Very reasonable prices, for check ups and shots. I got tired of being charged 200 dollars for just walking into the vet I used in the past.

Shawsville Veterinary Hospital Introduce

Welcome to Shawsville Veterinary Hospital, a long-standing and highly regarded Pet Hospital located at 4534 Norrisville Rd in White Hall, Maryland (MD 21161), USA. Serving the local community for decades, Shawsville Veterinary Hospital has established a reputation for providing affordable, compassionate, and thorough veterinary care for a wide range of animal companions. As a key player in the local pet care landscape, they offer essential medical services within a supportive and understanding environment.

While specific details about the clinic's physical environment are not extensively described in the provided reviews, the positive feedback suggests a welcoming and efficient setting. The emphasis on reasonable pricing for routine services like check-ups and shots indicates a commitment to accessibility for pet owners. The fact that a client who had moved to the city for a period chose to return to Shawsville Veterinary Hospital for a second opinion on a complex health issue speaks volumes about the trust and confidence placed in their care. This suggests an environment where pet owners feel heard and valued, and where the focus is on providing practical and effective solutions.

Shawsville Veterinary Hospital offers a range of essential veterinary services expected from a comprehensive Pet Hospital. These include routine wellness examinations and vaccinations ("check ups and shots"), which are fundamental to preventative pet care. The detailed account of a cat with high liver enzymes and high cholesterol highlights the hospital's capacity to handle more complex diagnostic situations and provide treatment recommendations. Dr. Hoffecker's approach in this case involved a thorough assessment, agreement with the initial diagnosis, but a more conservative initial treatment plan using antibiotics and Denmarin to provide immediate support while allowing the owner time to manage the costs of further diagnostics. This demonstrates a commitment to both the pet's health and the owner's financial well-being. The hospital likely offers standard diagnostic procedures, although the focus in the review was on a second opinion and initial treatment. Given the longevity of the practice and the positive testimonials, it is reasonable to assume they provide care for common pet ailments, injuries, and offer guidance on nutrition and preventative measures.

Several key features distinguish Shawsville Veterinary Hospital. The consistently mentioned "reasonable prices" make quality veterinary care more accessible to a wider range of pet owners, a significant advantage highlighted by a customer who was tired of exorbitant fees elsewhere. The exceptional reputation of Dr. Margaret Hoffecker is a major draw. She is described as "down to earth, practical, caring, and affordable," qualities that foster strong relationships with pet owners. The fact that multiple generations of a family have entrusted their pets to her care underscores her long-standing commitment to the community and the consistent quality of her service. Dr. Hoffecker's thoroughness and compassion are evident in her willingness to see a patient the next day for a second opinion and her proactive approach in suggesting a less costly initial treatment plan. Her resourcefulness in informing a client about Care Credit, a financial aid option, further demonstrates her caring nature and commitment to ensuring pets receive the necessary care. The positive sentiment expressed towards her and her team ("wonderful, kind, compassionate, thorough, and caring work") highlights the overall positive experience clients have at Shawsville Veterinary Hospital.

While the provided reviews do not explicitly mention specific promotional offers, the emphasis on "reasonable prices" can be considered a form of ongoing value proposition. Pet Hospitals sometimes offer discounts for multiple pets, senior pet care packages, or seasonal promotions for services like heartworm testing or flea and tick prevention. To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at Shawsville Veterinary Hospital, local users are encouraged to contact them directly at (410) 692-2800 or +1 410-692-2800. Absolutely adore Dr. Margaret Hoffecker. She is down to earth, practical, caring, and affordable. My family has been bringing our pets to her for decades now, but since moving to the city, I’ve been taking my kitty babies to a vet closer to us. When my munchkin cat came back with high liver enzymes and high cholesterol, the first vet I went to wanted to do an ultrasound and a serum bile acid test, which she quoted me at $615 and $180 respectively, and that is just to get a diagnosis, not taking treatment into account at all, and on top of the $400 they charged us just for his vaccines and lab work. We called Margaret for a second opinion and she made sure we were seen the very next day. And while she agreed with the first vet’s assessment, she recommended starting him on a course of antibiotics and Denmarin to see if it might help and to give us some time to save the money we’ll need for his additional testing. She even clued me in about Care Credit, which I had never even heard of, and I was approved for $2500 to help pay for his care. I am so grateful to her and her team for the wonderful, kind, compassionate, thorough, and caring work they do. I can’t possibly thank you all enough! ❤️

I sure hope Dr Margaret lives forever....or at least out lives any pets that I have. I'm a new client and haven't been so happy with a vet since the 1990s... also no fancy facility, nice not to pay for that...

Dr. Hoffacaker has been the vet for all my family pets for as long as I have been alive. I trust her completely. She is compassionate, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. She always takes the cautious approach and gathers all that facts. After that she considers cost and makes things as affordable as she can. 5 stars forever.
