We are established with a different vet in a neighboring town, but when our dog needed additional testing that he doesn't have the capability of doing, he recommending calling Portland Vet Clinic. They got him in QUICKLY, for a reasonable price, and then Dr. Bader took a lot of time explaining his findings, treatment options, prognosis, and answering all our questions. Very highly recommend!

Based on glowing customer reviews, this clinic, particularly featuring Dr. Bader, stands out for its ability to accommodate patients quickly, offer services at reasonable prices, provide comprehensive explanations of medical conditions and treatment options, and demonstrate remarkable patience and compassion, especially when dealing with nervous or challenging animal patients and complex medical issues.

One highly positive review comes from a pet owner whose regular veterinarian in a neighboring town recommended Portland Veterinary Clinic for additional testing: "We are established with a different vet in a neighboring town, but when our dog needed additional testing that he doesn't have the capability of doing, he recommending calling Portland Vet Clinic. They got him in QUICKLY, for a reasonable price, and then Dr. Bader took a lot of time explaining his findings, treatment options, prognosis, and answering all our questions. Very highly recommend!" This testimonial highlights several key strengths of the clinic. Their ability to schedule appointments "QUICKLY" is a significant advantage, especially when timely diagnostics are crucial. The mention of a "reasonable price" suggests that their services are accessible and provide good value. Most importantly, the reviewer commends Dr. Bader for taking "a lot of time explaining his findings, treatment options, prognosis, and answering all our questions." This demonstrates a commitment to clear and thorough communication, ensuring that pet owners fully understand their animal's health situation and the proposed course of action. The unequivocal "Very highly recommend!" serves as a strong endorsement from a referring veterinarian's client.

Another deeply appreciative customer shares a transformative experience, highlighting the clinic's patient and proactive approach in contrast to previous negative encounters with other veterinary practices: "I cannot express how happy I am to have been recommended this place. First vet I went to immediately muzzled my dog and got angry when she couldn't/wouldn't stand up for an exam on her rear. This place is so patient with her and doesn't mind her grumbling or barking because she's just nervous, not aggressive. Next vet we went to found out she had severe bilateral hip dysplasia, gave us some pain meds that didn't work and basically said that was it and they didn't expect her to make it through this summer before needing to be put down, she's only 2. So I did research because I couldn't accept that. I found laser therapy and came here. I love how doctor Bader goes through all the options of different pain medications, what they do, how they work. The other vet didn't even mention there was other pain medication we could try. And the laser therapy is working! I notice small improvements after each session, today was her 3rd and she's doing things she hasn't been able to do in months. I literally busted out in tears watching her running around today. I went from thinking she would have to be put down soon to thinking she still has a few years left in her and I am so grateful." This detailed account underscores the exceptional patient care provided at Portland Veterinary Clinic, particularly by Dr. Bader.

The stark contrast with the first veterinarian, who resorted to muzzling and displayed anger towards a nervous dog, highlights the compassionate and understanding approach at Portland Veterinary Clinic. Their patience with a fearful animal, recognizing that grumbling and barking stemmed from nervousness rather than aggression, demonstrates a deep understanding of animal behavior and a commitment to creating a less stressful environment for pets. The experience with the second veterinarian, who offered a bleak prognosis and limited treatment options for severe hip dysplasia in a young dog, further emphasizes the proactive and thorough care provided by Dr. Bader. His willingness to explore various pain medication options and explain their mechanisms, something the previous vet failed to do, showcases his dedication to providing comprehensive and informed treatment. The introduction of laser therapy, a treatment the owner researched independently, and its positive impact on the dog's mobility, speaks to Dr. Bader's openness to and knowledge of advanced therapeutic modalities. The emotional impact on the owner, witnessing their dog's improvement after being told she might not survive, underscores the life-changing difference in care provided by Portland Veterinary Clinic.

Based on these compelling reviews, the environment of Portland Veterinary Clinic is likely one that is welcoming, patient-focused, and equipped to handle various diagnostic and therapeutic needs. The clinic appears to prioritize clear communication, taking the time to explain medical findings and treatment options thoroughly. The staff, particularly Dr. Bader, demonstrates compassion and understanding towards animals, especially those who are nervous or have complex medical conditions. The availability of advanced treatments like laser therapy suggests a commitment to offering a wide range of care options.

The services offered at Portland Veterinary Clinic appear to be comprehensive, including general veterinary care, specialized testing (as referred by another vet), detailed explanations of diagnoses and prognoses, various pain management options, and advanced treatments such as laser therapy. Their ability to accommodate patients quickly suggests efficient scheduling and a responsive approach to patient needs. The positive outcomes for a dog with severe hip dysplasia indicate expertise in managing chronic and debilitating conditions.

The key features of Portland Veterinary Clinic, as highlighted by the customer reviews, include prompt appointment scheduling, reasonable pricing, thorough and clear communication from Dr. Bader, a patient and compassionate approach to nervous animals, a willingness to explore and explain various treatment options (including advanced therapies like laser therapy), and a demonstrated ability to significantly improve the quality of life for pets with complex medical conditions. If i could put zero stars I would. I brought my dog in for surgery, while there I watched a dog get dragged by his collar which was chocking him while asleep. They told they me they would call after my dog was done with surgery, I never received a call. He received fleas from their kennels. I’m not a person who talks bad about people from my home town. This is the worst place to take your dog. Might as well watch a YouTube video to help your animals.

Dr. Bader and staff took excellent care of my older two chiweinies. I'm very grateful! Other vets wanted thousands of dollars, Dr. Bader only charged me couple hundred. My pets were valued by compassion not money.

We were on our way to Portland for Thanksgiving when we were involved in a serious car wreck. Our tiny 15 year old Yorkie mix was in the car with us and my husband and I were injured. Relatives took him to a near by emergency vet (Dayton) who initially cleared him. That night when we were all back together he began showing signs of pain. We called Dr Bader, unfortunately he was out of town, but he moved heaven and earth and arranged to get us pain meds that night. With in an hour our dog was back to normal. He’s still got pain as we all do as we recover but the meds will get him through the drive back to South Carolina where he can be seen by our vet. Sooo much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving and not the least of these, Dr Bader. 💕-All the best, Cammy, Todd, and Dude
