The staff here are amazing, I unfortunately had to put one of my pets down. I decided to cremate him and he came back in a very nice wooden box, along with a clay imprint of his paws. Everybody was very understanding and caring through the whole process. If you need any emergency vet care, I highly recommend this organization.

Welcome to MSPCA-Angell West

Welcome to MSPCA-Angell West, a Pet Hospital located at 293 2nd Ave in Waltham, Massachusetts, dedicated to providing a range of veterinary services to the local community. As part of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), MSPCA-Angell West operates with a mission focused on animal welfare and offers services that address various needs of pet owners, including routine care and emergency situations. While specific details about the clinic's environment are best obtained through a visit, the information available online provides insights into the care and services offered.

One heartfelt review highlights the compassionate support provided by the staff during a difficult time. The pet owner recounts the experience of having to euthanize their pet and commends the understanding and caring nature of everyone involved throughout the process. The decision to cremate the pet was handled with sensitivity, and the return of the pet's ashes in a "very nice wooden box," along with a clay imprint of the paws, demonstrates a thoughtful and respectful approach to end-of-life care. This positive feedback strongly recommends MSPCA-Angell West for emergency veterinary care, emphasizing the staff's empathy during challenging circumstances.

However, another review presents a contrasting experience regarding communication and timely service. This pet owner brought their dog in for blood work on a Thursday and was informed that the results would be available by Monday. By 5 PM on Monday, the results had not been received, prompting the owner to call. They were then told that the veterinarian would call them later that day with the results. When the owner called back at 7 PM, they were informed that the veterinarian had left for the day and that the wrong phone number had been recorded on their account. Given that their dog was in "bad condition" and time was of the essence, the owner expressed significant concern and frustration over the delay and the error in contact information, labeling it as "very Irresponsible for a vet’s office." This review raises concerns about the efficiency of communication and the accuracy of record-keeping, particularly in situations where a pet's health is a significant concern.

Considering these two contrasting experiences, it appears that MSPCA-Angell West has a team that can be highly compassionate and supportive, particularly in emotionally sensitive situations like pet euthanasia. The thoughtful gesture of providing a wooden box for cremated remains and a paw print is a testament to their caring approach during such times. The recommendation for emergency vet care based on this positive experience suggests that the hospital is equipped to handle critical situations.

On the other hand, the negative review highlights potential issues with communication, the timely delivery of diagnostic results, and the accuracy of administrative information. Delays in receiving crucial blood work results and errors in contact information can be particularly distressing for pet owners worried about their animal's health. This suggests that while the staff may be caring, there might be inconsistencies in their operational efficiency or communication protocols.

As a Pet Hospital, MSPCA-Angell West likely offers a range of services beyond emergency care and end-of-life services. Based on the reviews, they provide diagnostic services such as blood work. It is reasonable to infer that they also offer general veterinary care, including wellness examinations, vaccinations, treatment for illnesses and injuries, and potentially surgical services. As part of the MSPCA, an organization dedicated to animal protection and care, it is also possible that they are involved in adoption services or have a strong focus on ethical and responsible pet ownership.

The feature of providing compassionate support during pet euthanasia, including thoughtful keepsakes, is a distinctive aspect highlighted in one review. This indicates a sensitivity to the emotional needs of pet owners during difficult times. Conversely, the potential for communication breakdowns and delays in critical information, as mentioned in the other review, is a point that prospective clients may want to consider.

Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, the mention of emergency vet care in a positive context suggests that they are equipped to handle urgent medical situations for pets in the Waltham area. For local users, MSPCA-Angell West presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews. They appear to have a caring and supportive staff, particularly in sensitive situations like end-of-life care, and are recommended for emergency services by one client. However, another client experienced significant issues with communication and the timely receipt of diagnostic results, which is a crucial aspect of veterinary care.

Prospective clients may want to weigh these experiences when considering MSPCA-Angell West for their pet's needs. If emergency care or compassionate end-of-life services are a priority, the positive review is reassuring. However, it may be prudent to ensure clear communication protocols and expectations regarding timelines for test results are established when using their services. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the environment, full range of services, and current operational efficiency, local users are encouraged to contact MSPCA-Angell West directly at (781) 902-8400 or +1 781-902-8400 for more information or to schedule a visit. Understanding their current practices regarding communication and follow-up will be essential for pet owners seeking reliable and timely veterinary care.

I brought my dog there to get blood work done Thursday. They told me the blood work would be in by Monday. It was 5 PM and I still haven’t received the bloodwork so I called them and they said that they spoke with the vet and that she would be calling me with the results later that day so I called back at 7 PM Just to be told that the vet was gone for the day And that they put the wrong number on my account with my dog in bad condition I don’t have extra time with her to wait around. I needed to know what was going on with her right away. I feel this is very Irresponsible for a vet’s office.

Very pricy but looks like suffering from a chronic staff shortage. The reception station always abundant and the waiting room was super dirty. I’m not sure how much staff they had. It looked like everyone are hiding and the last thing they want to do is to show up. I was offered to wait to the vet in a tiny treatment room with blood on the floor for about 1-2 hours!! Asked my money back and left.

Dr Salzer has been working with our dog Wesley with separation anxiety. We've been told it's a long process but she told us with the last visit we have had some progress. It felt really good to know that he is accomplishing what he needs to so that eventually he can stay alone for a little while. What I appreciated most about Angell is that my dog's best interests are important to them.

I came to Angell after having received very scary news from my vet. I got an appointment with a specialist within 24 hours. Dr. Gorman was professional , kind and very knowledgeable. She handled my dog with care and compassion. Her impressions and explanations were clear as she reviewed nexts steps. Diagnostic tests were scheduled 3 days later. Support staff were friendly and efficient. The testing and procedures went well and I immediately got a full report both verbally and in writing. I couldn't be more grateful for the compassion and expertise demonstrated throughout the process. Thank you. What I appreciated most about Angell is expert care and compassion.
