***Please Read*** We took our senior cat here upon recommendations and Google reviews. She was 14 years old and sleeping most of the time, lethargic and wobbly on her hind legs. She initially saw Dr. Katz, the Doctor and staff are all very friendly, she had blood work done on Monday January 27th, we were charged nearly $1000 for the visit, blood work and appetite stimulant. (Kind of pricey but we just wanted to help our baby.) We understand that the office is busy but we were told the vet would call with results on Tuesday 1/28, and instead we had to call several times and finally got through to Dr. Johnson. He said our cat had CKD, early stage and was dehydrated and that was leading to weakness in her legs. We brought her back on Wednesday so that we could learn to give her subcutaneous fluids at home 3 times a week. We were so hopeful she'd get better and that's what we expected. By Thursday she was worse, after yet again trying to get through to the vet to get help, we had to call several times and finally got a call back and was told by Dr. Johnson that we could bring her to Guardian and spend several thousands there to be hydrated and treated or we could give her fluids again. So we gave her fluids and kept her hydrated and fed but she continued to get worse. We called Pelham Animal Hospital back on Friday because now her front legs were giving out as well, we wanted to bring her back in, no one ever called us back. We called several animal hospitals (VEG on LI and in White Plains, Animal Specialty Center, North Shore and a few others) no one said they could take her because they did not or would not have a neurologist there until Monday. After calling Guardian in Brewster, they told us the neurologist would be in Saturday morning and we went first thing. The Vet at Guardian told us that it was not Chronic Kidney Disease that was the main issue, her heart rate was low, body temp was low and she most likely had heart disease and a tumor affecting her brain which was likely the reason she couldn't walk. (We asked Dr. Johnson about her heart and blood pressure which was never taken, and when we asked he seemed to think it was all dehydration and kidneys. (We are beyond disappointed that Dr. Katz never followed up with us.) We ended up having to put our beautiful girl to sleep, after a week of stress and sadness and no real help with the fact that she was in a quick and heartbreaking decline. The worst part of this situation was that we didn't take her to her original vet because there were recent horrible reviews about senior pets and we didn't want to take her there to die, so we trusted the recommendations from other pet owners and the positive reviews we read about Dr. Katz. (We even told them that when we went in about why we chose them.) And maybe in the end there was nothing that Dr. Katz or Dr. Johnson could have done to save our baby but we are beyond disappointed in the oversight and the disregard of our concerns and calls. I will take the blame in not going somewhere else, but I didn't know the severity of my Princess Peach's illness and trusted that the vets would be able to help, I was wrong and now she's gone and I am heartbroken. The Doctors and Staff and Guardian Veterinary Specialists were beyond amazing with helping our baby cross the rainbow bridge.

Welcome to Pelham Animal Hospital

Pelham Animal Hospital is located at 74 Lincoln Ave, Pelham, NY 10803, USA. As a pet hospital, it aims to provide veterinary care for your animal companions. The phone number for the hospital is (914) 738-2665, and the mobile phone number is +1 914-738-2665.

Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at Pelham Animal Hospital appear to vary. One pet owner shared a deeply concerning experience regarding the care of their senior cat. This review details a costly initial visit, a diagnosis of early-stage CKD and dehydration, and subsequent treatment with subcutaneous fluids. The reviewer expressed disappointment with the lack of follow-up from one doctor and a perceived misdiagnosis, ultimately leading to the cat's passing after seeking care elsewhere. This customer also mentioned choosing Pelham Animal Hospital based on recommendations and positive reviews, highlighting a prior concern about negative reviews at their original vet for senior pets.

In contrast, another pet owner reported a positive experience with the neutering of their cat, noting that the cat's behavior and appearance were normal shortly after the procedure. This reviewer also mentioned bringing four other pets for routine visits, with all seemingly doing well. They described the staff as courteous, compassionate, and competent, and offered a recommendation for the facility.

Given the conflicting nature of these recent reviews, it is advisable for local users to consider these experiences when choosing a pet hospital. Pelham Animal Hospital offers a range of veterinary services, including routine visits and surgical procedures like neutering. However, the detailed account of the senior cat's care raises concerns about diagnostic accuracy and follow-up communication in at least one instance. Promotional information is not available in the provided data. For specific details about their services, environment, and current practices, it is recommended to contact Pelham Animal Hospital directly.

My cat was neutered here three days ago. When I saw him just four hours after the procedure, his behavior and appearance were the same as before I dropped him off. I also brought 4 other furry friends here for routine visits, and they all seem to approve. The staff is courteous, compassionate and competent. I highly recommend this facility.

I have been going to Pelham Animal Hospital for the past 7 years. I have the utmost trust and respect for Dr.Katz. His knowledge, experience and advice is uncomparable. The compassion, concern and kindness shown to me by him and his team when Lexi and Mylo were ill is something I will always remember. I recently rescued a 2yr old pit Capone and continue to see him for his care. His team continues to go above and beyond. They keep you up to date with the latest and greatest. The clinic is fairly priced and the service is always fantastic!

We can’t say enough about Dr. Katz and his team. They have been taking care of our families pets for over fifteen years, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Our Puggle is a member of our family, and they understand that.

Very expensive , took my 12 yr cat there for a bump under her chin, was told $99 for doc visit . The “first visit” consisted of her being weighed and the doctor quickly checking her, no temp taken nor ear examination. Her bump turned out to a dried scab which he rubbed off and his assistant combed just her back briefly to check for ticks. That’s it , and the bill is $125, the scab removal and brief combing is $25. I take my pets to Vetco and the doctor does a more extensive examination for much less. I would not recommend
