemed very genuine. We’re glad to have found a caring team at Valley Animal Hospital.
