I had been going to this practice for 9 years with my English Bulldog. In fact, Dr Charles Duffy helped deliver him because bulldogs need C- sections. I unfortunately to put my dog down over Xmas because I found out through Cornell Vet ER that he was riddled with cancer( confirmed by necropsy). What bothers me is that I did not receive a phone call or card with their condolences. The ER( that barely knew us), Chewy ( who delivered the dog food), and even the pet insurance company all sent cards. But not one word from the practice who knew us very well ( my bulldog was a frequent flier there…, the office knew the sound of my voice). No card, no phone call. Nothing. In fact, when I called the front desk and told them, they said they knew. I believe this was extraordinarily cold hearted. Beware.

Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House Introduce
This introduction focuses on Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House, located at 726 Connecticut Ave, Norwalk, CT 06854, USA. For our local users in Singapore seeking to understand the spectrum of experiences at 'Pet Hospitals', examining feedback about facilities like this, even internationally, can provide valuable insights. Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House, reachable by phone at (203) 838-8421 or mobile at +1 203-838-8421, has received feedback that raises concerns regarding their aftercare and the availability of their veterinarians.
Based on the available customer reviews, a significant issue raised pertains to the lack of compassionate follow-up after the loss of a pet. One reviewer had been a client for nine years, during which time their English Bulldog was under the care of the practice, with Dr. Charles Duffy even assisting in the dog's birth via C-section. Unfortunately, the reviewer had to euthanize their dog due to widespread cancer, a diagnosis confirmed by Cornell Vet ER. The primary grievance was the absence of any condolence call or card from Norwalk Veterinary Hospital, despite their long-term relationship and the dog being a "frequent flier" there. The reviewer contrasted this with the thoughtful gestures from the ER (who barely knew them), Chewy (the pet food delivery service), and their pet insurance company, all of whom sent cards. The reviewer felt this lack of acknowledgment from their long-term vet practice was "extraordinarily cold hearted" and advised others to "Beware." When the reviewer contacted the front desk, they were simply told that the staff was aware of the situation.
Another reviewer echoed concerns about the quality of care potentially being impacted by the number of pets the hospital is managing. While acknowledging that Dr. Duffy is a "nice enough guy," this reviewer noted his lack of availability when needed and, similarly, the absence of a follow-up call after their dog had to be euthanized. This reviewer described Dr. Duffy's lack of contact as "really weak on his part" and stated they would "never recommend this place to anyone." Both reviews, therefore, highlight a significant dissatisfaction with the level of emotional support and communication provided to clients during a difficult time.
Information regarding the environment of Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House is not detailed in these reviews. However, the fact that they also operate as "The Boarding House" suggests they have facilities to accommodate pets for overnight or longer stays. The mention of a front desk implies a standard reception area. Beyond this, specific details about the clinic's ambiance or facilities are not provided.
The services offered include general veterinary care, as evidenced by the long-term care of the English Bulldog and Dr. Duffy's involvement in the C-section. The fact that they are also "The Boarding House" indicates they provide pet boarding services. However, the reviews primarily focus on the perceived shortcomings in their client communication and follow-up, rather than detailing the range or quality of their medical or boarding services. The lack of availability of Dr. Duffy, as mentioned by one reviewer, might suggest limitations in accessing specific veterinary expertise when needed.
Features of Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House, based on the limited and negative feedback, might include the presence of Dr. Charles Duffy, who has been practicing for a significant time (as indicated by the 9-year client relationship). They also offer boarding services. However, the defining feature from these reviews is the perceived lack of empathy and follow-through in client care, particularly in sensitive situations like the loss of a pet, and potential issues with veterinarian availability.
Promotional information is absent in the provided text. The customer reviews are strongly negative and serve as warnings rather than endorsements. They highlight a significant lapse in what the clients perceived as basic compassionate care and communication.
In summary, the available information regarding Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House in Norwalk, CT, paints a concerning picture regarding their client communication and aftercare, particularly following the loss of a pet. Both reviewers express disappointment with the lack of follow-up from Dr. Duffy and the practice, despite long-term relationships. One reviewer also suggests potential issues with the overall quality of care due to the number of pets being managed. These reviews serve as cautionary tales for potential clients.
For our local users in Singapore, the experiences shared by these customers underscore the importance of compassionate and communicative veterinary care. When choosing a 'Pet Hospital', it is essential to find a practice that not only provides competent medical services but also demonstrates empathy and support for pet owners, especially during difficult times. The lack of these qualities reported by the reviewers of Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House is a significant concern to consider.
The contrast drawn by one reviewer between the lack of acknowledgment from their long-term vet and the thoughtful responses from other entities highlights the expectation that a 'Pet Hospital' with a long-standing relationship should provide a certain level of emotional support. The second reviewer's comment about Dr. Duffy's availability further suggests that accessibility to the primary veterinarian is also an important factor for pet owners.
Given the strongly negative nature of the feedback, it is difficult to recommend Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House based solely on this information. These reviews serve as a reminder for pet owners to consider not only the medical expertise but also the client care practices of their chosen veterinary service provider.

Feb 22, 2025 · Alisontoo many pets being cared for by Norwalk Vet has lead too poor care. Dr Duffy, nice enough guy, but not available when needed and no call from him after dog needed to be put down. really weak on his part and would never recommend this place to anyone.
May 12, 2025 · BrianI compared the vet my mother uses with this one and the treatment for similar issues was like night and day. I know things are tough right now, so I gave an extra star to be fair. But basically their response was to see a specialist. I'm not sure why you'd bother to see them at all if you need a specialist for common ailments.
Jan 25, 2025 · Noelle SparrowAmazing vets and staff! I’ve had my dog Chase here since we adopted him at 10 weeks. No matter which vet you see, they are all loving, caring and most importantly knowledgeable. Never an issue to get an appointment. Always have an answer to any concern. Wouldn’t take my dog elsewhere.
Mar 24, 2023 · KC KreigI boarded my dog here and got her groomed. She came back happy, healthy, and with a great haircut! The only this I wish is that they had a camera system where you could watch your dog, or if they could send some photos/videos of your dog when you're away (granted I didn't ask them to but it would be a nice addition if they offered that). I also wish there were more photos on their page of their facilities and what it looks like on the inside, I think that would help new people like me choosing a place to board their dog when they're away. Other than that, my dog seemed to have a great time!
