We used to have a good relationship with Schoolcraft veterinary under the management of the original Dr. Sauer, who was comparatively awesome. For nearly 20 years. Now, there are tests upon tests. I was rejected a two month prescription that I requested due to “need for kidney function tests” on a 14 year old dog. I don’t follow to the spend 3k a year on an animal philosophy. The dog is fourteen. Roll the dice and any way your gonna come up with 1-2 years life, maybe 3 if you push it and the last year won’t wont be pretty for us or the animal. We are in the middle of a move across state, and I don’t foresee myself have my time to secure a respectable vet within the next month. They gave me a (laughable) two week prescription of meds, while knowing my situation of moving. Basically a big F U. Thanks! I don’t mind getting tests done occasionally, but the vets take pets straight out of the price range of middle class folks and we are burdened by the fact we can’t just raise a lovely pet and when it’s time to go, it’s time to go. I don’t give a hoot about kidney function in a 14 year old animal and to be denied medicine?! Seems she’s more likely to die from blood pressure complications for coughing the entire night than anything to do with kidneys. So what’s your point exactly? Honestly, their response to my situation made me contemplate whether euthanasia would be a better option at this point, which is something I have never considered before. At last, I should thank them, for servicing my last 20+ years of pets.

Schoolcraft Vet has always provided excellent care for my animals but what really sets them apart is how they handle one of the most difficult days of your life, the loss of a pet. I recently loss my beloved cat, it was one of the hardest days. They were so compassionate and caring toward me. I appreciate everything they do and the care they take for my animals and myself. I came home today to find a handwritten letter from the doctor expressing her sympathy for the loss of my pet. It touched my heart and reassured me even more of how great of an establishment Schoolcraft vet is.

Great & compassionate vet. Called do appointment for our dogs. A little disappointed that they did not have any record of our steady visits before the pandemic but in any case they were quick to set us up as new customers and we will happily be back.
