Love the staff and all the doctors we have met so far. You can tell they are all real animal lovers. They call/email back quickly as well, which I so appreciate! Our pup never minds coming in here, even for shots as they have their positive distraction methods, like a pup cup. So glad we landed a great vet on the first try!

Welcome to Midtown Veterinary Medical Center
Introducing Midtown Veterinary Medical Center, a "Pet Hospital" located at 2550 Stover St UNIT H, Fort Collins, CO 80525, USA. You can reach them at (970) 305-5522 or their mobile number, +1 970-305-5522. Based on customer reviews, Midtown Veterinary Medical Center is appreciated for its friendly staff who are perceived as genuine animal lovers, their efficient communication through quick call and email responses, and their fair pricing. They also employ positive distraction methods, such as pup cups, to make visits more pleasant for pets.
One reviewer expresses their love for the staff and all the doctors they have encountered, noting that it's evident they are "real animal lovers." They also appreciate the promptness of the clinic's communication, with quick callbacks and email replies. A notable positive mentioned is that their pup doesn't mind visiting, even for vaccinations, thanks to the clinic's positive distraction techniques like offering a pup cup. This pet owner was pleased to have found a "great vet on the first try," indicating a positive initial experience.
Another customer who took their three pups (and some fosters) to Midtown for over three years generally enjoyed most of the staff and their visits. They consistently felt that the clinic's prices were fair and, for the most part, believed their dogs received good care. This suggests that for routine veterinary needs and pet owners mindful of cost, Midtown Veterinary Medical Center can be a suitable option.
However, the same reviewer points out a significant limitation: Midtown Veterinary Medical Center does not offer emergency or night care. This could be a crucial factor for pet owners who anticipate needing urgent care outside of regular business hours or in situations requiring hospitalization. The reviewer themselves had needed such care a few times over the years for their older dogs, necessitating visits to other facilities. Therefore, while Midtown might be suitable for routine care, it may not be the sole option for pets with potential for serious or urgent medical needs.
Another review raises concerns about the handling of nervous pets. The owner of a two-year-old German Shepherd was "not super happy" with a vaccination visit in October, describing it as "fairly 'cold'." They felt that the doctor seemed immediately apprehensive when their dog showed nervousness and made minimal effort to comfort him. According to the reviewer, the doctor did not physically interact with the dog, other than to administer the injection after the owner was asked to muzzle him. The owner clarified that their shepherd is well-socialized. Their frustration stemmed not from the nervousness itself, but from the perceived lack of effort to create a more reassuring environment for the dog, even after the muzzle was applied. The reviewer suggested that simple gestures, like offering a treat (as the dog is highly food-motivated), could have potentially eased the situation. This feedback indicates that pet owners with anxious or fearful animals might have a less positive experience at this clinic.
Concluding their review, the same customer mentioned experiencing "a few communication issues over the years that could have been addressed better." However, they still offered a conditional recommendation, suggesting that if you have an "easy dog" and are looking for a "well priced vet," Midtown Veterinary Medical Center could be a good choice. This provides a balanced perspective, acknowledging the clinic's strengths in pricing and potentially with calmer animals, while also highlighting areas for potential improvement in communication and handling of nervous pets.
Based on these reviews, the environment at Midtown Veterinary Medical Center appears to be generally friendly and staffed by individuals who care about animals. They utilize positive reinforcement techniques to ease anxiety during procedures. However, for pets that are particularly nervous or reactive, the approach might not be as comforting or patient-focused as some owners might prefer. The clinic itself is likely equipped for routine veterinary care, but it's important to note the absence of emergency and overnight hospitalization services.
The services offered at Midtown Veterinary Medical Center, based on the customer feedback, include:
- Routine check-ups and wellness exams.
- Vaccinations, utilizing positive distraction methods.
- General medical care for illnesses.
- Fairly priced veterinary services.
Given that it is a veterinary medical center, it is reasonable to assume they offer a broader range of services beyond what is explicitly mentioned in these reviews, such as diagnostics, minor surgical procedures, dental care, and preventative medicine. However, it is explicitly stated that they do not offer emergency or night care that would require hospitalization.
The features of Midtown Veterinary Medical Center, as highlighted by the customer experiences, include:
- Caring Staff: Doctors and staff are perceived as genuine animal lovers.
- Quick Communication: Prompt responses to calls and emails are appreciated.
- Positive Distraction Methods: Using techniques like pup cups to make visits better for pets.
- Fair Pricing: Generally considered to be reasonably priced.
However, it's also important to note the limitations mentioned:
- No Emergency or Night Care: Not equipped for urgent situations requiring hospitalization outside of regular hours.
- Potentially Cold Approach with Nervous Pets: Some concerns raised about the handling and lack of comfort provided to anxious animals.
- Occasional Communication Issues: A reviewer noted some past communication challenges.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. For any ongoing promotions or special offers, it would be best to contact Midtown Veterinary Medical Center directly.
In conclusion, Midtown Veterinary Medical Center in Fort Collins, CO, appears to be a "Pet Hospital" that offers caring and fairly priced routine veterinary services with a staff that genuinely loves animals. Their quick communication and use of positive distraction for pets are also notable positives. However, local users should be aware that they do not provide emergency or overnight care, and some pet owners have raised concerns about the handling of nervous animals and occasional communication issues. If you have a relatively calm pet and are looking for a reasonably priced vet for routine care, Midtown Veterinary Medical Center might be a good fit. However, if your pet is prone to anxiety during vet visits or if you prioritize a clinic with 24/7 emergency services, you may want to consider other options.

Apr 03, 2025 · marcia grahamI took my 3 pups (plus a few fosters) to Midtown for a little over 3 years and honestly enjoyed most of the staff and my visits. I always felt like they were fairly priced and for the most part felt like my dogs were taken care of pretty well. They don't offer emergency or night care so tough to go to them in the event of a more serious/urgent need that may require hospitalization which I have needed a few times over the years one for each of my older dogs. I wouldn't take a dog here who is nervous at appointments or around the vet. When I took my 2 year old german shepherd into the vet for his shots in October I wasn't super happy when it was a fairly 'cold' visit. I felt like the doctor was immediately afraid when my german shepherd was nervous and did pretty much nothing to provide comfort. I don't think she touched him once other than to inject the needle (after making me muzzle him). To be clear my shepherd goes to the dogpark, is great with kids, and is around people consistently. My only frustration was not that they were nervous or that he was, it was that there was 0 effort, even after they asked me to muzzle him to create any peace of mind for my dog in a stressful environment. He's extremely food motivated and even offering him a treat could have alleviated the issue. Overall I felt there were a few communication issues over the years that could have been addressed better as a service provider but if you have an easy dog and need a well priced vet I would recommend.
May 02, 2025 · Jess JuddHad a great appointment with Dr. McCarthy (the clinic owner) ---- I really liked her, and maybe even more importantly, my cat liked her, too. My cat was as comfortable as could be expected, given that she was in a new setting and was at the "V-E-T's" office. Previously, I had taken her to 2 other vets, but they just weren't the right ones for us. I'm so glad I kept searching. Dr. McCarthy is kind, thorough, and experienced. I really trust her. And she even called, herself, to tell me the lab results. Highly recommended!
Jan 28, 2025 · 1 determined turtleJust recently called this place and asked 1 simple question and the lady named Jane I think she said, well she was quite rude, I was very polite and she was out right rude, i don’t know if she’s had a long day? Or what? But I also didn’t like having the phone slammed in my ear:) was just wanting to get my dog neutered but off to somewhere better to handle my business!
Apr 17, 2025 · Joshua StoverI've been taking my senior cat, Honey, to Dr. Hunter for a few years now, and every time she has gone above and beyond to make sure Honey gets the best care possible, and has taken the time to keep me informed and educated (as much as a non-professional can be) about her care and condition. With Honey getting older, Dr. Hunter has been vulnerable with me and validated my feelings around one day having to say goodbye to her, while also informing me about options to continue care for Honey while also keeping her comfortable. My partner's cat, Phoebe, has also been in to see Dr. Hunter when she was having issues with her bladder lining, and immediately got her set up to ease her pain, and before you know it Phoebe's back to 100%, causing mischief and zooming around the house. Jane, one of the receptionists, has also greatly stood out to me. Every time we've come in, Jane is friendly and engaging, and shows kindness above what might be considered the minimum. For as long as I have creatures here in Fort Collins, I know that I can trust Dr. Hunter, Jane, and the other VA's to give the best care to our kitties, all while offering genuine care and compassion.
