We’ve taken both of our golden retrievers here for a few years now. We had one incident a few years back with Dr. Lane and our larger dog about a medication but continued to go because the vet techs and Dr. Perry have been pleasant to work with. We brought our 1 year old and a few months golden retriever to get spayed yesterday. I was hesitant to keep my appointment because when it was booked, I did not receive much information about prep or post care from the front office. I had to call a few days before the scheduled procedure to make sure that we were well prepared since she was going under anesthesia, and this is a major surgery. I definitely should have trusted my gut and not gone to Montrose clinic for this. When we arrived, I communicated to the vet tech that she is a fairly anxious dog and may need extra medication, post treatment or care during the procedure, which is why I brought blankets and toys for her. She told me they had blankets and she can’t take her own back. The vet tech seem to really not care and just brought her back to the room with her one toy. We were told that we would receive a phone call once the procedure was done between 4 and 5:30 P.m. By 5 PM I hadn’t heard anything all day knowing the close at 6PM. I called and was then told she was ready for pick up having no idea how long she must have been sitting there done with her procedure. Once I arrived, I communicated my disappointment and how the situation was handled, and the front desk asked if I had received a call when the surgery was done, which I had not. I did not receive a call when the surgery was done nor did I receive a call when she was ready for pick up the vet. The vet tech and front desk individuals were apologetic and understanding, but I do not put the blame on them. I put the blame on Dr. Lane who did the procedure and did not communicate to anybody that our dog was ready for pick up because she supposedly had another obligation she had to leave the clinic for.Emergencies happen but I was then told she spoke with the vet tech and the front office about other clients and other animals that she had seen that day. Again no mention about our dog being ready for pick up after a major surgery. I highly do not recommend this facility or Dr. Lane for how horrible she handled this situation. When we picked up our dog she was trembling with anxiety which just angered me more about this. I am appalled at this behavior and how Dr. Lane did not care fully our dog from beginning to end.

Dec 19, 2024 · Marie DalyCame in for an initial appointment for my puppy. Parking was adequate, and they offered a Saturday appointment which works really well with my schedule. The receptionists were kind, and were very welcoming. We were very quickly guided to a private room, and the technician (or assistant, not sure. A nice knowledgeable gentleman) helped us address some issues. The vet was so sweet, and really took her time answering my fiancé’s questions. They gave us free samples of flea/heartworm medication, and a dental kit to get started. We did not feel rushed at all. Price for the appointment was more than fair. No medical services were provided directly, just a check-up and establishing care for the pup. Cost was less than $40. They seem very upfront with pricing, which we appreciated. The staff was overall VERY kind, we felt in very good hands. We will definitely continue receiving care from this vet. They also seem very LGBTQ+ friendly. Would recommend this location to anyone in midtown Houston. 5 stars!
Feb 15, 2025 · Edouard LesauxWe’ve been taking our cat and dog to Montrose Veterinary Clinic for 1.5 years, and we couldn’t be happier. The whole team — from the doctors to the techs (Hello, John!) — are professional, friendly, kind, and truly care about the animals. They always explain everything so clearly that we leave without any questions. You can tell they love their work and treat both pets and owners with attention and empathy. What we really appreciate is the honesty here — no pushing unnecessary procedures or playing on your emotions. They give straightforward recommendations and focus completely on your pet during appointments. The reception team is also great — they always answer the phone, call back, and send texts. We once had an emergency when our dog was poisoned, and while other clinics wouldn’t take us, Montrose helped us right away. After trying another clinic (which was a terrible experience), we came back here and aren’t going anywhere else. Highly recommend Montrose Veterinary Clinic.
Oct 15, 2024 · Yuliya VeysVery professional place with great staff! I established care for my elderly cat after some weight loss and pretty bad vomiting. It was easy to schedule the initial visit which was literally next day. The staff and vet were very compassionate and thorough with their evaluation and the prices were very fair compared to other clinics. They also do a great job getting blood samples on my cat, which has been a challenge for other clinics in the past. The vet techs I’ve met are very competent and skilled. He was diagnosed, started therapy, gaining weight, and doing much better! Highly recommend. Very accessible clinic and I (and my cat, surprisingly) enjoy going there.
Sep 17, 2024 · Shawnee WallaceWe have been going to Montrose veterinary clinic for a little over 10 years. We have 3 dogs. While the medical care has been good the front desk is dismal. Case in point. We order our meds for all 3 large dogs elsewhere as it is cheaper. Since all 3 dogs are close enough in weight we use the same products for the heartgard. My presciption was denied by the front desk a month ago because they(Vet) said the dog needed a heartworm test. When checking my records( fro vet) she was not due for another 6 months. I had to send my copy to the front desk person who still argued and had a surly attitude. Now to day again, message from Med shop front desk denied again for the same dog who is not due for a heart worm for another 4 months. I have wasted enough time with this careless attitude from the front desk. They really are not interested in doing their job. That is apparent. Employees like this cause lost customers.Take note if you are clients here to save all receipts.
