The team at Mountain West Veterinary Hospital saved my dogs life and I couldn’t say nicer things about our experience with them. Our girl is two years old and was diagnosed with IMHA three weeks ago. She required a week of hospitalization, three blood transfusions, countless amounts of medications and more. The hospital staff was excellent at communicating every step of her treatment with us, letting us visit her and spend some quality time with her (even let me take a nap and snuggle with her for an hour, which was needed for both of us), and overall was just more than compassionate with our situation. The clinic is clean and spacious. I will never take my pets to another emergency clinic ever again. I’m so thankful they are open! Thank you again to Dr. Sharber, Dr. Wu, Dr. Simmons and the rest of the veterinary staff that worked tirelessly to ensure that we have the opportunity to make more memories with our sweet Obi.

Welcome to Mountain West Veterinary Specialists

Welcome to Mountain West Veterinary Specialists, a dedicated pet hospital located at 13860 S 2700 W, Bluffdale, UT 84065, USA. Serving the Bluffdale and surrounding Utah communities, Mountain West Veterinary Specialists stands out as a critical resource for pet owners seeking advanced and emergency veterinary care. Operating under the platform category of "Pet Hospital," this facility is equipped to handle complex medical conditions, emergencies, and specialty treatments for your beloved animal companions. The heartfelt testimonials from grateful pet owners highlight the expertise, compassion, and potentially more affordable pricing that define the services offered at this vital veterinary center.

The environment at Mountain West Veterinary Specialists is described by a customer as "clean and spacious," which are crucial attributes for a facility providing advanced medical care. A clean environment minimizes the risk of infection, while a spacious layout can accommodate the various needs of a specialty and emergency hospital, including examination rooms, treatment areas, surgical suites, and potentially intensive care units. The fact that a pet owner specifically noted the cleanliness suggests a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, which is paramount in a veterinary setting, especially when dealing with critical cases and immunocompromised patients.

As a "Pet Hospital" specializing in advanced and emergency care, Mountain West Veterinary Specialists offers a comprehensive range of services that go beyond routine veterinary care. Based on the experiences shared by customers, the services likely include:

  • Emergency Veterinary Care: The fact that a customer stated, "I will never take my pets to another emergency clinic ever again," underscores the critical role Mountain West Veterinary Specialists plays in handling urgent and life-threatening situations. This implies the availability of services during critical hours, equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of emergencies.
  • Specialty Veterinary Services: The name "Veterinary Specialists" indicates the presence of veterinarians with advanced training in specific areas of veterinary medicine. While the exact specialties are not listed, they often include internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, oncology, neurology, and critical care. The successful treatment of a dog with IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), a complex autoimmune condition, suggests expertise in internal medicine and critical care.
  • Hospitalization and Intensive Care: The review mentions a dog requiring a week of hospitalization and multiple blood transfusions, indicating the capacity for prolonged and intensive inpatient care for critically ill animals. This includes monitoring, administering medications, and providing supportive therapies.
  • Blood Transfusions: The availability of blood transfusion services is crucial for treating conditions like IMHA and severe anemia due to various causes.
  • Advanced Diagnostics: To accurately diagnose complex conditions, specialty hospitals typically offer advanced diagnostic tools, which may include sophisticated imaging (e.g., ultrasound, MRI, CT scans) and comprehensive laboratory services. While not explicitly mentioned, these are often integral to specialty care.
  • Surgical Services: Depending on the specialists on staff, the hospital likely offers a range of surgical procedures, from routine to complex, to address various medical and traumatic conditions.
  • Compassionate End-of-Life Care: While not directly mentioned in these reviews, specialty hospitals often provide compassionate support and care during end-of-life situations when advanced treatment options are exhausted or not in the pet's best interest.

Several key features distinguish Mountain West Veterinary Specialists as a vital resource for pet owners in need of advanced care. The most prominent feature is the expertise of their veterinary team, including specialists capable of handling complex and critical cases that general practice veterinarians may not be equipped to manage. The successful treatment of the dog with IMHA, requiring multiple blood transfusions and intensive care, is a testament to this expertise.

Another significant feature highlighted in a review is the excellent communication provided by the hospital staff. The owner of the dog with IMHA noted that the staff was "excellent at communicating every step of her treatment with us," which is crucial during stressful and emotional times. This transparency and willingness to keep owners informed fosters trust and allows for collaborative decision-making regarding the pet's care.

Furthermore, the compassionate approach of the staff is repeatedly emphasized. Allowing the owner to visit, spend quality time, and even nap with their hospitalized dog demonstrates a level of empathy and understanding that goes above and beyond standard medical care. This focus on the emotional well-being of both the pet and the owner is a significant differentiator.

Interestingly, one reviewer mentioned that the prices for the services provided were "nearly half of what others in the valley charge," particularly in the context of saving their pet after eating a toy. This suggests that Mountain West Veterinary Specialists may offer more affordable pricing for certain emergency or specialized procedures compared to other facilities in the area, which can be a significant factor for pet owners facing unexpected and costly medical emergencies.

While the reviews provide strong positive feedback on the quality of care and communication in critical situations, one reviewer noted a potential area for improvement: follow-up communication regarding the pet's ongoing condition. This suggests that while the immediate and intensive care is excellent, the clinic might benefit from more proactive outreach regarding the pet's recovery after discharge.

Currently, the provided information does not include any specific details about ongoing promotional offers or special programs at Mountain West Veterinary Specialists. Given their focus on emergency and specialty care, their services are often driven by immediate medical needs rather than routine promotions. However, the mention of potentially more affordable pricing for certain services could be considered an inherent value proposition for pet owners facing costly emergency treatments. To inquire about any specific payment options or financial assistance programs that might be available, interested pet owners are encouraged to contact Mountain West Veterinary Specialists directly at (801) 515-5011 or +1 801-515-5011.

In conclusion, Mountain West Veterinary Specialists in Bluffdale, UT, stands as a crucial "Pet Hospital" providing exceptional specialty and emergency veterinary care. The clean and spacious facility is staffed by a compassionate and highly skilled team, as evidenced by the successful treatment of complex medical conditions and the positive experiences shared by grateful pet owners. The hospital is characterized by excellent communication, a caring approach towards both pets and their families, and potentially more affordable pricing for critical services. While follow-up communication could be an area for improvement, the overall feedback underscores the vital role Mountain West Veterinary Specialists plays in saving pets' lives and providing advanced medical care when it is most needed. They could be a bit better about following up with you regarding your pet and how they’re doing, but they’re definitely to credit with saving my little buddy after eating a toy. They were priced at nearly half of what others in the valley charge for the service provided. I thank them, and so does Rolando!

Neglectful Care and Rude Staff We brought our dog, Akela, to this ER vet around 1 PM for a serious paw injury. The doctor said they’d get to her in a few hours, but after 8 hours of being hung up on when looking for an update, we decided to swing by. They made her walk up to an exam room, every time she moved her paw. We could see her tendons, blood pooling and spilling out of the wound. All they’d done was give her pain meds. They didn’t clean or wrap the wound, which worsened significantly—her tendons were exposed, the vet even told us that because it's been a long wait, her skin was dying off, deteriorating, and they'd have to remove a lot of tissue. When we asked for information on the lack of care. The doctor accused us of being “selfish” and “risking other animals’ health” for wanting information. She dismissed our concerns about the wound worsening, saying I was “grossly exaggerating,” yet admitted they now needed to remove tissue due to the delay. She even told us, “If you don’t like it, leave.” At 8:30 PM, a new doctor arrived and finally started the procedure. They called late at night, after we were in bed, saying we needed to pick her up immediately or pay a $40 overnight fee. Originally, They stated that there was no hospitalization fee, the fee wouldn't change depending on how long it took to care for her. Throughout, the staff continued to call her the wrong name, were dismissive, and showed no compassion. To top it off, I didn't get discharge information. No information on how to care for her wound, info on follow up appointments. They had me pay, gave me a bag of meds, and literally swung the front door open, Hitting her cone with the door, and scaring her, then slammed the door once we were through. I understand emergencies cause delays, but 8 hours with no basic care is unacceptable. If you can’t staff properly, don’t claim to be 24/7. I’ll be sharing this experience to warn others—no one should endure this level of neglect and disrespect. I've never been spoken down to like this in my life. If a receptionist would have just given an update, we would have been happy. 'Hey, we're slammed, we're moving slower than we thought, we'll get to her by this evening' that's all that was required. The exam rooms were dirty, there was urine puddles and blood on the floor from previous patients. Not a sterile or clean environment. It smelled like mildew. Not a clean hospital environment. I called my regular vet to make a follow up appointment, request her records, and hopefully get her bandages off. My regular vet stated they will no longer recommend this hospital to future patients.

This is the place to go when something is wrong with your furry family member. Not only is the facility new, beautiful and immaculately clean, but every member of the staff is attentive, compassionate, and top-notch professionally. They performed the quality of work on my dear pet that I’d demand on my own body in a hospital. To top it all off, they gave very reasonable cost predictions, and rather than finishing high like most vets I’ve used, they only charged for what was necessary rather than what they could pack in for maximum revenue. Here, the animal genuinely comes first, with the concern for the owner coming in at a very close second. I’m so glad location and staff are here!!

This was the most pleasant experience I’ve ever had at an ER vet!!! Talk about a bougie experience for not only my dog, but for me as well. The lobby is gorgeous and I loved that they provide you with free snacks and drinks while you wait. The staff was SO friendly, compassionate, and understanding. I immediately felt like I could trust them with my precious dog and I truly felt like my dog received the care that he deserved. Also, when it came time to pay I was shocked at how affordable the bill was! Seriously this place has nothing but positive and healing energy! THANK YOU for providing my dog with the utmost care and LOVE!!! 🫶✨
