I’ve used this clinic for years for basic care like vaccines and annual checkups, largely because of the lower cost compared to other local providers - though they don't always have all the vaccines. For routine needs, they did the job. However, after a recent experience, I wouldn’t recommend them for anything beyond the basics. If you can afford to go elsewhere, do so. The front office staff is consistently rude and unhelpful—one receptionist literally rolled her eyes when asked a simple question. I have also had to correct their billing mistakes on more than one occasion. The vet techs don’t always come across as experienced or professional, and while the doctors are friendly, they often seem rushed or dismissive, which becomes very concerning when your pet is dealing with something serious. Following a surgery with a poor (but perhaps not unexpected) outcome, I received no empathy or guidance from the staff. Post-op care was careless: I was given the wrong size cone (which I was charged for), and their collar recommendation didn’t help either. When I picked up my dog after surgery, the bandage had already come off, which should have been a red flag that better protection was needed. Phone calls to discuss recovery concerns were brushed off, and by the time things had clearly gone wrong, the front desk seemed more irritated about scheduling than concerned for my dog’s well-being. Trying to transfer records to a new vet was just as frustrating—they only sent over the invoices and told me I’d have to come in person for the actual notes and test results because they “couldn’t possibly email” them. Ultimately, I took my dog elsewhere for follow-up care and the difference was night and day. The new vet provided appropriate equipment, effective medication, and actual concern for my pet’s comfort and recovery. I regret not making the switch sooner.

Welcome to Pet and Bird Clinic

Welcome to the introduction of Pet and Bird Clinic, a local establishment categorized under Pet Hospitals, dedicated to providing veterinary care and potentially related goods for your beloved animal companions. Located at 403 E Ben White Blvd Ste F, Austin, TX 78704, USA, Pet and Bird Clinic can be reached at phone number (512) 462-0002 or mobile phone +1 512-462-0002. As a platform serving the needs of pet owners, particularly those in the local Singapore area who may be seeking information about international veterinary practices for various reasons (such as travel or understanding global standards), it is crucial to present an objective overview based on available information.

Based on feedback from online reviews, the environment of Pet and Bird Clinic appears to be functional for basic veterinary needs. Some customers have utilized their services for routine care such as vaccinations and annual checkups, citing potentially lower costs compared to other local providers in their area. This suggests that for pet owners prioritizing affordability for standard preventative care, Pet and Bird Clinic might be a consideration. However, it's important to note that one reviewer mentioned that they do not always have all vaccines available, which could be a factor for pet owners with specific vaccination requirements.

In terms of services, the clinic offers basic care like vaccinations and annual checkups, as mentioned by a long-term user. However, the same reviewer strongly advises against using their services for anything beyond these basic procedures. This suggests a potential limitation in the scope or quality of care provided for more complex or serious health issues. It is crucial for pet owners to consider the full spectrum of their pet's potential healthcare needs when choosing a veterinary provider.

Several features of Pet and Bird Clinic, as perceived through customer experiences, warrant careful consideration. A recurring theme in the reviews is the negative experience with the front office staff, described as consistently rude and unhelpful. Instances of a receptionist rolling their eyes at simple questions and multiple billing errors have been reported. This aspect of customer service can significantly impact a pet owner's overall experience, especially during stressful times when their pet is unwell.

Furthermore, concerns have been raised about the experience and professionalism of the vet technicians. While the doctors are described as friendly, a significant point of concern is that they often seem rushed or dismissive. This is particularly worrying when a pet is dealing with a serious health issue, as it can lead to a perception of inadequate attention and care. The importance of a veterinarian taking the time to thoroughly assess and explain a pet's condition cannot be overstated.

The experience following a surgery with a poor outcome, as described by one reviewer, highlights several critical issues. The lack of empathy or guidance from the staff during a difficult time is a significant failing in customer care. Moreover, the post-operative care was described as careless, with the provision of an incorrectly sized cone (for which the customer was charged) and an ineffective collar recommendation. The fact that the pet's bandage had already come off upon pickup after surgery should have indicated a need for better protection and raised concerns about the level of attention to detail.

The reviewer also reported that phone calls regarding recovery concerns were brushed off, and the front desk appeared more focused on scheduling than on the pet's well-being when things took a turn for the worse. This lack of responsiveness and apparent lack of concern for the animal's health is a serious red flag for any pet owner seeking compassionate and comprehensive care.

The difficulties encountered when trying to transfer records to a new veterinarian further illustrate potential administrative hurdles. The clinic reportedly only sent invoices and required an in-person visit to obtain actual notes and test results, citing an inability to email them. This policy can create unnecessary stress and inconvenience for pet owners transitioning to a new care provider, potentially delaying necessary follow-up treatment.

In contrast, the reviewer's experience with a new veterinarian was described as a stark improvement, characterized by appropriate equipment, effective medication, and genuine concern for the pet's comfort and recovery. This comparison underscores the importance of choosing a veterinary clinic that prioritizes not only medical competence but also clear communication, empathetic support, and efficient administrative processes.

Another customer shared a positive experience, stating that the doctor made them feel better about their cat's health during a time when they feared having to put their pet down, describing the doctor as "amazing." This positive feedback suggests that individual experiences can vary, and some pet owners may find the care at Pet and Bird Clinic satisfactory, particularly in specific situations or with certain staff members.

Considering the mixed feedback, it is essential for local users in Singapore, or anyone considering this clinic, to weigh the potential benefits of lower costs for basic care against the reported issues with customer service, technician experience, post-operative care, and administrative processes. While some may have positive experiences, the recurring themes of rudeness, billing errors, rushed consultations, and inadequate support for serious issues are significant concerns that should not be overlooked.

Prospective clients are advised to conduct thorough research and consider their individual pet's needs and their own expectations for veterinary care. If your pet primarily requires routine vaccinations and checkups and cost is a major factor, Pet and Bird Clinic might be an option to explore further. However, if your pet has complex health needs or if you prioritize a clinic with excellent communication, compassionate support, and a high level of professionalism across all staff interactions, it would be prudent to carefully consider the negative feedback and potentially seek alternatives.

It is also recommended to inquire specifically about the clinic's protocols for post-operative care, their communication practices regarding recovery concerns, and their procedures for transferring medical records before entrusting them with your pet's health. Transparency and clear communication are vital aspects of quality veterinary care.

In conclusion, Pet and Bird Clinic offers basic veterinary services and may be perceived as a more affordable option for routine care. However, potential clients should be aware of the reported issues concerning customer service, the experience of some vet technicians, the handling of post-operative care, and administrative processes. While some positive experiences have been shared, the negative feedback highlights areas that may be of significant concern for many pet owners. It is crucial for individuals to make an informed decision based on a comprehensive understanding of these factors and their own priorities for their pet's healthcare.

I called and made an appointment to get my puppy spayed and was surprised I was able to get in the next day. I tried other places around town and they were booked up. I checked my own vets office but it would’ve cost 3 1/2 times the cost as what I paid here. When I took my puppy in for the appointment the next morning, I discovered I contacted the wrong branch and I had made an appointment for the Wells Branch location. However, the South Branch worked us in and I was still able to get my puppy spayed that day. I was very impressed they were so willing to accommodate me. Most places would’ve just said I’m sorry, but you can book a future appointment if you’d like. I opted for the pain injection, which replaces the need to administer pain medication over a couple days following the procedure, that was was a nice option too. My puppy’s surgery went went really well and her incision looks good. She was back to her normal self by the next morning, licking my face to wake me up 🥰 If you need your pet spayed or neutered, I’d highly recommend this place. There was one other really thoughtful feature this office had that I noticed when I picked up my puppy that I have never seen at another vet office. They had a sign and a candle (which was lit) that asked people to please keep voices down when they see the candle lit as someone was there saying goodbye to their pet. I thought that was a great symbol of compassion and respect. Thanks Pet & Bird Clinic!

Had taken my pets here before with no problem. This last time there was an incident that could of have been prevented with a phone call verificacion. Used to recommend them everytime with family and friends but after this I will reconsider.

I'd rate this place NEGATIVE 5 stars. Supervisor on phone laughing and talking with her friends while at front desk. Very unprofessional. I won't ever go there again. I don't recommend this place if you love your pets.
