…very caring and knowledgeable! Dr Dilday in the internal medicine department was very caring and was so easy to talk to. He explained procedures and treatments perfectly to me. I pray they work so I can have my boy return to his active self! only downside is the astronomical cost! ouch! Lakota had to be euthanized on May 20th. The treatments weren’t working. I’m devastated.

While some concerns regarding cost have been raised, the overall impression emphasizes a commitment to the well-being of animal patients and compassionate support for their owners.
Although specific details about the environment of Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital Cleveland are not extensively described in the provided reviews, the positive comments regarding the staff's demeanor and the mention of specialized departments suggest a professional and well-equipped facility. The presence of an internal medicine department, highlighted by the positive experience with Dr. Dilday, indicates the capacity for advanced diagnostics and treatment of complex internal conditions. Similarly, the exceptional praise for Dr. Matthew Cook in the oncology department suggests the availability of specialized cancer care. This implies that the hospital is likely to have the necessary infrastructure and equipment to support these specialized services. While we lack a visual description, the focus on specialized care and positive staff interactions suggests a setting where pets can receive advanced medical attention in a supportive atmosphere.
The services offered at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital Cleveland appear to encompass both general and specialized veterinary care. The mention of an internal medicine department, where Dr. Dilday is noted for his caring approach and clear explanations of procedures and treatments, indicates expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of internal diseases. The overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding Dr. Matthew Cook, an oncologist, highlights the hospital's specialization in cancer care for pets, including diagnosis, treatment options like chemotherapy, and supportive care. The fact that Dr. Cook was able to prolong the life of a dog with lymphoma suggests a high level of expertise and dedication in this critical area. While routine wellness services like vaccinations and general check-ups are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, it is reasonable to assume that a comprehensive Pet Hospital would offer these foundational services as well.
A significant feature of Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital Cleveland is the evident expertise and compassion of its specialists. Dr. Dilday in internal medicine is described as very caring and easy to talk to, with a knack for explaining complex medical information clearly. Dr. Matthew Cook in oncology receives extraordinary praise for his compassionate, intelligent, and humble approach. Beyond the specialists, the staff at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital Cleveland also receives positive mentions. Erin, a staff member who taught a pet owner how to administer IV fluids at home to save money, is specifically recognized for making the owner feel warm and welcome. This willingness to go the extra mile to support pet owners, both medically and financially, speaks to a caring and considerate team. The reviewer also noted the pleasantness and infectious smiles of the staff, contributing to a positive overall experience, even during stressful times.
However, one important aspect mentioned in the reviews is the "astronomical cost" of services. This is a significant consideration for pet owners and suggests that while the quality of care may be high, it may come at a premium. It is advisable for potential clients to inquire about the costs of procedures and treatments upfront to make informed decisions about their pet's care.
Tragically, one review mentions the euthanasia of a beloved pet, Lakota, after treatments were unsuccessful. While this highlights the limitations of veterinary medicine in some cases, the initial positive experiences with the caring and knowledgeable staff remain relevant to the overall character of the hospital. It underscores the emotional investment of pet owners and the difficult decisions that sometimes must be made, even with the best care.

May 24, 2025 · Sue SzalayDr. MATTHEW COOK the BEST human and oncologist ever. I remember when I was in distress and my dog had lymphoma, things were going super bad and someone referred Dr Cook , literally this man is nothing short of gd sent. The first day I met him he sat down on the floor at the level of my dog and just took at the notepad. I was so impressed with how much care and effort he took to prolong my dogs life until he couldn't. He is the definition of compassionate, intelligent and humble. His staff was so pleasant and there smiles are infectious. If everyone tells you give up or it's over go see Dr Cook. I am not saying he has a crystal ball but he gets it, and I am so lucky for the extra few months he gave my boxer with lymphoma. We love you Dr cook. I would travel to Ohio to see him again, that's how good he is. His staff taught me how to give my dog IV fluids so I can save money and always made me feel warm and welcome especially Erin. I truly am grateful for each of them.
Mar 06, 2025 · Marlene KonMy go to for EMERGENCY MEDICINE Dr Kate Anderson was professional compassionate. The whole team at Metropolitan was attentive so appreciative of their hard work. Thank you Dr Dilday for taking such good care of our Dog. So appreciative that you explained the procedure to me and taking the time post procedure of their findings and treatment modality. I was very worried and so grateful for this time spent in the METROPOLITAN VET HOSPITAL with you.
May 09, 2025 · Deanna CowanMy wife and I had to bring our cat, Peter, into the emergency room over the weekend. The check-in was prompt and efficient, Peter was brought back in a timely manner, and we were updated well throughout the visit. The staff were friendly, informative, and upfront regarding recommendations and pricing. They informed us they would send over documentation regarding Peter’s visit to his primary vet, which we’re thrilled to see actually happened because today our primary vet gave us a call to follow up to see how he is doing. We truly appreciate all of the staff there and are grateful Peter is recovering well! Would highly recommend coming here for any emergent pet care needs!
May 19, 2025 · Brittany RoyerOur situation required immediate attention and the folks at Metropolitan stepped it up right away. We were given wonderful information about Pepper’s condition, a chance to ask as many questions as we had and to see Pepper in her oxygen enclosure. They took the best care of her for the 48 hours she was in their care and we went home with thorough instructions as well as medications to continue her on the path to wellness. We highly recommend Metropolitan for emergency and specialty needs. We felt very comfortable leaving her there knowing all her various needs would be addressed. Should we ever have reason for that level of care again, we will not hesitate to drive the hour and a half there for the specialty care we received. Metropolitan saved Pepper’s life.
