Advanced and Diverse Services

As a full-service "Pet Hospital," Twin Oaks Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, with a distinctive specialization that has set them apart in the field of animal rehabilitation and pain management:

  • Integrative Medicine: This is a cornerstone of their practice. Dr. Howard, a graduate of Washington State University Veterinary School and certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) and the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA), combines Western medical diagnostics and treatments with Eastern complementary therapies.
  • Veterinary Acupuncture: This highly praised service is highlighted by multiple client testimonials. It involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate healing and pain relief. It has been instrumental in helping paralyzed pets regain mobility, as seen with the dachshunds who learned to walk again.
  • Animal Chiropractic: Another key specialized service, chiropractic care focuses on restoring proper alignment and function to the spine and other joints, which is crucial for pain relief and improved mobility, particularly for conditions like ruptured discs.
  • General Wellness and Preventive Care: Routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control, and nutritional counseling for dogs and cats, ensuring overall health and disease prevention.
  • Diagnostic Services: Essential for accurate diagnosis, including in-house laboratory testing and imaging capabilities to assess conditions.
  • Pain Management: Comprehensive strategies to alleviate acute and chronic pain, often integrating their specialized acupuncture and chiropractic treatments with traditional pharmaceuticals.
  • Geriatric Pet Care: Tailored care plans for older pets, focusing on managing age-related conditions and improving quality of life, as demonstrated by the 16-year-old dachshund still thriving.

The success stories, particularly involving paralyzed dachshunds, demonstrate the clinic's commitment to exploring all viable options for their patients, even when traditional approaches might offer limited hope.

Distinguishing Features and Unparalleled Success Stories

Twin Oaks Veterinary Hospital's most compelling features are unequivocally demonstrated through the extraordinary recovery stories shared by their clients:

  • Remarkable Success with Paralysis: The testimonies about dachshunds regaining the ability to walk after being paralyzed are truly exceptional. One client recounts how their dachshund, paralyzed 12 years ago, was able to walk again thanks to Dr. Howard's acupuncture treatments and is "still alive today at 16." Another describes their dachshund/chihuahua mix, Woody, in "howling, peeing pain" and unable to use his hind legs due to a ruptured disc, who, after just a few treatments, was pain-free and walking normally, maintaining "full functionality" with ongoing care. These are not merely improvements but profound transformations in quality of life.
  • Expertise in Complementary Therapies: Dr. Howard's dual certification in veterinary acupuncture and animal chiropractic is a rare and highly valuable specialization. This expertise allows the clinic to offer effective, non-invasive treatment options for conditions that might otherwise require complex surgeries or lead to euthanasia.
  • Long-Term Patient Relationships: The continuity of care, with clients returning for years for ongoing treatments (e.g., every 5-6 weeks for chiropractic and acupuncture), speaks to the sustained trust and the long-lasting benefits their pets experience. This highlights the clinic's ability to build deep, enduring relationships with both pets and their owners.
  • Compassionate and Supportive Staff: Clients consistently praise "Dr. Howard and the staff" for being "wonderful" and "so good with the animals." This empathetic approach is crucial, especially when dealing with pets in severe pain or with long-term conditions, ensuring that owners feel supported and understood.
  • Investment in Pet Quality of Life: While the treatments might be "a bit expensive," clients deem them "well worth the drive" and emphasize that they "don't like the option of not having our Woody." This underscores the immense value placed on the pet's quality of life, which the clinic demonstrably improves.
Promotional Information and Community Value

For local users in Salem, Oregon, and surrounding areas, Twin Oaks Veterinary Hospital offers a beacon of hope, particularly for pets suffering from chronic pain, mobility issues, or conditions that haven't responded to traditional treatments. While specific promotional offers aren't detailed, their most powerful promotion comes from their proven track record and word-of-mouth referrals. Effective promotional strategies would likely include:

  • Highlighting Success Stories: Showcasing the compelling testimonials and case studies of pets who have regained mobility or found pain relief through their integrative therapies would be incredibly impactful.
  • Educational Seminars: Offering workshops or informational sessions on the benefits of veterinary acupuncture and chiropractic care for various conditions, informing pet owners about these lesser-known but highly effective treatments.
  • Focus on Specialized Expertise: Emphasizing Dr. Howard's unique certifications and extensive experience in both Western and complementary medicine to attract clients seeking advanced and holistic care.
  • Testimonial Campaigns: Actively collecting and sharing more detailed client stories, perhaps with before-and-after videos or photos, to illustrate the dramatic improvements in their patients.
  • Community Partnerships: Collaborating with local pet groups, rescue organizations, or breed-specific clubs (especially those prone to spinal issues like dachshunds) to raise awareness of their specialized services.

Our little dachshund/chihuahua guy, Woody, experienced a ruptured disc 4 years ago. Not only was he in howling, peeing pain, he could not use his hind legs. The first visit to Dr Howard for acupuncture really relieved his pain and with few more treatments he was not in pain and could walk normally. Since then, for about 4 years, we have taken him in for a chiropractic and acupuncture treatment about every 5 - 6 weeks. Dr. Howard is really good at this and so good with the animals. Woody has full functionality thanks to him and these treatments. They are a bit expensive but we don't like the option of not having our Woody. Highly recommended!!

Great care!. I have a 13.5 year old Greyhound who I thought would have to be put down because of back and hip issues. Decided to give chiropractic and acupuncture a try. This regimen is giving our better quality of life. I highly recommend Twin Oaks.
