I brought my dog here for end of life comfort/care. She had cancer and had an appointment scheduled with her regular vet, but declined over the weekend and was very uncomfortable. I brought her here thinking they could make her comfortable until her appointment with her vet, but it was too late. They had informed me that she was passing and her body was already shutting down. My family and I were understandably devastated. The staff here was so informative and clear, yet so compassionate, patient, gentle, and kind. They recommended euthanasia so that she didn’t have to suffer any longer. They guided us through the process prior to beginning, answered all of our questions without judgment, and went at our pace. Their bereavement room is so calming and homey. It doesn’t feel sterile or cold like an exam room. The living room style setting allowed our sweet dog and us to feel more comfortable and calm during the process. Lola passed away peacefully in our arms after the doctor administered the medication. Before she passed we were able to give her lots of treats that were stocked in the bereavement room including a Hershey kiss… every dog deserves to taste chocolate once in their life. I can’t thank the staff enough for their kindness and empathy during such a traumatic and devastating time. I’m so grateful for the way my family and my dog were treated.

Welcome to UrgentVet

Welcome to UrgentVet, a Pet Hospital located in Beverly, Massachusetts, dedicated to providing immediate and compassionate veterinary care when your beloved pets face urgent health concerns. Understanding that pet emergencies can be stressful and frightening, UrgentVet strives to offer a calm and supportive environment where your animals can receive prompt and expert attention. As an urgent care facility for pets, we bridge the gap between regular veterinary care and emergency rooms, offering timely assistance for situations that require immediate attention but may not be life-threatening emergencies.

The environment at UrgentVet is designed with both the pet and the owner in mind, aiming to create a comforting and reassuring space during stressful times. One particularly moving review highlights the thoughtful design of their bereavement room. Described as "calming and homey" with a "living room style setting," this space stands in stark contrast to the sterile atmosphere often found in exam rooms. This intentional design allowed a pet owner and their family to spend precious final moments with their dog in a more relaxed and peaceful setting, underscoring UrgentVet's commitment to compassionate end-of-life care.

The services offered at UrgentVet cater to a range of urgent pet health needs. While not a replacement for routine veterinary care, UrgentVet is equipped to handle situations that require immediate attention, such as sudden illness, minor injuries, and end-of-life care. In the case of a beloved dog with cancer whose condition rapidly declined over a weekend, UrgentVet provided immediate assessment and guidance. When it became clear that the dog was passing, the staff compassionately recommended euthanasia to prevent further suffering. This demonstrates their ability to make difficult decisions with empathy and prioritize the pet's comfort and well-being.

A key feature of UrgentVet is the exceptional quality of its staff. Multiple reviewers commend the team for their professionalism, clarity, compassion, and kindness. The staff is described as "informative and clear" while also being "compassionate, patient, gentle, and kind," particularly during the sensitive process of end-of-life care. They took the time to explain the euthanasia procedure thoroughly, answered all questions without judgment, and proceeded at the family's pace, ensuring a supportive and understanding experience during a traumatic time. The willingness of the staff to go the extra mile, even offering treats stocked in the bereavement room, illustrates their dedication to providing comfort to both the pet and the grieving family.

Another positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the friendly and informative interaction with the staff during initial visits for less critical issues. Emily and Dr. Yang are specifically mentioned for being "very friendly" and providing clear explanations regarding the pet's needs and payment options. The welcoming atmosphere is further enhanced by small touches like offering free coffee and water, as well as snacks. The clinic's cleanliness and quiet environment also contribute to a positive experience for both pets and owners, minimizing stress and promoting a sense of calm.

While specific promotional offers are not mentioned in the provided reviews, the positive experiences shared by customers serve as a strong testament to the value and quality of care provided at UrgentVet. Their focus on immediate attention, compassionate care, and a comfortable environment for pets in urgent situations speaks volumes about their commitment to the well-being of the local pet community. For residents of Beverly, MA, and surrounding areas, knowing that UrgentVet is available for those times when your regular vet may not be accessible or when your pet's condition requires prompt attention offers significant peace of mind.

Dr. Nick and Emily were top notch, 5 star, the BEST! … We brought our dog senior there for a pain issue. They were very knowledgeable, calm, caring, and answered all of our questions. They sent us home with everything we need to keep her comfortable. And we will take her back when her time comes. I wish we could have them as her primary vet!… and the place was clean as a whistle with a calm atmosphere… do not ever hesitate to bring your furry family member there. You won’t regret it. PS. The bill was extremely manageable and did not break the bank… We have nothing but love for urgent vet.

It's nice to have the option of a pet urgent care in Beverly. When my vet couldn't fit my very sick cat in same day, I chose to bring her to urgent care. Making the appointment online was easy, the easy check in. Waiting room clean and bright, with drinks provided. The tech and Dr working have all the equipment to run tests. Price was to be expected, they go over with an estimate before anything is done. in the end my kitty was very sick and we chose to do end of life care with urgent care. I have to say I was very impressed with the room. No examination room, this had couches, a dog bed on the floor. Jar of Hershey kisses. Give them that chocolate. For the cats they had chicken baby food, cheese wiz and a can of cat food if you chose to use it. I asked if they could provide me with a paw print stamp of my cat and they sure did. If your fur baby isn't feeling up to par and your vet can't get you in same day, don't hesitate to go.

Yesterday Saturday 3/8 my old black lab Anna (,almost 14 years old) was extremely ill and couldn’t stop vomiting. My vet was out of town. A neighbor told me about Urgent Vet on Dodge Street in Beverly and I was so extremely impressed with their services! I was so desperate for help!! I’m a retired nurse and feel I’m well qualified to evaluate medical service and competency!! It could not have been better at this place. What a great alternative to not having to drive all the way to Woburn for people on the North Shore!!! Linda greeted us warmly and took significant time with me to get a thorough detailed history even though they were busy! She was efficient and pleasant and so helpful. Dr. Duffield was fantastic.. knowledgeable, really caring and competent and made sure I understood everything he said from explaining lab values and their indications to post appointment care. My old girl was treated kindly and compassionately. She has pancreatitis but I feel confident she is receiving the best treatment possible. She’s home with me now and eating and drinking in tiny amounts every 3-4 hours and holding it down. Her diagnostic work up and treatment was really comprehensive. They truly care. I could not recommend worth any more sincerity or enthusiasm. If you get Dr. Duffield and Linda you will be doubly blessed. I rate them a #15 on a 10 point scale. Melody Henderson
