While staff was nice the practice 1) Charges more than other practices 2) Requires upfront immediate payment for all planned and agreed upon care, even if something isn't happening that day. There doesn't seem to be any payment plan option in place which is odd when ER bills can be quite large. 3)Added 1k+ dollars to an estimate and I had to point out that the numbers don't match. Always double check the math. Everyone has a cellphone and every phone has a calculator. 4) They wanted to charge us premium rate for an ultrasound to be read even though the actual day of the ultrasound/read was normal business hours (M-F day time). They wanted this whole fee without even having an ultrasound scheduled. While I was humming and hawing over what to do my husband did some digging and this place has like a 1.2 rating with the BBB and a lot of complaints. I asked for my dog back, paid, and left. I debated on whether I should leave a review at all but I wanted more people to know that this may not be the best place to take an animal if there is a choice. If you don't have the cash to pay upfront immediately then do not come here. I also want to add that after my dog got back to me she seemed terrified. This is a dog that loves everything and everyone. She loves the vet, the groomer, everyone. She wanted to leave. They supposedly emailed us our dog's X-rays but there's no identifying information so it literally could be X-rays of any dog. They also claimed to have removed something during a rectal exam and took a picture, which I wanted to see so maybe I could identify a possible culprit, but inconveniently the image was lost even though it had only been maybe 1.5-2 hours since the image was (supposedly) taken. Edit: when you Google PETS Emergency Hospital BBB the 1.2 star rating comes up with 92 (currently) reviews and the link goes to a business with this address. If this is not accurate then the business needs to reach out to BBB to rectify the situation. I chose anonymity because in previous negative reviews the reviewer is put on blast with details of their pets condition. I will edit my review that is questioning certain practices based on the information I can find but I will reiterate that the whole business seemed suspicious while I was there and does seem to choose profit up front over helping people. Implementing a payment plan with people would go a long way to sewing good will with the people and pets that are in need. You discuss honesty of the work performed but, again, there's no way to identify these x rays and data that could be used for a diagnosis is being lost in less than a day.

When a vet suggests euthanasia as a viable option rather than treat a sick puppy, instead of offering a payment agreement or negotiating price, I believe they've lost their way and should stop practicing vet medicine. I am absolutely DISGUSTED at the way you treated someone I sent over there for help, and you all should be ASHAMED of yourselves. Here's the oath you took when you became a vet, in case you forgot. The fact you'd rather put a puppy down than treat at a discount or offer a payment arrangement is DERANGED, CRUEL, REPREHENSIBLE, AND UNFORGIVABLE. "Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence." You should be ashamed of yourselves. Vets like you are what give vet medicine a bad name. How do you even sleep at night? In response to the owner, your staff was ready to euthanize a PUPPY because the owner didn't have over a thousand dollars to cough up for you people to begin figure out what was going on with him. Turned out to be worms, and the dog was otherwise healthy. A simple fecal test could have told you that. But instead, you charged $180 to tell someone you needed a thousand dollars more. Cost $98 at a real vet to get this dog treated and feeling better. Compassion Exhaustion I completely understand. Too bad your staff didn't show any. As a matter of fact, they threatened to call the police on the owner somehow insinuating cruelty. How dare you? It took three vets, two weeks, and hundreds of dollars to diagnose worms in a puppy. That's pretty embarrassing for vet medicine in Greeley, you included. This is what happens when clinics sell out to a big corporation. Money becomes the goal, not helping animals. It's just a business model, with the bottom line $$$ being the most important. To anyone reading this, find a locally owned clinic or hospital to take your pets. There, you'll find compassion and competent treatment for your animals. Steer clear of these big money-making machine vets for the sake of your animals wellbeing.

I took my dog to the Pets Emergency Hospital in Greeley CO on March 15,2025. It was a Saturday and my vet was not open. I called ahead and was asked on the phone about all my information. The girl said it would save time when I got there. The receptionist was cold and told me I had to pay $180 upfront before they would even see my dog. And on top of making my son stand in the waiting area holding my sick dog while I paid the $180, they also made me fill out a paper with all the information I had already given them over the phone before my dog was seen by a vet. The vet was nice, but nice is not enough. They took my dog to another area while we waited and waited for information. We finally went out and sat in the front waiting area because it was very cold in the room they put us in. We were finally given medicine and instructions and charged another $590.96 before leaving. I left with a not very good feeling about this place. Even on the medicine my dog continued to get worse. We went to my vet Monday. We were given different medicine and my dog was feeling better by the time we left. I feel I paid $771 for nothing. That is a lot of money for me. I will not be going back to this place, and would not recommend it.

Since i can't reply to you're message. i have to leave it like this Don’t pretend to be sorry — you spoke with him but didn’t solve anything. The only time you showed concern was after I reported you to the BBB, and even then, it felt like you were only worried about your reputation. You claimed you would follow up with the doctor who was on call that day, but he never heard back. What happened was heartbreaking. You charged my dad $6,000, only for him to lose his dog after getting him back from your care. You drained him financially, knowing he didn’t have that kind of money, and left him with no support afterwards. Where’s the compassion in that? I’ve spoken with other veterinarians, and they all said the same thing — this wasn’t about the animal’s well-being; it was about the money. I’ve heard of dogs being cared for over five days at other clinics without the bill ever reaching that amount. The lack of empathy and the outrageous charges speak volumes. You didn’t just take his money — you took everything from him and left him with nothing but a devastating loss. Where’s your "sorry" now? If i could give no stars i would. Not even sure why this business is still in business. I will be writing BBB n the news channels. My dad should not have to pay for a dog he no longer has .. that you said when he asked you what are the chances of him living n u said it was good. They convinced us that our dog needed surgery, claiming there was something inside her stomach making her sick. Two of their techs even claimed to be specialists. But after they cut her open, they found nothing. It took a month for her to heal, and since she was a big dog, it wasn’t easy on her—or on us. We still had to pay the $4,000 bill for their mistake, and they didn’t even care. And now, years later, they’ve done it again—but this time, it’s far worse. I didn’t want my dad to take his dog there, but it was the only emergency vet open in Greeley. Instead of being honest, they saw an easy opportunity to take his money. It cost $185 just for them to see his dog, and before even treating him, they demanded a $1,200 down payment just for X-rays and blood work. They claimed my dad’s small dog had pneumonia and kept him for a day, charging an outrageous $5,500. When my dad got his dog back, he was even worse than before. My dad, exhausted and heartbroken, had no choice but to take him home because they drained him financially. On a fixed income and disability, he simply couldn’t afford to bring his dog back when his condition got worse. And because of that, he had to watch his best friend die in his arms—gasping for air, fluid coming from his nose—desperately trying CPR while crying and begging him to hold on. That little dog was everything to him. He was smart, lovable, and completely devoted to my dad—following him everywhere, waiting by the door when he was gone, even barking "I love you." Now, my dad is left alone, mourning his best friend, and stuck with a nearly $6,000 bill that he’ll struggle to pay. How can you claim to care about animals when all you see is money? How can you sleep at night knowing you take advantage of people in their most desperate moments? No compassion. No heart. Who gives pills to a dog that can’t eat instead of prescribing a liquid? You should be ashamed. How are you even still in business after all these years of taking advantage of people? If I had been able to take my dad’s dog somewhere else that day, he would still be alive. Instead, you left my dad with nothing but heartbreak and debt. I took my sweet girl here two days ago and though she didn't make it, the staff was excellent. Every conversation was informative and compassionate, and when it was time for my sweet girl to go, they walked me through it and let me sit with her for as long as I needed to. The kennel they kept her in overnight was quiet and peaceful, full of blankets to keep her comfortable, and they turned on music and purring sounds to calm her down. I can't thank them enough for their help and thoughtfulness.
