I found a kitten dying on the sidewalk in front of my house (it may have been hit by a car, was clearly suffering) and when the publicly funded animal shelter refused to take it or do anything other than give me a list of other shelters in faraway counties, I was at a loss. When I passed this animal hospital, I figured I would just see if there was anything they could do, and the receptionist was very compassionate; she realized that the kitten was suffering terribly and immediately offered to take care of it, free of charge. I am so grateful for their willingness to help in that situation, and can tell that they truly care about animals, even poor feral ones.

Miami Acres Animal Hospital Introduce
Welcome to Miami Acres Animal Hospital, your local Pet Hospital Near You, located at 531 N County Rd 25A in Troy, Ohio. While we aim to provide quality veterinary care to the Troy community and surrounding areas, it is important for local users to be aware of recent customer feedback which presents contrasting experiences.
The environment and service at Miami Acres Animal Hospital appear to have varying aspects. One customer describes a compassionate response from the receptionist who immediately offered care for a suffering stray kitten at no charge, indicating a caring attitude towards animals in need. However, another long-term client recounts a distressing experience, alleging a lack of transparency regarding potential drug side effects and a perceived lack of compassion during a pet emergency and the subsequent passing of their dog. This suggests that while some interactions may be positive and caring, others may fall significantly short of expectations.
At Miami Acres Animal Hospital, our services include general veterinary care. The positive review highlights a willingness to help even feral animals in dire situations. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about the provision of information regarding treatments (specifically the drug Librela), communication during emergencies, and the level of personal care and follow-up provided to long-term clients, particularly during sensitive times such as a pet's death. The stark contrast in these experiences makes it difficult to objectively assess the overall quality and reliability of the services provided.
A key feature of Miami Acres Animal Hospital in Troy, OH, appears to be the compassion shown in certain situations, such as the care offered to a dying stray kitten. However, this is significantly overshadowed by serious allegations of negligence in communication about potential drug side effects, poor emergency response, and a perceived lack of empathy towards a long-term client during a pet's passing. Potential local users are strongly advised to carefully consider both positive and negative feedback before choosing this veterinary hospital for their pet's care.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available. Given the conflicting customer experiences, local users are strongly advised to consider all available feedback and potentially seek further information or alternative options before entrusting their pets' care to Miami Acres Animal Hospital.

Oct 25, 2024 · Carly WitmerAfter over 15yrs trusting Dr. Johnson with my dogs, I never thought in this world he would push a toxic drug as Librela for arthritis on my lab, Missy. She had experienced five side effects from this injection. (which can be found on the FDA's website.) Not one single possible side effect was warned to us by Dr. Johnson! The last visit our dog had with Dr. Johnson, he again offered our lab another Librela shot. we declined as we felt she was getting worse. Please note, around the time of our last visit the FDA sent warning notifications to all veterinarian offices regarding the side effects and deaths due to the Librela injection. We began our own research after her passing and read weeks after this visit about the FDA's warning. The day of her passing, we tried to contact their office with an emergency situation as Missy had a seizure. We left a voicemail as they were closed on one of their normal working days, I guess they felt it necessary to be closed the day before the actual New Year's Day holiday. We received a text, yes a text message from an answering service SIX hours after our voicemail was left. They asked if we would like Dr. Johnson contacted. Our response was NO our dog has passed. He didn't even have the courtesy to make a personal phone call as he was our vet for 15yrs. It seems it is money over true whole hearted compassion. Now we did receive a sorry about your dogs passing card, but he didn't even sign it, one of the staff members signed Dr. J on it. wow, thanks for your card but you shouldn't have wasted the paper and stamp! As a medical professional he should keep up to date with all possoble changes that can come about with treatments. Well, he didn't feel the necessity to mention side effects to us, nor the fact that the FDA had put out a warning! With our experience it absolutely broke us to have to make the extremely difficult gut punch decision to put Missy down. She passed away on 12/31/2024 after a six month course of three injections with our arms holding onto her, watching her take her very last breath. Dr J failed us and more importantly he 100% failed Missy!
Jan 17, 2025 · dangreentech@gmail @Wow!! Lots of good reviews which surprises me. My parents yorkipoo had been seeing "Dr J", apparently what he is called. She was diagnosed with a heart murmur as a puppy. Never once did he seem concerned . Never once did he tell my parents to monitor her and possibly put her on a medication the older she got. They took her to this Dr last week with a rapid heart beat and lethargy. Still no mention of any kind of plan to help her live her last years. She died in my Moms arms yesterday at age 11. She still could have had a few more good years left with my parents if "Dr J" did his job properly. It is only until after her death that they were told that they should have never taken her there by their groomer who knows his real reputation. Now they are left wondering if they could have done more. If they should have inquired since obviously their vet did not care.
Aug 22, 2024 · Sarah MurphyIf I could give 10 million stars I would. Doctor J assisted us in putting our 14 year old beloved dog to sleep. We were not current clients; however, he still met us after hours!
Sep 09, 2022 · Beth KindellJason took excellent care of our Labrador, Emma. I know he will do the same for Harper. A nice vet that cares along with his staff. If you need a vet, check out Miami Acres in Troy.
