The clinic is also described as nicely decorated, contributing to a calming and reassuring atmosphere, which can be particularly beneficial for anxious animals and their worried families.
Services Offered:
Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center provides a comprehensive suite of veterinary services designed to address various aspects of your pet's health. While specific details of all services are best obtained by contacting the clinic directly, based on the available information and general practices of reputable veterinary hospitals, you can expect the following types of services:
Preventive Care: This is the cornerstone of maintaining your pet's long-term health and includes routine check-ups, vaccinations tailored to your pet's lifestyle and risk factors, parasite prevention (such as flea, tick, and heartworm control), and nutritional counseling to ensure your pet is receiving the appropriate diet for their age and health condition.
Diagnostic Services: When your pet is unwell, accurate diagnosis is crucial. Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center likely offers a range of diagnostic tools, which may include in-house laboratory testing (such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams), digital radiography (X-rays) to visualize internal structures, and potentially ultrasound for more detailed imaging of organs. These tools help the veterinary team quickly and accurately identify the cause of your pet's illness.
Medical Treatment: For pets suffering from various illnesses or conditions, the clinic provides medical treatment, which may involve administering medications, providing supportive care (such as fluids and nutritional support), and closely monitoring your pet's progress. Dr. Hendrikson and the team are dedicated to explaining your pet's condition and the treatment plan in detail, ensuring you are well-informed and comfortable with the care being provided.
Surgical Services: Many veterinary hospitals offer surgical procedures, ranging from routine surgeries like spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries. While the specific surgical capabilities of Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center are not detailed in the provided information, it is a common service offered by comprehensive pet hospitals. It's advisable to inquire directly about their surgical services if your pet requires a procedure.
Dental Care: Maintaining good oral health is essential for your pet's overall well-being. Veterinary dental services typically include dental cleanings under anesthesia, dental examinations, and treatment of dental diseases. Inquire with the clinic to understand the scope of their dental care services.
Specialized Care: One of the standout features of Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center, highlighted in the customer reviews, is their accreditation as a "cat care/cat friendly clinic" – the only one in the county according to one reviewer. This designation signifies that the clinic has met specific standards to ensure a comfortable and stress-free environment for feline patients. This often includes separate waiting areas, quiet examination rooms, and staff trained in handling cats with a gentle and understanding approach. This is particularly important for cat owners who know how easily stressed their feline companions can become during veterinary visits.
Furthermore, the clinic has a special "AHHA" accreditation, although the reviewer was unsure of the exact acronym. AHHA stands for the American Animal Hospital Association, and accreditation by this organization signifies that a veterinary hospital has voluntarily chosen to be evaluated on over 900 standards of excellence in veterinary care. These standards cover all aspects of veterinary medicine, from patient care and safety to facility standards and management. This accreditation demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest quality of care and adhering to best practices in the veterinary field.
The positive review from the owner of a special needs puppy, Willow, further underscores the clinic's commitment to providing attentive and thorough care for animals with specific health challenges. The reviewer was impressed by the time Dr. Hendrikson took to explain Willow's condition and ensure all questions were answered, highlighting the personalized attention provided to each patient.

Aug 17, 2021 · Melissa HenlineI highly recommend this clinic! I chose them because they are the only accredited cat care/cat friendly clinic in the county. They also have special AHHA (not sure if that is the right acronym) accreditation for high standards of care. We are new to kitten care and took our kitten there for the first time today. The clinic was clean, nicely decorated, and the staff was amazing. Everyone was polite, welcoming and took their time explaining things to me and sharing what next steps would be. Our kitten was scared and combative (claws and teeth out and hissing) and they spoke to him calmly and quietly. They treated him with care and respect. It was a bit traumatic for him the first time, but I will definitely come back. The professionalism and courtesy of the staff was a "breath of fresh air" compared to a poor previous experience at a different clinic. Thank you!
Apr 18, 2023 · Melissa ThornburgWe have been taking our 2 dogs to another vet for years but decided to look for a new vet due to a really awful experience a family member had. My family started going here and recommended them to me. Due to Covid they were hesitant in taking a new patient but even so they got my Chloe in for a check up the next day. The vet and staff treated Chloe as if she was their number one priority at all times and really showed great care and kindness when handling her. The level of customer service provided to Chloe and I was unlike anything I have ever experienced at any other vet. There were other pets being seen at the same time and still the vet and staff made me feel as if Chloe was always being cared for and tended to at all times. We had a wonderful experience and will be taking both of dogs here from now on! Thank you to the vet and staff for showing such kindness and care!

Oct 10, 2018 · Faith Johnson ChaffeeI love this clinic. Dr Hendrikson takes the time the time to find out what’s wrong with your pet and not just treat the symptoms. We have 3 pets, 2 dogs and a cat. Our cat suffered from severe skin allergies. With his help she is back to normal and loving as ever. Thank Dr. Hendrikson!!!
