***Update: Our 13 year old cat, Spot is still going strong!!! Thanks, OVC!!! We've just laid our third dog in 20+ years to rest here at this Veterinary clinic...Jersey, Dakota, and now Thunder. Anyone who has been through this understands the pain associated with losing a beloved canine member of the family as well as the importance of working with veterinary staff who are kind and sensitive. OVC goes above and beyond for their human and furry clients at all stages of their lives. We have put our trust in this facility with all of our cats and dogs and will continue to do so as long as we live in Dane County. ***Nobody who loves their pets wants to think about the end of their lives, but all pet owners know that the time comes for all of us. Years ago, when it came time for Jersey and Dakota, my kids were young, and I went by myself. Care, time, and discretion were given by staff for me to say my final farewell to my beloved companions. *****This time around, two of my kids (14 and 23) were home and wanted to come along to say their last goodbyes (our other kid regretfully could not return as she is off at college) to Thunder. They took us to a back room that was big enough for the four of us to say farewell to our old dog. It was complete with sofas and a soft blanket for Thunder, who was having trouble standing. While we had already treated our old boy with bacon, chicken, and a piece of cheeseburger earlier in the day in reluctant anticipation of his final moments...the Vet staff gave us some more Pro-plan treats to give him before the sedation was administered. Obviously this experience was hard on us, it was hard on the kids, and most certainly on our dogs (Skye and Ara didn't know where their buddy went)...but OVC made it as pain-free as possible and I can't say enough about the professionalism, kindness, and understanding that seems so rare these days in other businesses where so much less is hoped for and expected. They are really the best that a family could hope for in terms of the care administered to their pets from puppies and kittens and through all stages of their adult dog and cat lives. *******Goodbye Thunder!!! We love you old man

Jan 31, 2023 · Kent WanneboDr. Orvick saved our dog Archer’s life by performing a splenectomy with a large mass. We will be able to spend more time with him even if it’s for a little while. I’m beyond grateful!
Mar 06, 2025 · Jason WenzelAmazing caring vets and staff. Been more than happy with the care given to our pets and how they worked quickly to get us in to be seen during an emergency. Thank you Dr. Schorr and team!
Dec 13, 2024 · Ryan LeeI do not trust my animals anywhere else. They take their time, do it right, and explain options in simple terms. Most places say what is to be done their way, this place takes time to explain all the options, not just the one they recommend. They are the best in my opinion. 6/15/22 still the best. 7/5/22 saved my little one from the brink of death yet again. Miracle workers, much better than miracle max and we still storm the castle. 8/20/22 little guy is still doing good. They earned my trust.
Nov 16, 2022 · CMDR ConnerI've been taking my ferrets there for 14 years. When I moved out of town, I'd stock up on medication when I was back in the Madison area. I haven't had any issues in 2 year until today when I was told yesterday my medication would be ready. When I got there, it wasn't and I was told they couldn't give it to me. I told them I had just lost one ferret after 9 years but I was still giving medication to another. I had even called a couple of months ago to talk about her condition and was told that there was nothing they could do and to just keep doing what I was doing. Without the medication, she will go into what is essentially a diabetic coma. I told them that they'd kill my ferret by refusing the medication. Instead of being compassionate that I had just lost my beloved furry baby, they started yelling at me and saying that they couldn't keep calling the vet about the medication because I was bothering them with their family. I had driven almost two hours because I was told the day before my medication would be ready. But I'm inconveniencing them?! I felt so unsafe with a woman yelling at me. Why would I bring my pet into a place that made me physically feel unsafe?! This is completely unprofessional, irresponsible, and unacceptable, as well as abusive and neglectful.
