Located at 525 Main St, Oneonta, NY 13820, USA, Oneonta Veterinary Hospital is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care for your beloved companions. As a trusted pet hospital, they offer a range of services designed to keep your animals healthy and happy. You can reach them at (607) 432-8570 or their mobile number +1 607-432-8570.
Oneonta Veterinary Hospital understands that your pets are more than just animals; they are cherished members of your family. This understanding is reflected in their approach to veterinary medicine, which emphasizes personalized care and attention to each animal's unique needs. While specific details about the hospital's environment are not explicitly available online, the positive testimonials suggest a welcoming and professional atmosphere where pet owners feel confident entrusting their animals' well-being.
Based on available information, Oneonta Veterinary Hospital offers a range of essential veterinary services. While a comprehensive list is not provided, we can infer several key areas of their practice:
General Pet Wellness: This likely includes routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention (such as flea, tick, and heartworm prevention), and nutritional counseling. These services are fundamental to maintaining your pet's overall health and preventing potential health issues.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries, veterinary hospitals typically offer various diagnostic tools. While not explicitly mentioned for Oneonta Veterinary Hospital, these often include laboratory testing (blood work, urine analysis, fecal exams), and imaging techniques such as X-rays. These capabilities are crucial for identifying underlying health problems and developing appropriate treatment plans.
Medical Treatment: When pets become ill or injured, they require medical intervention. Oneonta Veterinary Hospital likely provides treatment for a wide range of medical conditions, which could include administering medications, providing supportive care, and managing chronic diseases.
Surgical Services: Many veterinary hospitals offer surgical procedures, ranging from routine surgeries like spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue or orthopedic surgeries. While the specific surgical capabilities of Oneonta Veterinary Hospital are not detailed in the provided information, it is a common service offered by comprehensive pet hospitals.
Dental Care: Maintaining good dental health is vital for pets' overall well-being. Veterinary dental services typically include teeth cleaning, dental examinations, and treatment of dental diseases. It is reasonable to assume that Oneonta Veterinary Hospital recognizes the importance of dental care and offers related services.
Care for Specific Animal Types: The customer reviews provide valuable insight into the types of animals treated at Oneonta Veterinary Hospital. Notably, Dr. Stafford is highly regarded for their care of dogs. One reviewer explicitly states, "Dr Stafford is the best. I don’t trust anyone else to take care of my babies!" and highlights the willingness to travel a significant distance (from Queens) to receive care, emphasizing the trust and confidence placed in Dr. Stafford and the hospital.
Furthermore, the reviews indicate that Oneonta Veterinary Hospital extends its care beyond just dogs and cats. They are reported to see rabbits, ducks, and chickens. This suggests a broader understanding of animal health needs and a willingness to work with less conventional pets. However, one reviewer, while acknowledging the hospital's understanding and helpfulness compared to a larger institution, raises a valid point about the potential disparities in the level of care and attention given to non-traditional pets compared to dogs. This highlights a common concern among owners of "ornamental/heritage chickens" and other such animals, who often feel their pets' health needs are not always prioritized to the same extent as those of dogs.
Features and Benefits: Based on the positive testimonials, a key feature of Oneonta Veterinary Hospital appears to be the expertise and dedication of their veterinary professionals, particularly Dr. Stafford. The strong recommendation from a client willing to travel a considerable distance underscores the high quality of care provided. This suggests that the hospital prioritizes patient well-being and fosters a relationship of trust with pet owners.
While specific details about advanced technologies or specialized equipment are not available, the focus on experienced and caring staff is a significant advantage. A knowledgeable and compassionate team can make a substantial difference in the quality of care received by your pet and the peace of mind of pet owners.
Promotional Information: Currently, there is no specific promotional information available online for Oneonta Veterinary Hospital. However, the positive word-of-mouth testimonials serve as a powerful endorsement of their services. Satisfied customers are often the best form of promotion, and the review highlighting the willingness to travel for their care speaks volumes about the value pet owners find at this hospital.
For local users in the Oneonta area and surrounding regions, Oneonta Veterinary Hospital presents itself as a reliable and trusted partner in their pets' health journey. Whether you have a dog, cat, rabbit, duck, or even chickens, the hospital's reported willingness to see a variety of animals suggests a broad scope of care. While owners of less common pets may want to have specific discussions about the hospital's experience and resources for their particular species, the positive feedback regarding their understanding and helpfulness is encouraging.
To learn more about the specific services offered, the hospital's facilities, and any current promotions, local users are encouraged to contact Oneonta Veterinary Hospital directly at (607) 432-8570 or +1 607-432-8570. Jul 08, 2024 · Donna DillI have not decided whether or not to bring my birds here or not. They obviously care a lot about dogs and cats. And they will see rabbits and ducks and chickens. However the unfortunate thing about having ornamental /heritage chickens is that you have animals that mean as much or more to you as peoples dogs do but the whole animal world feels like they are somehow more disposable. So while this vet here has been so much more understanding and helpful than Cornell University I and all of the other crazy chicken people are still pretty much on our own with issues dog people get addressed just because their animal are the right species. My birds learn step up, step down, to jump up on places I call them to, and then get down again when asked, the two oldest can turn off my cell phone when they don't like it and my four year old can fly to my hand on cue. My birds can live from six to twelve years. They deserve as much as your dog is all I am saying.
Feb 06, 2024 · song of the black unicorn *Oneonta veterinary hospital is a great place. Staff is professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Stafford and team helped us heal our dachshund’s severe back injury without surgery. Over a year later he is still going strong. We rely on OVH for all our veterinary needs.
Jan 09, 2025 · G GMy dogs have been seeing Joan Puritz since this practice was, "Crescent Pet Lodge" on Winney Hill rd. My oldest dog was 15 when she passed last year, so I've been going to them for 16 years. While Dr. Puritz may have been a straight and to the point old school vet with limited bedside manner, she was an excellent vet and highly experienced. Since opening on Main st. And the name change, there has been a drastic shift. Prices have skyrocketed, and I've been nickled and dimed excessively. A simple neuter for my male dog was going to cost me $600! (I went elsewhere, clearly.) Every visit for an illness/injury is considered an "emergency," incurring a $60-$80 fee on top of any treatment fees and meds, even if they have openings, during normal business hours, or you choose to beon the cancelation list. Most general appts now cost $300 minimum, even just for vaccinations. As of Jan 2025, they're booking out months, and the last straw for me was when (after more than 15yrs of being a customer), I called to book an appt for a new rescue and was told (rudely) they were booking out 3-4m and I would need to pay in ADVANCE and have an "emergency" fee applied to be on the cancelation list. This is a huge deterrent for those of us on a budget to be responsible owners when we're concerned about our pets. I asked to have my pets' records transferred to another vet - who offered me an appt 3 days later, politely, with no additional fees. I'm sorely disappointed. This office could have been an amazing resource in our community, but instead it's become another money grubbing business with little consideration for animals or the owners who love them. Hopefully they take this review as a driver for change and shift their practices, but in the meantime, my advice is to seek care for your pets elsewhere.
