Welcome to Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital

Welcome to Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital, your dedicated partner in providing comprehensive care for your beloved animal companions in Knightdale, North Carolina. As a local pet hospital, Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital aims to be more than just a clinic; it strives to be a welcoming and supportive environment where your pet's health and well-being are the top priorities. Located at 1140 N Smithfield Rd, Knightdale, NC 27545, USA, the hospital is easily accessible to local pet owners seeking quality veterinary services.

Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital understands the deep bond you share with your pets and is committed to providing compassionate and professional care. While navigating pet healthcare can sometimes be challenging, the hospital is dedicated to offering a range of services to address various needs, from routine check-ups to more specialized treatments. You can reach them at (919) 679-0170 or their mobile number +1 919-679-0170 to inquire about appointments or learn more about how they can assist you and your pet.

Based on recent feedback, Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital appears to be undergoing positive changes, particularly concerning its staff. A recent customer review highlighted a significant shift with the introduction of a new office manager and a largely new team of veterinarians. This change has reportedly brought a more friendly and caring approach to the practice. The reviewer noted that previous experiences left them feeling that the staff was primarily focused on the financial aspect rather than genuinely engaging with the animals. However, their recent visit indicated a positive transformation, with the new team being described as "so friendly and so nice," taking the time to interact positively with the pet.

This positive feedback suggests a renewed focus on creating a welcoming and comforting environment for both pets and their owners. A friendly and attentive staff can significantly enhance the overall experience of visiting a pet hospital, fostering trust and ensuring that your pet feels more at ease during examinations and treatments. This emphasis on a caring and communicative approach is a significant feature that local pet owners often value highly.

However, it's important to acknowledge all feedback to provide a balanced perspective. Another recent review described a highly negative experience with a receptionist. The customer reported feeling rudely and unprofessionally treated during a phone call to schedule a simple check-up appointment. The review detailed an interaction where the receptionist was allegedly aggressive, dismissive of the customer's explanation for their voice sounding different due to grief, and ultimately hung up on them. This feedback raises concerns about customer service and the initial point of contact with the hospital.

It is crucial for Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital to address such concerns to ensure a positive experience for all pet owners. While the positive review indicates improvements in the veterinary staff's demeanor, the negative review highlights the importance of consistent professionalism and empathy across all interactions, including administrative staff. The experience with the receptionist, as described, could understandably deter pet owners from seeking care at the hospital, regardless of the quality of medical services provided.

Moving forward, Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital has an opportunity to build on the positive changes in its veterinary team by ensuring that all staff members, including administrative personnel, are aligned with a patient-centric and compassionate approach. Providing training in customer service, especially in handling sensitive situations, could be beneficial. Addressing the issues raised in the negative review publicly or directly with the customer could also demonstrate a commitment to improvement and customer satisfaction.

For local users in Knightdale, NC, Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital presents a potentially evolving option for pet care. The reported positive changes in the veterinary team suggest a renewed commitment to providing friendly and engaging care for your pets. If you are looking for a pet hospital where the veterinarians take the time to connect with your animal, the recent feedback indicates this might be the case at Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital now. However, it would be prudent for potential clients to be mindful of the customer service aspects and perhaps gauge their own initial interactions when contacting the hospital.

To gain a comprehensive understanding of the current environment and services offered at Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital, local users may consider the following:

  • Contacting the Hospital Directly: Calling (919) 679-0170 or +1 919-679-0170 can provide you with the most up-to-date information about their services, appointment availability, and current staff. You can also inquire about their approach to patient care and any specific concerns you might have.
  • Visiting the Location: If possible, a brief visit to the hospital at 1140 N Smithfield Rd, Knightdale, NC 27545, USA, could give you a firsthand impression of the facility's environment and the staff's interactions.
  • Seeking Recent Reviews: While the provided reviews offer a snapshot in time, looking for more recent feedback on online platforms might provide further insights into the consistency of their services and customer care.

As a pet owner, choosing the right veterinary hospital is a significant decision. It involves considering not only the medical expertise but also the overall experience, including the environment and the way you and your pet are treated. Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital appears to be in a transitional phase, with positive changes in veterinary staff being a notable feature. Local users are encouraged to do their due diligence to determine if it aligns with their specific needs and expectations for their pet's care.

In conclusion, Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital in Knightdale, NC, is a local pet hospital that has recently seen changes in its veterinary team, reportedly leading to a more friendly and pet-focused approach. While a past negative customer service experience highlights the need for consistent professionalism across all staff interactions, the positive feedback regarding the new veterinarians suggests a potential for improved patient care. Local pet owners are advised to contact the hospital directly and consider recent feedback to make an informed decision about their pet's healthcare needs.

February 2nd 2025 2:33pm I just had an extremely disappointing experience with the receptionist at Smithfield Veterinarian. I called to make a simple check-up appointment for my dog, but the staff member I spoke to was shockingly rude and unprofessional. After clearing my throat, she aggressively snapped at me, asking if I had an issue. I calmly explained that I recently lost a dog and that my voice was affected, but instead of listening, she continued to be dismissive and confrontational. When I asked if she had a problem with me, she stuttered and then doubled down on her hostility, making nonsensical statements rather than assisting me. Despite my patience in explaining my situation, she told me I needed to “change the way I sound” and then abruptly hung up on me. This level of insensitivity—especially toward someone grieving the loss of a pet—is absolutely unacceptable. I was simply trying to schedule an appointment for my other dog, and instead, I was met with unnecessary aggression and complete disregard for basic customer service. If this is how they treat pet owners during vulnerable times, I can’t imagine how they handle animals with care. I will be taking my business elsewhere and strongly advise others to do the same. No one deserves to be spoken to that way, especially when dealing with something as emotional as pet care.

We used this hospital since we moved to NC as my son took his three puppies there and believed it was a good hospital. Dr. Freels operated on Itsy Bitsy (3 lbs) and removed a bladder stone. After our move here we brought our Maltese, Sherlock, to Dr Freels who took care of two UTI's. On our last couple of visits Dr. Freels was gone and on two separate visits saw two different Vets. One was pregnant and a few weeks later saw another new Vet. She asked if we wanted a Senior Exam and we said yes. She came and got me and asked me to look at an ex ray. She said it should a cancerous tumor in his prostrate because on examination his rectum felt rough. I asked if she was sure and she said "yes". I asked if there was any "HOPE" and she said "no". She sent his records to NC Veterinary hospital in Raleigh. Great hospital but expensive. Before they examined Sherlock they explained the cost of chemo and radiation. My husband, a Vietnam, Vet put his head in hands as Sherlock is his comfort dog. We left Sherlock there for a scan and when we returned they told us "good news" it is a bladder stone and could be removed. Sherlock had it removed at another hospital and he is doing well. I wrote this because I hope that anyone who gets a bad diagnosis here goes for a second opinion. I wouldn't give them any stars but I had to give one to Post.

My escape artist of a fur baby got out and got into a tussle with an outdoor cat and ended up with a nasty open wound to his chest. After taking him to the emergency vet, Smithfield Rd was excellent in his follow up visit. They have been our regular vet for all of our babies since they were kittens. I’m so grateful for their attention and transparency during the whole process. Theo had to return for several bandage changes over a month and they were so helpful with pricing and being considerate of how costly his weekly visits were. Although a stressful ordeal for both parent and fur baby, they loved on my fur baby like he was their own. I can’t thank them enough for getting him back healthy and being so responsive. I recommend Dr.Polu to anyone who is in need of a good vet. A big thank you to Reggie and the receptionist up front as well for being so kind and loving on my baby during his time at Smithfield. Their office is about 25 mins from where I stay now but they will remain my regular vet.
