I took my two cats to get neutered/spayed, and I highly recommend this place! I found it very beneficial to schedule the procedure in the morning. Before the appointment, the staff was always incredibly sweet and patient whenever I had questions—and as a first-time cat owner, I had a lot! They took the time to explain the entire process, which made me feel much more comfortable. While the procedure is a bit pricey, the level of care and aftercare provided makes it well worth it. I also appreciate their follow-up calls to remind me about check-ups. The staff and doctors are knowledgeable, kind, and truly care about the animals. The surgery went smoothly, and they gave me all the information I needed to care for my cats at home. Thank you to the amazing staff and doctors!

Took my two fur babies for an allergy shot. Everyone here is so nice and very conscious about the vet fees. I will definitely come back when there is a need.

x THREATENED TO NOT RELEASE OUR DOGS BODY UNLESS WE REMOVED BAD REVIEWS!!!!!! How the city of South Gate allows this place to remain open to the community is beyond me. The owner herself said it over the phone to us. “We operate in an untrustworthy city with untrustworthy bad people.. the spanish speaking people” We had our little one “Poppy” euthanized 04/02/2025 and had a nightmare experience with front office giving us different quotes over the phone then price gouging in person. One of the nurses named Erica told us she was taking our little one to get weighed. They ended up administering an IV without confirming if we were going to continue our services with them. Also Eva came in and handed us receipts for services DURING the euthanization. During this time nurses came in with other dogs thinking the room was empty. The whole experience left us with more distress than we already had coming in. We are also filing complaints the Better Business Beaureu and the CA veterinary board. The harassment and emotional distress we received from Eva who represents South Gate Dog and Cat hospital is beyond words. Read the other reviews. This review is solely on their communication and service. Recently had an emergency where my German Shepard required a surgery procedure. Paid and processed my claim with my insurance and all that was required was for the hospital to send over my pets medical records for review. It’s been a month and NO ONE can seem to get that taken care of. Multiple unresponsive emails from myself and the insurance — the insurance rep even had me on hold on the phone as we were trying to get in contact with the hospital while they personally called them in order to get communication going — while we were able to talk to someone, even that didn’t move the needle. It seems like they got their $1500+ (which is what I paid) and are now dismissive in actually helping their patients and retain their customers.

My experience at the Dog and Cat Hospital was excellent. My puppy, Geo, came in with parvo, and I can’t thank the staff and the vet enough for taking such great care of him. I’m so happy with their expertise and professionalism. I would absolutely recommend them—10/10! They communicate with you from start to finish, making you feel comfortable and confident about leaving your pet in their care.
