My handsome cat Snickers was having an issue that greatly concerned me. I stopped by the clinic first thing in the morning with a video of his situation. The very kind staff listened to my concern, viewed the video, and then proceeded to work him in that day. I got him there, and Dr. Sheffield saw him. This was my first experience with her. She is awesome. She knew immediately what was wrong with Snickers, and treated him. Normally he is very scared at the vet, but with her he was calm. That said a lot to me. We discussed his problem, she told me what I needed to do to get him back on track. She did not rush it, she took her time. I was concerned after Dr. Knowles retired. I am no longer concerned. Dr. Sheffield is excellent, I highly suggest coming here if your pet is in need of a great vet. The entire staff is amazing. I feel very lucky Snickers has such a wonderful vet/clinic. They are THE BEST, and the prices are very reasonable. Loves them.

Services

Neuse Veterinary Clinic, as a full-service "Pet Hospital," provides a wide range of veterinary services designed to cover all aspects of a pet's life. Based on client feedback, their services likely include:

  • Comprehensive Medical Consultations and Diagnostics: The clinic excels at diagnosing and treating various pet ailments. Dr. Sheffield's ability to immediately identify Snickers's issue and treat him effectively highlights their diagnostic acumen. This would typically involve thorough examinations, in-house laboratory testing, and potentially imaging services like X-rays to get a complete picture of a pet's health.
  • Urgent and Same-Day Appointments: Their willingness to "work in" a sick pet on the same day, even without a prior appointment, demonstrates their commitment to addressing urgent concerns promptly. This flexibility is invaluable for pet owners facing unexpected health crises with their animals.
  • Preventative Care: While not explicitly detailed, a comprehensive pet hospital would offer routine vaccinations, parasite prevention, wellness exams, and nutritional counseling to maintain long-term health and prevent disease. The mention of Dr. Knowles's retirement and the seamless transition to Dr. Sheffield suggests a consistent approach to ongoing care.
  • Medication Management: The clinic provides appropriate medication and treatment plans, as seen with Snickers's treatment. They also educate owners on how to administer care at home to get their pets "back on track."
  • Client Education: A significant focus is placed on educating pet owners. Veterinarians take their time to discuss problems and provide clear instructions, ensuring owners feel confident in managing their pet's health.
  • Compassionate End-of-Life Care: The deeply touching gesture of sending a condolence letter after the unexpected loss of a beloved dog, Molly, speaks volumes about their empathy and support during the most challenging times for pet owners. This indicates a thoughtful and caring approach to pet bereavement.
  • Surgical Procedures: While specific surgeries aren't detailed, as a "Pet Hospital," it is highly probable that they offer various surgical services, including routine procedures like spaying and neutering, as well as more complex soft tissue surgeries.

Recently lost one of my dogs very unexpectedly. Calling the vet office to notify them never crossed by mind but around 4 days after Molly passed, I got a letter in the mail from the clinic saying how sorry they were for our loss. New Bern is a small town but the fact that they had a staff member who knew what had happened and made sure we got a card meant everything at a time I was struggling very significantly. Dr. Shelton, Kristin and Jill are always helpful and willing to deal with all of my questions.

They are great! CCHS uses them for regular visits and I'm never disappointed. Not sure if they are taking new patients at this time.
