I was very appreciative that Dr. Taksir was available on Sunday of a holiday weekend to first guide me by phone, then create an appointment within a few hours to see my cat. He was very upfront about costs and options I could pursue and allowed me time to think about it before making decisions. He and staff were kind and he did his best to assess my cat's issue (my cat is not cooperative). The office is a bit outdated but that was insignificant to the speed in which I was given an appointment and service (the other Albany Animal Hospitals open on Sunday had 10 hour waiting periods). I would recommend Dr. Taksir!

While the physical environment of Schenectady Animal Hospital may be described by some as "a bit outdated," as noted in customer feedback, this aspect is consistently overshadowed by the quality and speed of service provided. The focus here is clearly on the veterinary expertise and patient care rather than lavish modern aesthetics. This practical approach allows the hospital to maintain a straightforward, efficient operation, prioritizing the immediate needs of the animals over superficial embellishments. What it may lack in contemporary design, it more than makes up for in its ability to offer prompt appointments and crucial services, especially during times when other facilities might have extensive waiting periods, such as holiday weekends.
Schenectady Animal Hospital offers a broad spectrum of veterinary services designed to address various aspects of pet health. These services include, but are not limited to, accurate diagnosis, medication management, and general wellness treatments. For example, one glowing review highlights how the vet correctly diagnosed and medicated a cat with severe ear issues, which had been misdiagnosed elsewhere. This included thorough ear cleaning and shaving, demonstrating a hands-on approach to resolving specific health problems. Beyond targeted treatments, the hospital also provides routine care, such as nail trims, often as a thoughtful addition to a comprehensive visit, showing a commitment to holistic pet care.
A key feature of Schenectady Animal Hospital is its team, particularly highlighted by the positive feedback regarding **Dr. Taksir**. Dr. Taksir is frequently praised for his upfront and transparent communication regarding costs and treatment options. This transparency is invaluable to pet owners, allowing them time to consider their decisions without feeling rushed or pressured. His kindness and dedication, even with uncooperative patients, are consistently noted, fostering a trusting environment for both pets and their owners. The staff at the hospital also receives commendation for their friendly and supportive demeanor, contributing to a positive overall experience.
Another distinguishing feature that sets Schenectady Animal Hospital apart is its accessibility, even during times when other veterinary facilities might be closed or have excessively long waits. The ability to secure an appointment on a Sunday of a holiday weekend, with guidance provided over the phone prior to the visit, underscores their dedication to emergency and urgent care needs. This promptness is a significant relief for pet owners facing unexpected health issues with their animals.
From a promotional standpoint, the most compelling advertisements for Schenectady Animal Hospital come directly from its satisfied clientele. The recurring themes in customer reviews—such as being "cheaper" while providing "correct diagnosis and medication," and offering "amazing experience"—serve as powerful testimonials. The narrative of a pet owner who switched from another local vet due to misdiagnosis and high costs, only to find effective and affordable care at Schenectady Animal Hospital, speaks volumes about the value and quality of service offered. The emphasis on being "extremely friendly" and even "funny" contributes to a less stressful experience for both pets and their anxious owners. The hospital's ability to provide effective solutions where other facilities have fallen short, combined with a compassionate and straightforward approach, naturally draws new clients seeking reliable veterinary care.
In summary, Schenectady Animal Hospital, while not necessarily boasting the most modern facilities, excels in providing high-quality, compassionate, and affordable veterinary care. Its strengths lie in the expertise and transparency of its veterinarians like Dr. Taksir, the friendly and supportive staff, and a commendable ability to offer timely appointments, even during peak demand. For local pet owners seeking a trustworthy and effective solution for their animal’s health needs, Schenectady Animal Hospital represents a strong and recommended choice within the Pet Hospital category.

Jul 09, 2024 · Kelly CrisfieldI went to another vet in the area for my cat a few weeks ago (ears bloody and full of wax). They wrongly diagnosed him, made me come back the next day because they couldn't control him, and they completely drained my wallet. I went to this vet instead as the other vet did not treat my cat properly and his ears got worse. I had an amazing experience and definitely will not go back to the other vet. This vet was cheaper, correctly diagnosed and medicated my cat, cleaned and shaved his ears, and even cut his nails on the house. Not to mention, the vet was so funny and extremely friendly. I couldn't be happier and will definitely go to him whenever I need a vet for my cats. Thank you Doc!!
May 24, 2024 · Shannen CarrollWe brought our kitty Emily in for a state mandated rabies shot - (yes, she is an indoor cat.) It was our first visit here, and we couldn't have been more impressed. We were warmly greeted by the lovely receptionist, then met Dr. Taksin. He was kind, friendly, very knowledgeable and considerate. He spent a lot of time with us advising the best way to care for our old girl. He is conservative, gentle, old school and concerned about the health of animals. His relaxed demeanor and dry sense of humor was a pleasure to experience. We will recommend him to all of our pets owners, and we will be back.

Sep 07, 2023 · hollyhclarkWould give 0 stars if possible. I just left this office. Very disappointed with the obvious money grabs and lack of listening on the part of this vet. I have a very healthy 13 yeat old mid size dog. I live on a farm and am very informed when it comes to animal care and health. Occasionally I need to see a vet because obviously I am not able to obtain any scripts without Vet. So I brought my healthy dog here because occasionally she plays a little too hard with my younger dog and her back leg gets a little sore. Typically I give her a previcox and the next morning she is perfect again. So I ran out of this and needed to get established closer to my new home. I explained all of this to the vet and he proceeded to try to charge me for nearly $500 for things that my dog did not need in any way.

Nov 13, 2023 · Dee AnneGreat veterinarian. Dr. Taksir is very thorough, takes his time to ensure he has covered everything that you've brought your pet in for. He then tells you why the ailment may have occurred to prevent it from reoccurring. He then treats it and explains how and why while he does, then educates you on how to maintain treatment on your own. Doesn't push any unnecessary treatments or tests, appropriate pricing. 10/10, will be my dog's permanent vet. If you are local go check him out, you won't regret it.
