This place is amazing. They gave my pet a new opportunity and much better life quality after dealing with mega colon, which caused him many abdominal obstructions. Thanks to the team, he had his surgery and now he lives so happy, is very active for a 12 years old cat. He even walks every day to chase squirrels. I couldn’t be more grateful in how they treated my beloved pet Billy. Now he thrives!!

Welcome to Oradell Animal Hospital - Paramus

Oradell Animal Hospital - Paramus, situated at 580 Winters Ave in Paramus, New Jersey, operates under the platform category of Pet Hospital, indicating it provides veterinary services and potentially sells related goods. For pet owners in the Paramus area seeking veterinary care, it is essential to gather a comprehensive understanding of the clinic's environment, services, and the experiences of other pet owners. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Oradell Animal Hospital - Paramus based on publicly available customer reviews found online.

Based on the limited information provided, it is challenging to offer a detailed description of the clinic's environment. However, customer reviews can offer some insight into the overall experience. One positive review highlights the hospital's ability to provide life-changing care, specifically mentioning a cat with mega colon who underwent successful surgery, leading to a significant improvement in the pet's quality of life. The reviewer expressed immense gratitude for the team's treatment of their cat, Billy, noting his increased activity levels and happiness post-surgery. This suggests that Oradell Animal Hospital - Paramus has the capability to handle complex medical conditions and perform successful surgical procedures.

In contrast, another detailed review paints a significantly negative picture of the hospital experience. This customer reported an "absolutely terrible experience" involving a prolonged wait for an ultrasound. Despite checking in at 12:30 PM and receiving repeated assurances that their dog would receive an ultrasound before any potential emergency surgery, they allegedly waited over four hours. At 3:45 PM, they were informed that the ultrasound technician had left, leaving them with the sole option of overnight hospitalization and delayed testing until the following day. The reviewer deemed this outcome "completely unacceptable" and decided to seek care elsewhere.

The negative review further detailed the interaction with a supervisor named Amanda, who allegedly showed no sympathy and still expected the customer to pay a substantial bill for overnight stabilization. The explanation provided was that a doctor had gone home sick, leading to a miscommunication regarding the pet's urgency. The reviewer found this explanation unsatisfactory. Additionally, the customer described the overall care as "appalling" and the front office staff as "extremely rude." One specific incident involved a staff member allegedly stating that the customer's frustration was not their problem because they were not the one who checked them in. The reviewer emphasized that they had specifically inquired about the ultrasound and were assured it would be performed. The four-hour wait reportedly increased the risk of their dog needing emergency surgery. Based on this account, there appear to be serious concerns regarding communication, patient care coordination, staff professionalism, and customer service at Oradell Animal Hospital - Paramus.

Given the stark contrast between the two provided reviews, it is difficult to form a definitive overall assessment of Oradell Animal Hospital - Paramus. The positive review indicates the potential for successful treatment and improved pet health outcomes, particularly in complex cases. However, the negative review raises significant concerns about long wait times, communication breakdowns, staff professionalism, and the handling of urgent medical situations. We had an absolutely terrible experience at Oradell Animal Hospital. After checking in at 12:30 PM, we waited over four hours for an ultrasound. We were repeatedly assured that our dog would receive an ultrasound before any potential emergency surgery. However, at 3:45 PM, the staff informed us that the ultrasound technician had already left, leaving us with no options other than to hospitalize our dog overnight and delay testing until the following day—completely unacceptable. Frustrated and concerned for our dog’s health, we decided to drive an hour to another hospital (Eclipse in Whippany), which provided exceptional care. We were in and out within 45 minutes. Amanda, the supervisor at Oradell, showed absolutely no sympathy and still expected us to pay a substantial hospital bill just to stabilize our dog overnight. Her response was, “One of our doctors went home sick, so your pet’s urgency was miscommunicated to our staff.” Really, Amanda? That’s the excuse? The care was appalling, and the front office staff were extremely rude. When I expressed my frustration, one employee even said, “Oh well, I didn’t check you in, so it’s not my problem.” We had specifically asked whether our dog would be seen and given an ultrasound, and we were assured he would be. We checked in at the appropriate time, yet we sat there for four hours, unnecessarily increasing the risk of our dog requiring emergency surgery. Do yourself a favor—DO NOT go to this hospital. Let me know if you’d like any more edits!

I have used Oradell Animal Hospital on and off for years. I again needed their services but because of the most rude staff I have every encountered I tried to avoid it, although I love all the drs there. As usual, the nasty staff did not disappoint. Nothing about them has changed in 30 years and it is apparent that they do not listen to public reviews, because they r notorious for this behavior. The staff needs to be trained in people skills. If I didn’t want my dog to have the best specialty care for his condition, I would NEVER recommend them for this very reason. If you need anything other than a specialist I would skip this practice entirely. For emergency services I highly recommend VEG in Clifton. Update: In response to Oradell, you cannot locate me in your system but I was just in the portal - Hmmm. I also have the same cell phone number for 20 years, but the ineptitude only speaks to my point. However, to prove my point - . I used Dr. Shrope for both my dog and my cat - Excellent, lovely person. Dr. DeSantis is also wonderful The veteranarian who took care of my cat LauraLee Saurteur I believed it is spelled was just great but she left the practice years ago, so I am not a phony disgruntled person. Since you feel compelled to say you cannot find me, I'll share this additonal story about your services. My mom's cat was in your hospital for a drop in his insulin level. The vet left instructions with the staff to not dose him, but they did. Subsequently, he died as a result of the staff giving insulin to a cat who was there for his insulin being too low. So not only is your reception/intake staff horrific, you appear to have problems STILL with your techs, etc. based on what I am reading. I went to Eclipse in Whippany - They have Saturday hours, they did all of my pets cardiac testing in under an hour and will dispense medication via Chewy or my local vet. Although I highly commend your cardiology vets, it is not worth the rest of the hassle to deal with your practice - No appointments other than weekdays before 2pm. Have to get meds from your pharmacy only (if that is still your practice - and your pharmacy staff is also off-putting), and all of the issues dealing with your unfriendly staff. Eclipse was great experience with a staff that is trained in the new philosophy on Health and Wellness - be kind, listen, treat the pet as well as it's owner with civility and respect. You would do well to send your staff for some training instead of employing those nasty, condescending dragon ladies. It is actually stressful and intimidating to have to deal with them, but I gave it a chance for the sake of my pet. I am thankful that the receptionist was so rude. She forced me to find a much more suitable alternative.

I had a really wonderful experience here, and I’m so grateful for all their help. I see the reviews are mixed and I will say it was expensive: but for fast, emergency care, knowledgeable staff, and quality prescriptions, my guinea pig, Crumb, is back to his perfect, healthy self. I called at 6pm on a Sunday night when his runny nose inconveniently emerged. I had called 7 other places already because I live an hour away in NY. I was so relived when i was referred to them, and they were available throughout the night. Crumb is feeling better, he did great taking his medicine, and my other guinea pig never got sick! 🐹 ♥️

Brought my cat in for a skin infection today. Lovely staff from front desk to the emergency care doctors. Everyone seemed well educated and happy to help. Such a lovely location. I hope my Oliver gets better soon but if anything went wrong I’d definitely bring him here. Very affordable care as well, especially for a hospital.
