Plaza is the best. My dogs growing up went there. When I got my first dogs as an adult, I was going to change to a different vet closer to where I lived but my dog had an accident at a doggy daycare. The initial vet they took him too amputated part of his tail (was necessary). A follow-up at an emergency vet wanted to amputate his whole tail because the tip was necrotic. I waited to take him to Plaza the next day. Dr. Ast took his time and said if I brought him in every other day for a check and re-wrap, we could try to save the tail. We wrapped it in bubble wrap to keep him from hurting it on anything. It took several weeks but we were able to save his tail! If Dr. Ast hadn’t been so patient and creative with his care, it would have had to go. When that dog passed away of old age the day they were going to come to our house to euthanize him, I called and Victoria helped me through everything and was very compassionate when I brought him in for cremation. Victoria has been an incredible, hilarious, knowledgable support for me and all of the dogs I’ve owned. I live a half hour away from Plaza now and I still make the drive. Recently another of my dogs got diagnosed with a mast cell tumor and Dr. Ast was able to diagnose it within 15 minutes of our appointment. He removed it a week later. My aunt is an oncology vet and used to be the dean of the veterinary school at a very large university out of state… I sent her the post-op laboratory results and she said Dr. Ast couldn’t have done a better job with the surgery and the margins he was able to achieve. I took my dog to a local oncologist this week and she made a point to talk about what wonderful margins he was able to get with a tumor and location that can be complicated to get complete margins on, let alone better than idea margins like he got. She’s been recovering beautifully. I cannot recommend Plaza enough. We have vets in the family and I have seen other vet practices and nothing compares. They’re also reasonably priced. I don’t have one bad thing to say about Plaza in the over 30 years my family has been taking pets there.

According to long-term clients, Plaza Veterinary Hospital is considered "the best." One reviewer recounts multiple instances of exceptional care, including Dr. Ast's patient and creative approach in saving their dog's tail after another vet recommended full amputation. This involved frequent check-ups and a unique bubble wrap solution. The same reviewer also praised Victoria for her incredible support and compassion during their dog's passing and cremation. They continue to drive a half-hour to Plaza due to the consistent high quality of care.

Another testament to Dr. Ast's expertise involves a swift diagnosis of a mast cell tumor in just 15 minutes, followed by a successful removal with excellent surgical margins. Impressively, these results were validated by the client's aunt, an oncology vet and former dean of a veterinary school, and further confirmed by a local oncologist. The client emphasizes the exceptional care and reasonable pricing at Plaza, stating that nothing compares to their experience there.

However, one potential customer reported an initial negative phone interaction with a staff member who was perceived as rude when they tried to book an emergency appointment as a new client. This individual also overheard unprofessional background remarks during a subsequent call. While this seems to be an isolated incident mentioned in the reviews, it's worth noting alongside the overwhelmingly positive experiences.

Overall, Plaza Veterinary Hospital appears to be a highly recommended Pet Hospital in Farmington, MI, known for its experienced veterinarian, Dr. Ast, compassionate staff (particularly Victoria), creative problem-solving, and reasonable prices. Called to try to get my families dog in to see the vet for a possible hematoma in his ear. The lady was so rude and said we had no previous appointments with them so she couldn’t help us. Called back a little later to try to get a first time appointment and if we could be seen. The man on the phone was so kind and you could hear the lady that I had talked to previously in the background being rude and snarky and upset that I had already called earlier. Not very professional on her part, I’m just trying to get my families dog medical help and I don’t appreciate her being rude while I'm still on the phone just inquiring about an appointment.

We have been taking our Boston terrier here since we moved to Farmington five years ago and we are very happy. It’s obvious the doctors and staff care about their patients, front desk staff are friendly and professional, facility is always clean and honestly prices are great too. We will continue to bring our pets here for care and I have already recommended them to friends and neighbors.

We have been taking our dogs and cats (including an unexpected litter of kittens) here for over 20 years. The vets and staff are caring and helpful. Pricing seems reasonable, but I feel no need to cross-shop them. This is the only place to take your pet.

Friends recommended Plaza Veterinary Hospital to us and we are so glad they did! We've been so impressed with them over the past year. Everyone has been incredibly friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable during both sick visits and healthy visits. I also appreciate that the vets have always provided multiple fully-explained treatment options and even advice on budget-friendly strategies to still provide for our dogs' health.
