Welcome to Meadowlands Veterinary Center
Meadowlands Veterinary Center, located at 36751 Euclid Ave, Willoughby, OH 44094, USA, operates as a local **Pet Hospital** serving the community with a range of veterinary services and related goods for sale. The clinic aims to provide care for pets, addressing their health needs through various medical approaches. For those looking to contact the clinic, they can be reached at (440) 942-7297 or via mobile at +1 440-942-7297.
As a facility within the "Pet Hospital" category, Meadowlands Veterinary Center is tasked with offering diagnostic, treatment, and preventative care for animal companions. The clinic has been a part of the community for some time, with one client mentioning having gone there since the time of "Dr. Slobody," indicating a long-standing presence. This introduction will provide an overview of the clinic's environment, the services it offers, its reported features, and insights from client feedback, acknowledging both positive experiences and areas of concern.
The environment at Meadowlands Veterinary Center, as perceived by clients, appears to be influenced significantly by the interactions with its staff. While specific details about the physical layout, waiting areas, or examination rooms are not explicitly described in the provided reviews, the positive feedback highlights a staff that is perceived as "wonderful," creating a welcoming atmosphere for some clients and their dogs. The mention of Dr. McKinley and Bridget, along with "all the other staff," taking "such good care of my dogs" suggests a team-oriented and attentive approach within the clinic's setting.
Conversely, the negative review, while not directly commenting on the physical space, implies that the diagnostic environment, specifically the decision not to perform an X-ray for a suspected ACL tear, led to a critical outcome. This suggests that while the staff may be seen as caring, the diagnostic protocols or the thoroughness of initial examinations can be a point of concern for some pet owners. Ideally, a pet hospital environment should instill confidence in its diagnostic capabilities and ensure all necessary steps are taken for an accurate assessment. The overall environment, therefore, presents a mixed perception based on individual experiences with the care provided and the diagnostic processes followed.
As a Pet Hospital, Meadowlands Veterinary Center would typically offer a range of services fundamental to animal health. Based on the common expectations of such a facility and the context of the provided reviews, these services would likely include:
- **General Wellness and Preventative Care:** This generally includes routine physical examinations, vaccinations to protect against common diseases, parasite control (fleas, ticks, heartworm), and nutritional counseling. Regular check-ups are crucial for early detection of health issues.
- **Diagnostic Services:** For accurate diagnosis of illnesses or injuries, a pet hospital usually provides various diagnostic tools. The reviews specifically mention a case where an X-ray was *not* performed for a suspected ACL tear, leading to a later diagnosis of bone cancer elsewhere. This highlights the importance of thorough diagnostic processes, which typically include:
- Physical examinations (as was done for the suspected ACL tear).
- Imaging (X-rays, ultrasound) to visualize internal structures and detect issues not apparent through physical palpation.
- Laboratory services (blood tests, urinalysis, fecal exams) to assess organ function, detect infections, and screen for diseases.
- **Treatment for Illnesses and Injuries:** This covers a broad spectrum, from treating common ailments to managing more complex conditions. The reviews indicate they provide care for dogs, suggesting medical management for various canine health issues.
- **Surgical Procedures:** While not directly mentioned in the reviews, a full-service pet hospital typically offers a range of surgical services, from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft tissue or orthopedic surgeries.
- **Dental Care:** Proper oral hygiene is vital for pet health, and most pet hospitals offer dental examinations, cleanings, and extractions.
- **Pharmacy and Prescription Foods:** Providing access to necessary medications and specialized therapeutic diets is a standard offering to support treatment plans.
It's important to note that the depth and breadth of these services, particularly regarding advanced diagnostics or specialized treatments, can vary between clinics. The conflicting review highlights a specific instance where a client felt diagnostic thoroughness was lacking, leading to a delayed, critical diagnosis elsewhere.
Based on the provided customer feedback, Meadowlands Veterinary Center appears to have certain features that are either well-regarded or have raised concerns:
- **Compassionate Staff for Routine Care:** The consistent positive feedback regarding "Dr. McKinley, Bridget, and all the other staff" being "so wonderful" and taking "such good care of my dogs" points to a team that is perceived as genuinely caring and kind during general visits. This level of interpersonal warmth and animal handling skill is a significant positive feature for many pet owners.
- **Long-Standing Client Relationships:** The mention of clients having gone to the clinic "since Dr. Slobody was there" indicates a history of building and maintaining long-term relationships with pet owners, suggesting a certain level of consistent service that has fostered loyalty over time.
- **"Fantastic Care All Around" (from some clients):** For some, the overall experience has been overwhelmingly positive, encompassing all aspects of their pets' care, leading to strong recommendations.
- **Concerns Regarding Diagnostic Thoroughness:** A critical feature that stands out from one review is the reported lack of an X-ray for a suspected ACL tear, which later proved to be bone cancer when examined by another vet. This raises questions about the clinic's diagnostic protocols and the thoroughness of initial evaluations in certain cases. In a pet hospital, accurate and timely diagnosis is paramount, and this incident points to a potential area of concern regarding diagnostic rigor.
While no specific promotional campaigns or direct marketing information are provided, the perception of Meadowlands Veterinary Center is heavily influenced by the diverse experiences of its clientele. The positive testimonials, emphasizing the "wonderful" and "fantastic care" from Dr. McKinley, Bridget, and the rest of the staff, serve as a form of organic promotion. These reviews highlight the clinic's ability to build strong, long-term relationships with satisfied clients who appreciate the compassionate handling of their pets.
However, it is crucial to also consider the critical review, which acts as a counterpoint to the uniformly positive feedback. The experience of a misdiagnosis, where a simple X-ray could have potentially revealed a much more severe condition earlier, fundamentally impacts the perception of the clinic's diagnostic reliability. This type of feedback, even though it reflects one specific incident, can significantly influence potential clients' trust and decision-making when choosing a "Pet Hospital."
Therefore, while the clinic benefits from a loyal base that values its staff's kindness and care, prospective clients would need to weigh these positive aspects against concerns raised about the thoroughness of diagnostic procedures in certain situations. For pet owners in Willoughby, OH, and surrounding areas, considering Meadowlands Veterinary Center would involve evaluating their past experiences (if any), the type of care needed (routine vs. complex diagnostics), and the importance of comprehensive diagnostic processes as highlighted by the varied customer feedback.

Dr. McKinley, Bridget, and all the other staff are so wonderful. They take such good care of my dogs! I have been going here with my pets since Dr. Slobody was there. Such fantastic care all around!
Mar 05, 2025 · Rebecca StricklandI would not recommend this clinic. They said our dog “most likely” had an ACL tear in his back leg after feeling it and no Xray. Fast forward 2 months and the problem is worse, so we went to another vet for an second opinion who actually took an Xray and found bone cancer in his leg. Our dog is dead now which is 6 months after the appointment at Meadowlands where we were told he had an ACL tear. Makes me wonder if we could have done something to help if we knew sooner.
Apr 28, 2024 · Brandon MartinMy dogs have been coming here since we got them. The office is inviting, everyone who works here clearly loves animals. Everyone is so nice! Dr. Slobody is great, all the techs are so wonderful. I know when I bring my pups here they're in good hands. Worth every penny. 🐾
Jan 22, 2020 · Terri WlodarczykWhen your pets aren’t feeling good or even if it’s an annual checkup, Meadowland’s is the best. The staff is super kind hearted, patient, friendly, knowledgeable, reliable, and really help during some difficult times. Thank you for all that you do Meadowlands!
Sep 25, 2024 · Ren GreinerEDIT : I came here because I heard a lot of good things, and my uncle came here years ago. But in my honest experience, I was overcharged and not treated very well. First off, they make you wait in your car while they take your pets because they are still stuck in covid mode (Ridiculous!). Also, the woman at the front desk who takes payments was very rude! (But the vet tecs are friendly). Hrres what happened. So, I paid over $1,100 to have my cats teeth pulled. After she healed, she was having what looked like agonizing pain when she would try to eat. So I called them, and they told me to just bring her in implementing they would examine her for free... So they charged me $60 for another visit, charged me for more antibiotics, and told me her last tooth is rotting and needed pulled.. When in reality, they SHOULD HAVE PULLED ALL OF THE TEETH WHILE DOING THE SURGERY. They litterally left one tooth, and it is still giving her issues, and she is in a lot of pain. Now, I have to take her (somewhere else) to have the last one pulled. I do not recommend going here!
