My husband and I brought our dog into their boarding services. I had a surgery the day we checked him in. However we gave them enough food for 1 and a half days, 1 1/2 cup twice daily. Asking them to feed him the correct amount and payed and asked for grooming and nail trim. When we brought him home he drank for 5 min, and now he is going poop and peeing a lot more than before. His behavior shows that they may have fed him most of the food the night we checked him in, they didn’t do his nails and did a poor job on grooming. I don’t recommend this place for boarding at all.

Based on the limited information available online, particularly the customer reviews, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive description of the clinic's environment and standard services. Typically, a pet hospital environment includes examination rooms for consultations, treatment areas for various medical procedures, surgical suites, and potentially boarding facilities for temporary pet stays. The cleanliness, comfort, and organization of these areas are crucial for both pet comfort and the delivery of effective veterinary care. However, specific details regarding the ambiance, equipment, or facilities of Peoria Area Veterinary Group of Chillicothe are not readily available through general online searches, aside from the address.
In terms of services, the reviews mention specific offerings such as boarding and grooming, in addition to the critical veterinary procedure of euthanasia. Boarding services typically involve providing a safe and supervised environment for pets when their owners are away, including feeding, watering, and basic care. Grooming services usually encompass procedures like bathing, brushing, and hair trimming, often contributing to a pet's hygiene and overall well-being. The mention of euthanasia highlights the clinic's role in end-of-life care for pets, a sensitive procedure requiring both medical expertise and compassionate handling.
Features of a veterinary practice can often include the expertise and qualifications of the veterinary staff, the range of medical equipment available for diagnostics and treatments, and any specialized services offered. Without detailed information about the veterinarians, technicians, or specific medical technologies employed at Peoria Area Veterinary Group of Chillicothe, it is difficult to elaborate on these aspects. The customer reported concerns regarding the feeding of their dog, stating that the provided food seemed to have been given excessively on the first night, leading to digestive issues upon the pet's return home. Furthermore, the review mentions that requested services, specifically nail trimming and grooming, were either not performed or poorly executed. This feedback raises concerns about the attention to detail and quality of care provided during boarding.
Another review expresses significant distress regarding the euthanasia of the customer's mother's cat by a veterinarian at the clinic, identified as "Dr. Dieter." The reviewer recounts a deeply upsetting experience where the procedure was allegedly not performed correctly, causing the cat undue suffering and emotional trauma for the owner. The review strongly suggests a lack of proficiency in administering euthanasia and emphasizes the need for further training for the veterinarian involved. This feedback is particularly serious as it pertains to a procedure that requires utmost care, skill, and compassion.
It is important to approach these reviews with an understanding that they represent individual experiences and may not be fully representative of the overall quality of care at Peoria Area Veterinary Group of Chillicothe. However, these accounts do highlight potential areas of concern that prospective clients may wish to consider. While it is common for businesses to receive mixed reviews, the nature of the criticisms regarding both boarding and a critical medical procedure like euthanasia warrants careful attention.

Apr 06, 2025 · EMy mother just put her cat down with Dr. Dieter. My mother came to my house afterwards hysterically crying because this doctor did not euthanize her cat correctly. When you put an animal down it is the worst experience. My mother is 62 years old and has put many animals down in her lifetime. This experience has never happened to her. This person is obviously newer. I will file a complaint with the office on behalf of my mother. This is not right. And this doctor needs more training if she can’t insert the needle correctly. Having the cat on the table half dying half alive and having to get more medicine because you screwed up is unacceptable. I will go as far as needed to report this doctor. If you take your animals here I highly suggest you ask for a different doctor if she is suggested. Sincerely a very pissed off daughter.
Apr 15, 2025 · amanda dipaoloSo glad they were able to see my dog. She broke her leg this morning & they were the only vet within 50 mi that could see her today. Unfortunately, they couldn't repair the damage but they helped us get her into U of I today & surgery is scheduledfor tomorrow.
Dec 28, 2023 · Donni JohnsonDrs John and Jen and the whole staff at both the Chillicothe and Dunlap locations were absolutely fantastic! I hadn’t worked with them before and when my regular vet said they couldn’t help me when my cat had a bladder blockage, PAVG said, how quick can you get here. My Leo was there 9 days for surgery and I really felt like they genuinely cared about him. Dr John even held up his (Leo’s) paws and told me to give him a last kiss/snuggle before they took him back. I’ve never had a vet do that and recognize that they’re our babies. I’ve already recommended them to my mom and MIL if they ever need vet care for their cats. I can’t thank them enough for the highest quality care I’ve ever experienced at a vet. Thank you!
