Very compassionate staff. We took our pup here all the way from Rochester after being informed of the quality of care offered. The vet tech Meg and veterinarian, Dr. Herr were great handling my dog who can get anxious and reactive at the vet. Dr. Herr took time to explain his concerns and did a very thorough examination. These people clearly care about animals.

Welcome to Suburban South Veterinary Hospital

Suburban South Veterinary Hospital, located at 1230 French Rd, Depew, NY 14043, USA, serves the local community as a Pet Hospital offering veterinary care for animal companions. You can contact them at (716) 668-0503 or +1 716-668-0503 for inquiries about their services or to schedule appointments. As a Pet Hospital, they aim to provide medical care and support for the health and well-being of pets in the Depew and surrounding areas.

Information regarding the specific environment of Suburban South Veterinary Hospital is limited in the provided text. However, one reviewer who traveled from Rochester mentioned being informed of the "quality of care offered," suggesting that the hospital may have a reputation for providing a certain standard of veterinary service. This could imply a clean and well-equipped facility designed to cater to the medical needs of pets. However, it's important to consider all available feedback when evaluating the overall environment and atmosphere of the clinic.

As a Pet Hospital, Suburban South Veterinary Hospital likely offers a range of services typical of a veterinary practice. These generally include routine wellness examinations and vaccinations to help maintain your pet's health and prevent disease. Diagnostic services, such as laboratory testing and imaging (like X-rays), are usually available to aid in the diagnosis of various medical conditions. The hospital would also likely provide medical treatment for illnesses and injuries, as well as surgical services, which can range from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex operations. Dental care, including teeth cleaning and maintenance advice, is another common service offered by Pet Hospitals to ensure the overall health of pets.

Based on the provided customer reviews, the features and characteristics of Suburban South Veterinary Hospital present a mixed picture. One reviewer specifically highlighted the "very compassionate staff," and commended the vet tech Meg and veterinarian, Dr. Herr, for their excellent handling of an anxious and reactive dog. This suggests that at least some members of the team are skilled in working with pets who have behavioral challenges, taking the time to be patient and understanding. The same reviewer also noted that Dr. Herr took the time to thoroughly explain his concerns and conduct a comprehensive examination, indicating a commitment to thoroughness and clear communication with pet owners.

Another positive sentiment expressed is that "these people clearly care about animals," which suggests a genuine dedication to the well-being of their patients. This is a crucial aspect for any Pet Hospital, as pet owners want to feel confident that their animals are in the hands of individuals who are truly invested in their health and comfort.

However, it is critical to address the very serious negative review provided. This account details a deeply concerning incident involving a 9-month-old puppy, an abuse case from the SPCA who required gentle handling due to his fearfulness. According to the reviewer, while the puppy was generally cooperative, a specific vet tech acted "very aggressive" and "unnecessarily frightened him." The described actions of slamming the puppy's body and snout onto the table allegedly resulted in a severe nosebleed, vomiting blood, and signs of pain and terror in the animal. The reviewer further states that their distress was dismissed by the veterinarian, who reportedly attributed the incident to the dog being clumsy. This review raises significant concerns about the handling practices of at least one staff member and the response of the veterinarian to a potentially traumatic event for the animal.

Given the stark contrast between the positive and negative reviews, it is challenging to present definitive promotional information. The positive feedback could be seen as an indication of the hospital's potential for providing compassionate and thorough care. However, the severity of the allegations in the negative review cannot be ignored and should give potential clients pause for careful consideration. It is essential for pet owners to weigh all available information when making decisions about their pet's healthcare.

For local users in Depew, NY, and surrounding areas considering Suburban South Veterinary Hospital as a potential Pet Hospital for their animals, the available feedback presents a complex picture. While some clients have reported compassionate staff, thorough examinations, and a sense that the team cares about animals, a serious incident of alleged aggressive handling and dismissed concerns has also been reported. Potential clients may want to consider contacting Suburban South Veterinary Hospital directly to inquire about their animal handling protocols, staff training, and how they address concerns raised by pet owners. It would be prudent to seek further information and potentially consider speaking with other pet owners in the community to gather a broader range of experiences before making a decision about entrusting the care of their beloved pets to this facility. The decision of where to take your pet for medical care is a significant one, and it is crucial to feel confident and comfortable with your choice.

We took my 9 month old puppy in today for a really bad eye infection. He’s an abuse case from the spca so he needs to be treated with patience and kindness because he frightens easily. He is always very good at the vet and cooperative with everything they do with him, though the vet tech was very aggressive with him unnecessarily and frightened him so much that he was panicking on the table. Her solution was to slam his body along with his snout onto the table which resulted in a severe nose bleed and him throwing up blood and whining bc he was hurt and terrified. The vet snuffed off my hysteria by saying my dog was clumsy when I saw the whole thing happen. I will NEVER take my baby here after this incident I am appalled by the way these people treat animals.

Updating my review from 1 to 3 stars, they called my husband back this morning after he left 2 messages in 2 days & saw her a cpl hrs ago. Maybe the girl I spoke to on Tues was having a bad day, but it sure was an unpleasant experience. Our sweet 21 yr old baby is starting to have kidney failure, she's home for the weekend, but we will have to say our goodbyes to her very soon & will be going back to Suburban South for that. We are absolutely heartbroken, but so very thankful we got 21 wonderful years with our sweet Midnight! Would not recommend trusting them to take care of your pet when in need. We've been taking our cat there for pretty much her whole life, she's 21! I called yesterday asking if I can bring her in on Fri. because I'm pretty sure she's near the end. The girl I spoke to was rude, not compassionate at all, & not helpful. She said there's no available appts. I said our cat is 21, when we were in last, the Dr told us if anything changes with her health to call & he'll see her right away. She says, well I can't make an appt when there's none available. She then asks if I can just drop her off right then & leave her & they'll get to her when they can. I said I'm not comfortable leaving my 21 yr old cat there for who knows how long, she'd be so scared & confused, I'm not putting her through that. Then she tells me that's the only option either dropping her off then or on Thurs morning. I again said I'm not comfortable doing that & asked for an appt for next wk. Her answer to that was there is nothing available. I hung up the phone in tears. I am so disappointed & heartbroken honestly that the vet we've trusted to take care of our cat for pretty much her whole life is dropping the ball at the end. Now we'll have to take her to an unfamiliar emergency vet. Please save yourself the heartache & choose another vet who you can trust to be there for you when you need them!

Don't bother, there's many other veterinary services, with better doctors and more personable receptionists, very dirty in there, they need to hire a cleaning service
