McLean Animal Hospital

McLean Animal Hospital was recommended after we had a few terrible experiences at cat-only vet practices. I am so incredibly grateful for the kind and gentle vets here. Dr. Hodgdon has provided my sweet 13 yr old kitty with superb care. She is thorough and spends so much time following up via phone. Today we saw Dr. Clark and he was so caring and went over my cat’s treatment history in great detail. The vet techs are compassionate and gentle and know how to deal with anxious pets. Treatment processes are very transparent and the front desk personnel are so helpful. They go out of their way for their clients.

Dr. Jack Sexton has been a compassionate and capable veterinarian for my cat for the past 14 years. His son, now in charge of the hospital, stayed late for an emergency. It's a wonderful practice.

I attempted to get a quote for a basic neuter of my puppy as a new client and after giving all of my, and my puppy's, information was told cheerfully that I would be emailed a quote within a week. A week later, after no response, I call back and a different person looks into it for me. After quite a while, she comes back and says that she has been told that they only give quotes to established clients. Clearly, she didn't know that before, nor did the person I spoke with on the previous occasion. On top of wasting all of my time, they had the audacity to ask when I wanted to come in for my appointment...

Found a baby robin during my walk. No one would take the bird in. McLean Animal Hospital immediately accepted it, fed, and found a rehabber. These people are amazing and I will be taking my dog over to them moving forward.

We saw our vet at MAH about having some of our dog’s teeth extracted, but unfortunately we can’t afford to pay the full price quoted immediately given that it was quoted for several thousand dollars. We asked about potentially paying in installments or otherwise find some flexibility so that this procedure doesn’t have to wait and risk further health issues, but this practice and veterinarian were not willing to help us in any way. The vet suggested a potentially cheaper practice (in Manassas?!), but suggested that we check if they do extractions or just cleaning. Then told us that “if they only do cleaning, maybe some of them will just fall out” and we could handle it that way which was a shocking way to suggest we care for our pet. We’ve been using this vet since we got our dog as a puppy (over 7 years), but given the lack of sympathy and callousness we’ve received in our interactions about this issue I don’t think we can continue to see this vet. It’s unfortunate that practices and people like this care more about making money than about your pet’s wellbeing and good customer service.
