Welcome to Posage Veterinary Behavior Services
Posage Veterinary Behavior Services, located at 22 Greeley St UNIT 7, Merrimack, NH 03054, USA, operates as a specialized facet within the "Pet Hospital" category. Unlike a traditional general veterinary practice that focuses on physical ailments, Posage Veterinary Behavior Services is dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral issues in pets, primarily dogs and likely cats. This specialized focus addresses a critical, yet often underserved, aspect of pet health, aiming to improve the quality of life for animals and strengthen the human-animal bond by resolving challenging behaviors.
The environment at Posage Veterinary Behavior Services is designed to be calming and conducive to behavioral evaluations and therapy. It would differ significantly from a typical bustling veterinary clinic, likely featuring quiet rooms, minimal distractions, and a layout that allows for careful observation of an animal's behavior. The emphasis would be on creating a low-stress environment where pets can feel safe enough to exhibit their natural behaviors, enabling accurate assessment. For consultations, the setting would be comfortable for both pets and their owners, facilitating open and frank discussions about sensitive behavioral challenges. Given the nature of behavioral issues, which often stem from anxiety or fear, the physical space would be structured to minimize triggers and promote a sense of security. The demeanor of the staff, as highlighted in client reviews, is crucial to this environment: described as "kind," "patient," and "the nicest lady ever," indicating a highly empathetic and understanding atmosphere. This compassionate approach is essential for building trust with both the anxious pet and the often-frustrated owner, creating a space where constructive criticism and honest discussions can occur effectively.
The services offered at Posage Veterinary Behavior Services are highly specialized and distinct, focusing entirely on animal behavior. Their core offerings include:
-
Comprehensive Behavioral Consultations: These in-depth sessions involve a detailed history of the pet's behavior, living situation, and medical background. This is crucial for understanding the root causes of behavioral problems.
-
Diagnosis of Behavioral Conditions: Dr. Posage, as a veterinary behaviorist, is uniquely qualified to diagnose complex behavioral disorders, which can have underlying medical components. These conditions can include various forms of anxiety (e.g., separation anxiety, generalized anxiety), phobias (e.g., noise phobia), aggression (e.g., fear aggression, resource guarding), compulsive disorders, and inappropriate elimination.
-
Development of Tailored Treatment Plans: Based on the diagnosis, individualized treatment plans are created. These plans are multi-modal and often include behavior modification techniques (training and environmental management), psychotropic medication when appropriate (prescribed and managed by a veterinarian behaviorist), and sometimes nutritional or other complementary therapies.
-
Behavior Modification Programs: Guiding pet owners through practical strategies to change their pet's behavior, focusing on positive reinforcement and humane training methods. This involves detailed instructions and ongoing support.
-
Follow-up Sessions and Progress Monitoring: Behavioral therapy is an ongoing process, and the service provides follow-up appointments to monitor progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide continued support and encouragement to pet owners. The goal is long-term improvement and management.
-
Addressing a Range of Issues: The service addresses a wide array of behavioral problems, from common issues like excessive jumping and excitement to more severe conditions like aggression towards people or other animals, and debilitating anxiety.
Several features distinguish Posage Veterinary Behavior Services and contribute to its strong positive reputation. The expertise of Dr. Posage as a veterinary behaviorist is a primary feature. This specialization means she possesses both a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and advanced training in animal behavior, allowing her to understand the interplay between medical conditions and behavioral problems, and to prescribe and manage psychotropic medications safely and effectively. This comprehensive understanding sets her apart from traditional dog trainers or non-veterinarian behaviorists. The patient-centered and client-education focused approach is highly praised. Clients note Dr. Posage's "kindness," "patience," and "really good suggestions," highlighting her effective communication and ability to guide owners through challenging situations. The willingness to provide "gentle constructive criticism and frank discussions" is a testament to their honest and effective approach, ensuring that pet owners receive realistic expectations and practical advice. The positive impact on "temperamental" pups and those with "excitement, jumping on people, anxiety" demonstrates the efficacy of their methods. The mention of Crystal, the "NICEST. LADY. EVER," underscores the supportive and welcoming nature of the entire team, making the often-stressful process of addressing behavioral issues more manageable for clients. The success stories of significant improvement in pets, even after disappointment with alternative providers, further highlight the unique value and expertise offered by this specialized service. The critical positive review from a client who tried an "alternative provider" first, and then experienced "great improvements" with Dr. Posage, speaks volumes about the superior quality of care provided.
Promotional information for Posage Veterinary Behavior Services would heavily emphasize their specialized expertise as veterinary behaviorists and the positive outcomes achieved for pets and their owners. They would highlight client testimonials that praise Dr. Posage's diagnostic abilities, patience, and effective treatment plans for complex behavioral issues. The service would promote its ability to provide comprehensive solutions, including medication management when necessary, which distinguishes them from non-veterinary behavioral consultants. They would likely emphasize their commitment to improving the human-animal bond and enhancing the quality of life for pets struggling with behavioral challenges. The message would also likely stress the importance of professional veterinary behavioral intervention for issues that go beyond basic training, especially for anxiety, aggression, or compulsive disorders. While specific, time-sensitive promotions are not detailed, the service's reputation and positive word-of-mouth are significant drivers of new clients, as evidenced by the mention of a waiting list. Their phone numbers, (603) 589-4848 and +1 603-589-4848, are readily available for booking consultations. The promotional strategy would focus on reassuring pet owners that there is hope and effective solutions for behavioral problems, even those that seem intractable, by highlighting their compassionate approach and proven track record of helping "paupers" and "temperamental" animals achieve better behavior and well-being. This specialized focus makes them an invaluable resource for pet owners in Merrimack, NH, and beyond, who are seeking expert guidance for their pet's behavioral health.

Aug 31, 2024 · TheMightyXI bring my dog to Dr Posage as he has some behavior issues (excitement, jumping on people, anxiety). Our experience has been very positive. Dr Posage is very patient and has provided excellent care. She is our second provider as she had a waiting list and we wanted to get our pup started quickly, so we tried another behaviorist while we were waiting for Dr Posage’s availability. We only had a couple of sessions with the alternative provider and were very disappointed. We were lucky that an appointment became available and we were able to come to de Posage. We highly recommend her services as we have seen great improvements with our pup.
Nov 08, 2023 · Caio Rolim de FreitasBrought our dog here and she wasn’t a ton of help. She primarily wanted to medicate and kennel her at all times and when things weren’t working there is no in between assistance just “we will talk at your next visit” she also said our dog was a submissive type but went for me twice once while pregnant. She’s now in a loving home with no kids or other dogs which was the better choice and not on any meds or kenneled. She wasn’t doing well with our baby or other dogs and was always in a panic. Our house was too much. 2 trainers agreed this wasn’t the environment for her but here she wanted her heavily medicated.
Mar 05, 2023 · KimberlyDr. Posage and her staff were such a boon for us when we adopted our anxiety-ridden dog. Her office was inviting, and she was very calm and comforting to our sweet boy. Her advice was extremely helpful and with her help we saw our boy improve greatly. I would highly recommend her services to anyone who's fur-baby is in need of help.
Apr 10, 2017 · Gina ZaneriHer mind was already made up based on paperwork before we even got there to speak with her; she didn't interact with our dog aside from throwing him a treat; and decided we were "not up to the work" that needed to be done to re-train our dog after talking with us for 20 minutes. She didn't offer any real insight into our dog's behavior. We were hoping for insight and re-training ideas and got neither of those. Get yourself a good trainer and forget the behaviorist route unless you're looking for meds. or a suggestion to euthanize your troubled dog.
