Dr. Hannah and her team are the absolute best! I have three dogs, two of which are super-seniors (13 and 15) and one of which is a puppy (15 months), all with crazy different needs. She approaches each dogs’ needs with individual care and consciousness and works with me to develop a care plan that aligns with my health goals for them, while meeting me with her vast knowledge of traditional veterinary methods and Chinese medicine techniques. My pets always end up feeling comfortable while there, and it doesn’t hurt that their facility is brand new, spacious, beautiful, bright, and inviting. The staff is very friendly and works to make sure the animals and humans are happy and get what we need. Her and her staff often go above and beyond. Highly recommend!!

Welcome to The Veterinary Wellness Center

The Veterinary Wellness Center, located at 2 Continental Dr, Exeter, NH 03833, USA, functions as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing holistic and traditional veterinary care. Pet owners can contact them at (603) 519-4160 or via mobile at +1 603-519-4160. This center distinguishes itself by offering an integrative approach to animal health, combining modern veterinary methods with complementary therapies, such as Chinese medicine techniques. Their mission is to cater to the diverse and individual needs of pets across all life stages, from energetic puppies to super-senior companions.

As a pet hospital, The Veterinary Wellness Center aims to offer a broad spectrum of services for maintaining pet health, diagnosing illnesses, and providing effective treatments. They are positioned as a resource for local pet owners seeking a balance of conventional and alternative therapies for their animals, prioritizing a collaborative approach to pet well-being.

Environment: Modern, Inviting, and Varied Client Experiences

The physical environment of The Veterinary Wellness Center is consistently praised by clients. One review describes the facility as "brand new, spacious, beautiful, bright, and inviting." This suggests a contemporary and aesthetically pleasing clinic designed to make pets and their owners feel comfortable and at ease. A bright and spacious environment can help reduce anxiety in animals, creating a more positive experience during veterinary visits. The modern design likely includes well-equipped examination rooms, comfortable waiting areas, and potentially dedicated spaces for specialized treatments.

The interpersonal environment, however, presents a more mixed picture, reflecting contrasting client experiences. Positive feedback highlights that "The staff is very friendly and works to make sure the animals and humans are happy and get what we need." This indicates a generally welcoming team that strives to go "above and beyond" to ensure client and pet satisfaction. Pets reportedly "always end up feeling comfortable while there," which is a testament to the staff's gentle approach and the overall calming atmosphere they try to cultivate.

Conversely, a negative review points to significant concerns regarding communication and professionalism, particularly when client feedback is involved. This client experienced being "dismissed as a client" and had their pet "let go simply for trying to ensure my pet's well-being" after raising questions about treatment. This feedback describes an environment where "rudeness" and a "condescending" tone were encountered, leading to feelings of being "unheard and unappreciated." This suggests that while the physical space is inviting, the handling of sensitive client interactions, especially those involving critical feedback, may not always align with the promoted values of compassion and client engagement. The incident of hearing a staff member "talked behind my back (which I heard through the exam room door)" severely undermines the perception of a professional and respectful environment.

Services: Blending Traditional and Chinese Veterinary Medicine

The Veterinary Wellness Center distinguishes itself by integrating traditional veterinary methods with Chinese medicine techniques, offering a comprehensive and holistic approach to pet care. Their services would typically include:

  • Traditional Veterinary Care: This encompasses standard medical examinations, preventative care (vaccinations, parasite control), diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, and general health maintenance for pets of all ages and conditions.
  • Chinese Veterinary Medicine (CVM): This includes modalities such as:
    • Acupuncture: Used for pain management, chronic conditions, neurological issues, and to improve overall well-being.
    • Herbal Medicine: Prescription of herbal formulas to support various body systems and address specific health concerns.
    • Food Therapy: Dietary recommendations based on CVM principles to support health and treat imbalances.
  • Personalized Care Plans: Dr. Hannah is specifically noted for approaching "each dogs’ needs with individual care and consciousness and works with me to develop a care plan that aligns with my health goals for them." This highlights a strong emphasis on tailored treatment strategies.
  • Care for All Life Stages: They cater to a wide range of pets, from "super-seniors (13 and 15)" with complex, age-related needs to puppies (15 months) requiring foundational care, demonstrating versatility in their services.
  • Diagnostics: While not explicitly detailed, as a pet hospital, they would offer necessary diagnostic services such as blood tests, urinalysis, fecal exams, and potentially imaging (X-rays, ultrasound) to support accurate diagnoses, whether for traditional or integrative treatment plans.
  • Wellness and Preventative Programs: Designed to proactively manage health, identify potential issues early, and promote longevity.

The clinic's ability to cater to "crazy different needs" across multiple dogs with varying ages speaks to the breadth and adaptability of their service offerings.

Features: Integrative Approach, Expert Staff, and Modern Facility

The Veterinary Wellness Center boasts several distinctive features:

  • Integrative Medical Approach: This is arguably their most prominent feature, combining the best of traditional Western veterinary medicine with the wisdom of Chinese medicine. This offers pet owners more diverse treatment options, particularly for chronic conditions or when conventional methods have limitations.
  • Highly Esteemed Veterinarians: Dr. Hannah is specifically praised for her "vast knowledge of traditional veterinary methods and Chinese medicine techniques," indicating a high level of expertise in both fields. This dual expertise is a significant draw for pet owners seeking comprehensive solutions.
  • Brand New, Modern Facility: The physical environment, described as "spacious, beautiful, bright, and inviting," provides a comfortable and conducive setting for pet care, enhancing the overall client experience.
  • Client-Centric and Pet-Comfort Focused Staff: Positive reviews emphasize that staff are "very friendly" and work to ensure "animals and humans are happy." The effort to make pets feel "comfortable" is a testament to their compassionate handling.
  • Personalized Care Planning: The clinic's commitment to developing individualized care plans in alignment with pet owners' health goals and pets' specific needs is a strong feature, offering a more collaborative and tailored approach to healthcare.

A critical feature that, according to one review, needs attention is their approach to client feedback. The negative experience suggests a lack of a clear process for handling concerns, leading to client dismissal rather than constructive dialogue. This highlights a need for robust client communication protocols, especially when sensitive topics or disagreements about care arise.

Promotional Information: High Praise Meets Cautionary Tales

The promotional efforts of The Veterinary Wellness Center are significantly shaped by its positive client testimonials and unique integrative approach.

  • Strong Endorsements: The most compelling promotional aspect comes from clients who "Highly recommend!!" the center, calling Dr. Hannah and her team "the absolute best!" Such enthusiastic endorsements, especially for handling pets with "crazy different needs" and providing comprehensive care across life stages, serve as powerful word-of-mouth marketing. The specific mention of successful allergy treatment and comfort for pets further reinforces their capability.
  • Unique Selling Proposition: Their blend of "traditional veterinary methods and Chinese medicine techniques" is a distinct promotional advantage, attracting a niche but growing segment of pet owners interested in holistic and alternative therapies. This sets them apart from conventional pet hospitals.
  • Modern Facility: The description of their "brand new, spacious, beautiful, bright, and inviting" facility is a visual and environmental draw, often highlighted in their promotional materials to convey professionalism and comfort.

However, the promotional narrative is complicated by the significant negative feedback regarding client interaction when concerns are raised. While the client admits to having "no issues until they determined they didn't want to do business with me," the story of being "let go simply for trying to ensure my pet's well-being" and experiencing "rude, condescending" behavior, including "talked behind my back," presents a serious promotional challenge. This cautionary tale, despite the client's prior positive experiences and acknowledgment of "good reviews," can deter potential clients who prioritize transparent communication and mutual respect. The warning to "be careful when questioning treatments" suggests a potential disconnect between their promoted "holistic view to the well-being of pets" and their actual client management practices in difficult situations.

Therefore, while the Veterinary Wellness Center can promote its excellent medical expertise, integrative approach, and beautiful facility, it must also be mindful of the impact of client service consistency. Effective promotion would require not only showcasing positive outcomes and unique services but also demonstrating a commitment to open communication, professionalism, and compassion in all interactions, even when feedback is critical. Addressing and improving client relations for difficult conversations would solidify their reputation and ensure that all experiences align with their stated values of holistic well-being for pets and their owners.

I want to start by saying that I do not usually believe in leaving negative reviews, and I am a very understanding person. I had recently moved my pets to the Veterinary Wellness Center and really had a great experience with the people I had interacted. After expressing some concerns about the treatment my pet was receiving after multiple visits, I was shocked to be told (when I called them to ask a follow-up question) that they could no longer see my pet, and that the vet was not a fit for me, and that it was because of my comments questioning care. I understand that feedback can be difficult, but I was hoping for a conversation to address my worries, not to be dismissed as a client. The only interaction that I had concerns with was my most recent interaction I had with Dr. Masuma, where she was extremely rude, condescending, asked me why I was giving my cat a medication which was prescribed by THEIR practice, and even talked behind my back (which I heard through the exam room door). It's incredibly disappointing to be let go simply for trying to ensure my pet's well-being. Unfortunately, this experience has left me feeling unheard and unappreciated as a pet owner, and with no choice to move my business elsewhere. Especially since they would not have a conversation with me, after I asked what specific conversations they were referring to and specifically what I said that made them feel that way. I would have hoped for more professionalism and compassion, especially when discussing something as important as the care of my pet, and especially from a place that promotes the holistic view to the well-being of pets. I am not shocked they have good reviews, as I really had no issues until they determined they didn't want to do business with me. I just caution others to be careful when questioning treatments.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Wells and her entire staff for the care they provided to our senior dog, Harley. With every interaction we had, every single individual at VWC always went above and beyond to exude kindness and warmth. They are so knowledgable and truly care about every animal (and their families) who come through their doors. And, for the first time in his life, our dog began to love going to the vets. I only wish we found this office sooner.

The type of care and kindness that comes from Dr Wells and her staff is over the moon. As much as Dr. Wells cares about her animals she cares for the wellbeing of her staff as well. Especially in a high burnout job. It is not own by a big corporation, but by a family. Dr. Wells has helped and guided me and my animals for years and am entirely grateful for the outstanding care they have always received!

First visit and I love it here already! My dog has had mystery symptoms that have otherwise been treated ineffectively, and it was so refreshing to have a real conversation about health and solutions. I’m used to push back when I want anything other than standard western medicine, and having other options is incredible. I would highly recommend bringing your furry friend here!
