Sep 07, 2024 · Dormarice Perez Diaz2024 - Update My 12-year old cat, Tinker, developed a mass to her abdomen that quickly grew and developed an ulcer/abscess. She had never been to a vet and was my indoor spoiled cat. I called to Pet First who advised me to take her to Urgent Care Vet for immediate care and then call them back with further information and continued care. Urgent care advised that they felt the mass was mammary cancer - they started her on antibiotics and pain meds and sent everything to Pet First. I called Pet First the next morning and they squeezed Tinker into a visit with Dr. Amanda Stoufer. Dr. Stoufer immediately made Tinker a priority and calmed some of my worries - she had literally just met Tinker (and me) yet she treated all of us as if we were long established patients. Her empathy, compassion, and knowledge shined through and she competently created a treatment plan with our overall goal being Tinker’s quality of life and comfort. Dr. Stoufer performed a pretty in-depth surgery on Tinker and was able to remove the ulcerated mass and other mammary tissue, some surrounding lymph nodes and spay her. The surgical incision was beautifully done and even though Tinker came home with two drains and what appeared to be a hundred sutures :-) oh and of course Tinker was a “little” sedated when we picked her up - She was alive and no longer had an open infected mass to her abdomen. Tinker had her drain’s removed 72-hours post-surgery and sutures out 14-days post-surgery. Dr. Stoufer and the veterinarian techs at Pet First called us several times to check in on Tinker and they were always available to answer questions or concerns. I didn’t feel alone or as if Tinker was “just another cat” to the clinic, but rather she has become a part of their community. Even once pathology confirmed her mammary cancer diagnosis Dr. Stoufer again quickly explored treatment options and risks/benefits of each option. I want to thank Dr. Stoufer and the entire team at Pet First - I would and do recommend this animal hospital to anyone with pets. Tinker is doing well at home and I know that no matter her life expectancy with mammary cancer is, how long she lives with this illness, or what complications occur throughout her care Dr. Stoufer will be there to guide us and provide the best possible care for Tinker. *** 2019 -Dr. Chris Banks is the best vet I have ever dealt with, and I have had animals my entire life. He truly cares about your animals and it shows. He takes care of my two dogs, one is an elder cocker spaniel who is very stubborn - and our young pitbull mix who seems to have chronic skin problems. Something I truly appreciate, as a medical professional myself, is Dr. Banks ability to say "sometimes we are not sure but we treat the symptoms the same" -- I understand this mentality and I truly appreciate him. My most recent appointment Dr. Banks and my awesome tech actually got on the floor with Buddy, instead of making him a 52lb dog, get on the table. They got to his level and made him comfortable. Priceless care.
Sep 19, 2024 · Jaime BurnsHonestly this is one of the best veterinary offices we have experienced. The front desk staff is compassionate, timely, and savvy with scheduling. Their team of vets always seem to be professional and truly care for the pet their examining. They’ve always done a great job with educating us, providing after care, and even just general grooming help. So I think this is more of a Thank you than a positive review! Willow and Tom appreciate all that you guys do ✨ Keep up the great work!
Jun 30, 2022 · Sarah SewartI rescued my dog from Pasco animal services. They thought he had heartworm. I brought him to Pet First veterinary hospital in New Port Richey. They diagnosed him as negative, so I had them do another blood test and send it out to verify whether he was positive or negative for heartworm, which I paid for. He also had severe arthritis which was verified at the time of his exam. He was originally on 200 mg twice daily of gabapentin. Pet First put him on a higher milligram to 300 twice daily. I paid for his office visit/exam, both blood test, his prescription of gabapentin and a year supply of flea tick and heartworm prevention. I also paid to have his nails clipped and ears cleaned. I called to get a refill on his gabapentin since he will have arthritis for the rest of his life yet, Pet First felt that I needed to bring him in for another exam 60 days after they examined him. Per First has been very difficult to work with. I called six times this past week before I finally got his prescription called in and then once again they only gave it to me for 15 days with no refills! I’ve never seen such greediness for money in all my life. Why would I bring my dog in again for another exam 60 days later it’s all about the money there. It’s very sad!! The doctor would rather see a dog in pain without his medication and collect their money, very sad!!!!
Oct 23, 2024 · Lee R. KrejciFrom the moment we walked in the door with our two carriers; (not our 1st trip here) we were met with smiles and hellos. Even the cats seem to feel at ease as they both quieted down and stopped fussing. The Dr and Assistant who worked with him were very attentive and the cats put up no fuss at all. Our two babies seem to rather like this place. Mom and Dad are just happy to find someone to take such good care of our babies!
