In the past, I had only ever brought my cat to vets who also cared for dogs. No offense to their species, but they are LOUD! Coming to Riverside was a welcome change for my own anxiety and my Linda’s. It’s a quiet environment from the second you step in the door. Her behavior at her 1st appointment here was worlds apart from past vets. Before, she refused to leave her carrier. Like at all. For years. Every single appointment, vets had to try to do what they could while she hid in her cave. At Riverside, she was immediately comfortable, wanted out and was exploring the room the entire appointment! This was so amazing to me. Dr. Rivera was so kind to me and her, validating of my concerns, and just such a welcome breath of fresh air. I’m so glad we made the switch, and would recommend any other Lansing area cat owners do the same! I didn’t know vet appointments didn’t have to suck until now!

Recognizing that cats can often find visits to traditional veterinary clinics stressful due to the presence of other species, particularly dogs, Riverside Cat Hospital provides a dedicated, cat-only environment. You can reach their caring team at (517) 347-2287 or +1 517-347-2287.
The environment of Riverside Cat Hospital is consistently highlighted in customer reviews as a significant feature. One cat owner described it as a "quiet environment from the second you step in the door," a stark contrast to the often noisy atmosphere of multi-species veterinary clinics. This tranquility is not just beneficial for the owners' anxiety but, more importantly, for the cats themselves. The absence of barking dogs and the focus solely on feline patients contribute to a calmer and less threatening atmosphere, which can profoundly impact a cat's behavior and comfort level during their visit. This dedicated, quiet environment is a key differentiator for Riverside Cat Hospital as a specialized "Pet Hospital" for cats.
The services offered at Riverside Cat Hospital, as a dedicated "Pet Hospital" for felines, likely encompass a comprehensive range of veterinary care tailored to the specific health needs of cats. These typically include:
- General Wellness and Preventative Care for Cats: This includes routine check-ups specifically designed for cats, age-appropriate vaccinations, feline-specific parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites), nutritional counseling tailored to feline dietary needs, and weight management programs designed for cats.
- Feline-Specific Diagnostic Services: Utilizing diagnostic tools and technologies adapted for cats, including in-house laboratory services for feline blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams. Imaging techniques such as digital radiography (X-rays) and ultrasound, specifically geared towards feline anatomy and common conditions, are also likely available.
- Medical Treatment for Feline Diseases: The veterinarians at Riverside Cat Hospital possess expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions common in cats, such as upper respiratory infections, urinary tract issues, kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and gastrointestinal problems. Treatment plans are tailored to the unique physiology and sensitivities of feline patients.
- Feline Surgical Services: Offering surgical procedures commonly performed on cats, including spaying and neutering, as well as addressing other soft tissue surgical needs that may arise in feline patients. The surgical protocols and anesthesia are likely optimized for the safety and comfort of cats.
- Feline Dental Care: Recognizing the prevalence of dental disease in cats, Riverside Cat Hospital likely provides comprehensive dental services, including examinations, professional cleanings with anesthesia, dental X-rays, and necessary extractions, all performed with a focus on feline oral health.
- Behavioral Consultations for Cats: Given that stress and anxiety can significantly impact feline health and well-being, the hospital may offer behavioral consultations or advice tailored to common feline behavioral issues, especially in relation to veterinary visits and overall environmental enrichment.
- Compassionate and Cat-Friendly Handling: A crucial aspect of a cat-only hospital is the staff's understanding of feline behavior and their ability to handle cats in a gentle and low-stress manner, minimizing anxiety and promoting cooperation during examinations and procedures.

Jan 23, 2025 · Maureen RyanRiverside is the place to go for cat parents who want great care at a fair price. Dr Lewis is knowledgeable and honest about the care that our cats need and don’t need. Our cat, Dolly Purrton, was also very happy with her visit and is still working 9 to 5 every day to make the biscuits!
Jan 23, 2025 · MeganI couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my cat! I was nervous about boarding her for the first time as she’s really shy, but the staff was so lovely. They understood my concerns and took them seriously. I’m also so glad they had the option for my cat to get extra play/pet time because I knew it’d help her settle in. Based on her report card, she was calm and happy while there, and I totally believe it based on how at ease she was when I picked her up! I’m thankful she had such a good experience.
