Dr. Marilyn, Julie, and the rest of the staff are absolutely the best. Our kitten, Terra, had special needs. She was FeLV positive and, early on, the prognosis was very grim. Dr. Marilyn helped us nurse her back to good health and we ultimately were granted 9 wonderful years with her, which was almost unthinkable at the beginning. We will always be thankful and gracious for everything St. Francis did to give our girl a long, happy life.

We have been going to St. Francis for our pets for over 20 years. Dr. Marilyn and her staff, Julie, and Nancy are the best! We have the utmost faith in putting our animals in their care. They are kind and compassionate. I couldn't be more satisfied.

St. Francis provides free avian rehabilitation and I can't thank them enough. I guess I can also say, the city of Saint Clair Shores thanks you too! The bird I brought in today was not far from kids play equipment at one of our city parks. The bird could not fly and he could barely walk. I couldn't bear to see him sit there and die a slow death and suffer in the hot sun. So, thank you Saint Francis for doing what you do! Today makes the third time I've brought this vet office a wild bird with a broken wing. Each and every time I call, without hesitation, this office always tells me to bring them in. It is very important for successful rehabilitation to take a bird in as soon as possible when dealing with a wing fracture. Depending on the type of break, the actual bone involved, the type of bird and the quality of treatment the bird receives, it is possible to fix a broken wing well enough for the bird to be released into the wild. A bird with a suspected broken wing should be handled with great care so as not to make any injury worse. I recommend, if possible, covering the bird with a towel to minimise stress and movement. Wrap the towel around the bird, holding the wings against the body. Many birds feel more comfortable if their feet are supported when possible. I cover the eyes until the bird is nice and calm. Always keep the beak and talons away from your face to avoid injury. Take to the vet as soon as you have the bird contained!
